Worst dollar tree ever poor selection and not stocked well. Employees were okay but I expected more from the store.

Looks as though it’s the constant victim of a breaking and entering. Absolutely ransacked.

#289 As a teacher living in Rittenhouse Square, this place was as good as it got when I needed supplies. I made regular trips here on the way back from work for a year to pick up the necessities — air freshener, glue, clothespins, holiday-themed pencils, etc. They don’t have a teacher section like the one on Columbus, but they do spring for the supplies every so often. So, if I was on the lookout, I could find some cute certificates and rewards passes. I also tracked down some decent Christmas decorations for the classroom around mid-November. The downside of the place was its distinctive odor that permeates every possible inch of the store. Not to mention, you get a lot of crazies just bumming around outside. There was one instance where a homeless woman decided to use the right corner directly next to the entrance as her dressing room — that’s right, A CORNER. Without walls or a screen or anything. Of course, the cops were called and they pulled her out of the place. But, it goes to show what kind of antics can be found in the vicinity of this location.

It’s pretty awful in here — and I generally don’t mind Dollar Tree(the one on Columbus Blvd is huge). Good in a pinch for cheap this or that. Great for greeting cards(2 for a buck — take THAT Hallmark). Do not buy FOOD items here. Eeeeew!

I ran in here on my lunch break to grab a roll of wrapping paper and a bow for a last minute gift I had to deal with — and — I am sorry I did! I should have turned around immediately when I saw that the store was ransacked. It was crowded and the staff looked as if they hated their jobs. — I would too I guess if this is what I had to deal with everyday too. — There were more kids running around in that store then at a daycare center. I don’t know what can be done here, but I have found another place for cheap wrapping paper in the meantime.

As our economy continues to be slash-n-burned, I’m more intrigued with The Dollar Store/Tree. What really seemed like a stupid fad in 1990 has become, «A dollar, really?» Don’t get me wrong… I don’t exactly do my holiday shopping or buy my shampoo here, but what I do love The Dollar Tree for is cheap stationary. Post-it Notes, envelopes, bulk pens, etc. are perfect for me, as Staples continues to get higher priced. Other than that, and maybe a big bottle of cold water on a summer sidewalk day, I shake the Tree just as often as anybody else — hardly at all.
