Come to the Green Wasabi for solid casual Japanese food. Food comes out quickly, and is quite reasonably priced. The sushi isn’t the freshest, but it’s better than other restaurant sushi I’ve had at this price range and certainly better than your typical supermarket fair. Interestingly enough, they also have ramen, a dish that is slowly but surely gaining popularity on the Philly dining scene. I’d come back to try it. The service was professional, quick, friendly, and the other patrons seemed pleased. Come on Saturdays to get 15% off your whole bill!

Came here yesterday with the boyfriend for some lite dinner. There is a 15% off after 4PM Monday — Thursday(? not sure about the dates) The people here were nice and they made the sushi and bento box pretty quickly. My boyfriend asked for fried brown rice and they were able to accommodate without a problem.

My friend and I, who have both lived in Japan for few years, wanted to go check this place out since it’s near our workplace. My friend really wanted to try the ramen. I’m not a big fan of most ramen as it contains pork which I don’t eat. I was interested in checking out the sushi though. I had just gotten over a bout of food poisoning, so I didn’t feel like trying the fish. I opted for the safer veggie bento. You order at the counter and pay, and the food is brought out to your table. It was your standard Americanized Japanese food. Everything comes out really fast and is served in plastic containers(besides the ramen). The price isn’t bad for the amount of food you get either. I think mine was a little over $ 10 after tax. With my veggie bento I got a small salad with ginger dressing. I did like that the lettuce wasn’t iceberg lettuce, but the dressing was just okay. The veggie tempera was standard fried veggies and came with some dashi. It was hot and fresh. I got to choose either yaki soba noodles, fried rice, or white rice as a side. I opted for the yaki soba since I was already getting rice with my avocado cucumber roll that came with the set. The cucumber avocado rolls were as expected and served with pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. I can’t speak for the quality of the ramen, but it came out in huge bowls and looked appetizing. All the food came out very quickly and the cashier was very friendly. I might go back for lunch and check out the sushi sometime since it’s conveniently located near my workplace, and the food comes out really fast which is important when you’re pressed for time!

Tonkotsu ramen, made from pork bone broth, is the classic I always order. It came out with an egg, scallions, greens, bamboo shoots, pork, and fishcake slices(that I promptly removed). The first thing I noticed was that the broth was lacking the fatty richness I expect to find. I added some hot pepper to spice up the flavor. Noodles were springy, but not at the level of chewiness I like. The pork was tender but flavorless. All of the ramen bowls cost $ 10, thought there is a 20% off promotion for an unknown limited amount of time while they are still knew. The portion was fair for $ 10, bigger than a bowl at Ramen Boy. If I had to make a comparison based on flavor, Ramen Boy, though far from perfect, wins. Shio(salt) ramen was similarly dressed, with the addition of sweet corn kernels. The broth had a stronger flavor than the tonkatsu but it was slightly chemically in nature. Outside of the ramen spectrum, we tried the wasabi shumai which were so wasabi filled that my eyes teared up too much to be enjoyable. I have yet to try the bento boxes or sushi, but based on my one lunch here I don’t know if I will be back to do that.

Stumbled upon this sushi place today and had their Shoyu Ramen and Spicy Tuna Roll. The Ramen came with slice pork, half boiled egg, spinach, fish cake, scallions and bamboo shoot. Both broth and roast pork was spot on flavorful and delicious. Also, it is pretty fulfilling due to the generous amount of noodles that they gave you. As for the Spicy Tuna roll, it was prepared fresh and delicious. Overall, the service was quick and friendly. So, if your looking for a quick bite of sushi this is the place to be. BTW: They have a special promo for 20% off your entire bill as their grand opening. Not sure how long that would go on for, so HURRY!!!

Ramen? Sign me up. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Philly roll. The Tonkatsu ramen was great. I added some chili flakes to get the desired spice. The Philly roll was pretty good too. It’s good to see some variety as far as ramen goes, and there being more than just one place to get it. Green Wasabi was also offering a 20% grand opening discount.
