This place was amazing, best sushi I have had in awhile. The presentation and taste was outstanding. I received a sushi combo it was out of this world. My boyfriend is a little picky and he even said this place was amazing. The service was very good. Not too pushy but just right. I felt everyone cared about making things right. I wish I lived in Philly for this place!

This was our second time at Fat Salmon(party of 2) and again it was amazing. This place does get crowed so make a reservation!!! — Sidebar: I made a reservation thru Unilocal, quick easy and no issues when i got to the restaurant. Thanks Unilocal! Ok back to the delicious sush … we had the BCT, White Forest(with salmon), Yellow Tail, Spicy Tuna Sandwich and the Lobster Tail Tempura Roll. That’s a lot for 2 people right? LOL well we ate every bit of it! Each roll was SOGOOD and super fresh. The restaurant itself has a great ambiance, its on the smaller side but very cozy. Great for a date night or a girls night. They also had a table towards the back which looked like it was good for a larger party(maybe like 6 – 8).

Best sushi in Philadelphia. Went with the Vampire and White Forest roll and split with a group of two others who also got 2 special rolls. Absolutely delicious. Go with a group and get a big plate to share. Start off with a Miso soup and green salad with ginger dressing.

This place has become a favorite for my boyfriend and I. We love the variety and uniqueness of the specialty rolls. They have plenty to choose from and the menu has pictures of them which is a huge plus. We had about 5 different rolls and they were all amazing. The prices were also great for the quality. OH and how can I forget the huge saki for decent price! Only negative about the place is that if you want a table you have to make reservations weeks in advance or else arrive early and get seated at the bar but you may be a little cramped.

This is our family’s favorite. Every time we visited our son in Philly, one of our meals has to be here. They offer variety of dishes, fresh and unique. Importantly, there are quite a few exceptional quality of vegetarian dishes that I, a vegetarian, can alway enjoy. Don’t forget to make an appointment before you go.

Wow. Loved it. The food was really awesome. I had the old school and avocado salad. The ginger dressing on my salad was to die for The fried onions with spicy sauce on the rolls were too good.

Awesome experience for my husband and I. The best sushi we’ve ever had, and trust me we have eaten A LOT of sushi, LOL. The staff was very helpful and polite. We will definitely be returning and plan on bringing our upcoming out of town guest here.

The incredible reviews brought me to this place last week, and my first experience could not have been better! As a first-timer, I tried a variety of rolls(there are a TON to choose from) and found each of them fresh, unique, and delicious. The most unexpected standouts were the White Forest and the Rolling Fire. I’ve raved about the White Forest to friends and their first response is, «SOURCREAMONSUSHI?!» but don’t be scared, it’s nothing like you’re imagining and it will be a pleasant surprise. I suggest ordering it with the shrimp tempura. The Rolling Fire comes topped with a broiled spicy scallop sauce(yes, that means it’s served warm!) which brings some serious heat. This roll was so different but I highly suggest it if you like spicy food. Above all, I was SO impressed with the friendliness of the wait staff. For the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant, I was expecting pretentious or stuffy service, but that was not the case ATALL. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the hostesses and our server, Zack, could not have been more helpful and friendly. Fat Salmon is the best sushi spot in the city!

Fat Salmon is my sushi go-to in Philly. I’ve always been a big fan for dinner and I recently went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by their lunch special! They have a great selection of out-of-the-box specialty rolls as well as the basics. The Dancing Vampire and White Forest are two of my favs! It’s not a good place for groups, as most of the tables are two-tops and if you don’t make a reservation, you’ll likely end up sitting at the sushi bar. The service is good and consistent, as is the food. For lunch, they offer a ton of different combos that are served with either miso soup or a salad ranging from $ 7 — $ 14.50. I went with the salad and the ginger dressing was delicious.

Eating at the Sushi bar. Turns out they recommend reservations due to the limited tables. it’s You get a nice view of the gentlemen«suishing» behind the bar. And that’s a good thing by the way; enjoy the show! Food is amazing presentation is second to none.

The salmon here is so fat, the good kind of fat! Food: I ordered the chicken teriyaki combination dinner, which comes with rice and soup or salad. I’m not big on rice, so I asked them if I could get a larger salad in place. I opted for the avocado salad for about a dollar extra. So worth it. Half of a fresh/ripe avocado, lettuce, ginger dressing, tomato, etc. Simple salad with so much character and taste. The chicken teriyaki was amazing, the chicken was super tender and juicy and the teriyaki sauce was the best I’ve ever had. Most teriyaki sauces are just overtly sweet, this one was a balance of sweet and savor which really elicited my taste buds. My protein was served over steamed veggies which also made me happy since I was in dire need of more greens. My boyfriend ordered the salmon teriyaki. The quality of the salmon was perfection, so fresh and vibrantly colored even after being cooked. The best type of fat I’ve ever consumed. We also shared the fancy sushi roll with salmon($ 10.50), which was essentially a sliver of salmon wrapped around a chunk of rice and topped with wasabi. The roll fell apart so easily, but we were just amazed by the high quality salmon(again) that we didn’t care much for the only con out of this dining experience. The roll was okay, but I wouldn’t get it again.
Service: I wish I caught my servers name, she was so pleasant and delightful to chat with. She made good recommendations and helped me tinker with the menu to fit my needs. Ambiance: Don’t let the storefront fool you. Contemporary, chic, yet casual. Price: One of the pricier Sushi places I’ve dined at in terms of combination dinners(similar to bento box, approx $ 17 – 18). However, the quality of all the meat and ingredients used here is grade A. Super good quality, from the salmon(literally fat and full of omegas) to the chicken and even the avocados. The price is definitely right! Overall: Exceptional service, high quality and delicious sushi rolls and combination dinner plates. I most certainly will be back!

