Dr. Gretchen J. Brewer O.D. & Associates

Twenty some years ago I came to Lenscrafters for my eye exam and glasses and was happy enough. This year Dr. Brewer did my exam and the store should be happy they have her. The exam was easy and very thorough.
You know the worst thing about a really thorough eye exam are the dilation drops and having to wear sunglasses for the next 12 hours! Well, Dr. Brewer’s office has it covered. They have a gadget that does the same thing as dilation drops to check the health of your eyes but without the hassle. It does cost an additional thirty bucks but well worth it.

Horrible experience… Took over 1.5 hours just to get my eyes examined. The store that the optometrist is housed in is very run down and the staff seems unable to handle the volume.

Wonderful service… explained every step of the exam. Making appointments for the entire family!!!

Eye exam not as thorough as I have had in the past from other optometrists. I was given a trial pair of contacts and had to return for a follow up visit to see if they worked for me. I ordered my contacts through the office because they has a better deal than 1800 Contacts online which I thought was good. I placed the order and was told the shipment would most likely take 2 days to come in and someone would call me when they came in. Today is a week since I ordered the contacts. I called the office back and after placing me on hold for several minutes, I was told they came in. I asked when they came in and was told they have been sitting there for 4 days now I asked why it wasn’t notified and she did not have an answer for me. I am past overdue now for changing my contacts within that 2 week period. Poor customer service. If you care about your eyes in which you should and to get the best care for them I wouldn’t recommend this place. I will not be returning.

I’ve found a new eye doctor! Sunday we had an emergency situation. My daughter who is 6 was playing dress up and wasn’t sure if she hit herself in the eye with a glittery scarf or what but her eye was red and swollen, not wanting to pay $ 200 for an ER visit, but fearing that she scratched something, I stumbled across Dr. Brewer’s office who, was not only was open on a Sunday, but were able to squeeze her in without an appointment!
The office is located inside the Lenscrafters in the Roosevelt mall. The staff were so friendly and super sweet to my little girl who was afraid to let anyone touch her eye!
The dr was very patient and managed to relax her and thankfully it wasn’t a scratch just a piece of fuzzy glitter! Bonus, they took my insurance, so I just had a copay.
So now I scheduled myself there this week for a contact lens exam. I’ve never worn them, always wanted to and they do the training there and and give you a free trial pair its included with the exam and they take my vision plan. So I’m so excited!