Sushi are a go, and Philly got dozens of major sleek sushi restaurants, Fat Salmon is one of them. So go on, you like-minded Unilocalers, enjoy Dancing vampire or the White Forest and happy slurping. An order of sashimi & sushi($ 29.50) is just little bites of heaven. Perfectly textured, fresh and very filling– can you ask for more? Ice cream for dessert? Yaaaaaaaaaaawn. Try something a little different, like Tempura Ice Cream($ 6.00). It will make your dessert a whole lot more pleasant. Four and Half Unilocal

As I walked in, I immediately thought this place was one of those swank over quality-type places. The interior is lit up like a night club and they just happen to serve sushi. That type of fodder is for NYC, not Philly in my opinion. The food was good enough, but not spectacular. The seaweed salad was crunchy and tasty. I did not know what to make of the«specialty» rolls. Usually they cost more(for good reason), but also give 8 – 10 large pieces. The specialty rolls we ordered here were 6 pieces average-sized. Dancing Vampire Roll was good, but the sweet chili sauce took over and you could barely taste the decent amount of fish that was inside the roll. NOTE: I put very little soy on my sushi because I like the flavor of the fish, so this might have just been the wrong roll for me to choose. We also got the volcano roll, which was tasty with good crunch texture and a decent amount of fish. My favorite item here was easily the unagi hand roll. Very good amount of fish and perfectly cooked rice. We came here before a show at the Walnut Street Theatre, so if I’m in the mood for sushi again before a show, I will likely come back. Not sure I would otherwise as there are better sushi places to seek out in Philly.

I wanted some sushi during the few days I was in Philly so came here because of the favorable location close to all the historical attractions and good reviews. With a name like Fat Salmon, I would have expected them to have some… Fatty salmon or tuna. No such luck, so I ordered two rolls, the lost rainbow and the dancing vampire. The lost rainbow was lost indeed. It was stuffed with a crab roll with some thin slices of white tuna and salmon on top, along with some roe. The fish was very fresh but cut much too thin and was overpowered by the rest of the roll. The dancing vampire was the same. Couldn’t taste anything except for the spicy paste they used to coat the fish. Again, there was a dismal amount of fish in the actual roll. I agree with a previous reviewer that said this place should be called crab sticks. Nearly every special roll on the menu contained crab sticks. Redeeming factor is the interior is super pretty. Blue lighting, cools wave-like pattern on walls… Ambiance would be great for a date. Wish they had food to match!

Excellent sushi with new and inventive rolls, great service and décor with very reasonable prices. I ordered the edamame, tofuholic roll and cucumber/avocado roll. The tofu roll was amazing, I’ve never even heard of it before. I am definitely coming back for more of this. A few of my friends got the rolling fire roll(it’s spicy) but they loved it! Great for a group of friends! Excellent sushi!

My favorite sashimi place around this area used to be Sagami. However, my last experience there was tainted after I was deliberately told by our server to order food from the kitchen and not the sushi menu unless, I wanted to wait an additional 2 hours. No thanks. I was in need of finding another sashimi place, since I don’t trust most Philly sushi restaurants for purely raw fish. I came here after many recommendations, and this place definitely lived up to the hype. For about $ 50, we ordered the sashimi platter for 2. Every slice was perfectly cut and fresh. I am super picky about sashimi quality, as my brother is an avid fisherman, and this place definitely impressed.

Fat Salmon is the PERFECT place to get some amazing sushi. My friends and I were so happy with the food, service, and atmosphere. We asked the waitress for the most popular options and ordered the Dancing Vampire, Rolling Fire, Blossom, and Unakyu. My absolute favorite were the Dancing Vampire(made with cucumber and asparagus crunchy with tuna & salmon on top) and Rolling Fire rolls(shrimp tempura with broiled spicy scallop sauce on top). I loved the shrimp tempura in the Rolling Fire roll, and the sauce that topped it was the perfect addition to the dish. These two options were definitely the spicier ones, but not too spicy. Even my friend who usually opts out of spicy foods loved these rolls! They also had a nice sweet and spicy taste with every bite. Fat Salmon is the perfect place to take all sushi lovers! I know for sure I’ll be back to try the other rolls!
