Global Beer Distribution

I had a good experience here. Just moved into the area and was looking for a hard-​to-​find beer. They didn’t have it on the shelf but had one left in the back. Made my day! The place is clean, beer selection seemed to be on par with other places I’ve been to. They have my return business!

Talk about a place that doesn’t try very hard for customer service. Every time I call to put an order in for a keg, I’m always greeted with the unfriendliest grump on the other end that acts like I’m wasting his time or treats me like I’m dumb if I have the slightest questions about beer. To top it off, I put an order for a keg of Yuengling here for a company party a few weeks before my event and when I went to pick it up, they said they were all out. What’s the point of me calling to reserve it? Never mind that my office is 3 blocks away, I now drive to Washington Ave to get a keg to not have to deal with these bozos.

To open up at noon on a Sunday during football season should be a sin! Do you know how much money you are loosing?

My closest distributor: atmosphere is average for the beer distributor, clean, open, but it seems like they don’t have much product or could have much more, shelves are not stacked tight but rather there is space between cases.
As for quality they have ice and both a decent craft and international selection but didn’t seem to be comprehensive.
Service is acceptable, always ask if assistance is needed and no bad experiences but have not needed assistance.
Selection is comprehensive in styles but not quantity of brewers, I really think they could have much more selection with the space available.

Great selection and friendly staff. Still trying to make sense of PA’s ridiculous alcohol laws but this place is by far one of the best beer distributors I’ve come across so far. The are well stocked and offer reasonable prices.
Conveniently located close by to home for me so that helps too, of course.

Global Beer is a huge warehouse type beer distributor in Noilbs. It’s in a great location from my apartment in the Piazza.
My roommate and I always go over here when we have a party of when a big even goes on and people come up (like a 104.5 concert.) They have both cold and room temperature cases. There’s plenty to choose from. You can go for the cheap basics (bud, miller, etc) or pick from any of the many craft beers they have. They also have a lot of cases that are mixed which is really nice if you don’t want an entire case of the exact same beer.
Each time I’ve been an had a question (while hunting for a certain beer) the staff has been super nice and knowledgeable.
If you drive here, don’t worry about parking. They have a lot directly next door which is rare and awesome because who wants to walk far with cases of beer?!

Great beer selection, not as good as Bella Vista, but certainly much better prices. I can call in advance and they’ll tell me if they have the case I want. One of the places I go, if my local store doesn’t have what I want.

My personal problems with the Pennsylvania Liquor Board aside, I am pretty happy with Global Beer Distribution. I discovered this place the first time I visited NoLibs because I inadvertently found a spot right outside (a lucky break). I went in before heading down to the Piazza and was impressed by the size and selection of the place.
Global resembles a cavernous warehouse, which is step up in size from the beer distributors down in my neck of the woods. The selection is quite varied, with a healthy selection of craft domestics, the usual big brews, and even a section of harder to find Belgian brews (although those of course bear the price as well).
I recently visited and actually bought something. I was satisfied with the pricing of the cases, especially for a distributor in the middle of a city, but the one issue I have with Global is that both the first time and this past time I visited, the place seemed pretty empty. The whole middle shelving unit is sparsely populated with product, and the place always just seems half-​empty. I can never tell if they have many more products that are never in stock or if they just have too much space for the cases, but the presentation/​stocking is sorely lacking at this location.
In addition, many of the prices for the cases are either hard to find or nonexistent. The employees are easily accessible and can give an answer to pricing, but I really prefer to have that information right in front of me when I am searching so I can see what I can and can’t afford without getting hung up on finding prices.

Let me start off by saying I have very high standards for beer stores. However, I do have to temper my standards as I know what Global needs to work within the draconian liquor laws of the idiotic Commonwealth of Pennsylvania where buying a case is the way you have to go.
Sure, Global does have a pretty good selection. Not great, but pretty good. When they don’t have something, they do know what you are talking about and sometimes give you a straight answer. However, Global often falls into the all too common «we are out of stock but it will be here on Tuesday» excuse crowd. NOTHING is worse than hearing this, coming back, and what you were asking for not being there. This is immensely frustrating, and Global is not the only folks to do it.
Global’s prices are not bad at all. Not great, but they could easily be a lot worse. You could go to Shangy’s in Emmaus (also where Global gets much of their stuff) for better pricing, but that is quite a hike and not an insignificant expense either.
For a place in the city, in a state with as stupid liquor laws as Pennsylvania, you can do a lot worse than Global. Give them a try.

love this place. great selection of ciders (including my favorites, sin and crispin) and the employees are really friendly. i’ll be happy to go back.

i would probably go here more if the prices were better, don’t get me wrong their not very expensive but most things here are a few dollars more then most places, good selection of beer, and the people that work there are friendly, and they know their stuff

A beer distributor right next to a liquor store? YAAAAAASSSSSS! I love one-​stop shopping!
You may only be able to get cases and kegs here BUT this place is hands down on point with their selection of beers. You can get your typical Corona, Heineken, and Yuengling but you can also get a lot of other great beers and microbrews the other places don’t have.
Next time you have to stock up for a summer fiesta, invite me FIRST and then come here: D

There is NO reason to buy your beer anywhere else. The owner is so cool, too. He’ll order specialty items for you, seems to enjoy helping. And the best part… there’s liquor store right up the street, ONE_​STOP_​SHOPPING

Great beer selection, I doubt there is anything better in the neighborhood… definitely solid, if you want a case of some great microbrews (founders, hop’n frog, great divide, oscar blues, etc…) near the piazza this is your spot!

Global is at the top of the books in terms of beer distributers in the city. They don’t have quite the best selection in the city, but the combination of the prices, location, (fairly) knowledgeable staff are in perfect harmony to make this my favorite beer distributer in the city.
It’s not worth coming from the other side of town, but Global is a happy addition to the neighborhood and an all around great distributor. It’s also nice that the liquor store around the corner; you can have a (nearly) one stop shop.

Unreal! This place has everything

I’m quite happy to have something almost as good as Stone’s of Fairmount Ave here in Northern Liberties. Global has a pretty good selection from some of my favorite US breweries such as Ommegang, Southern Tier, and Bell’s. They also boast a nice array of Belgian abbey ales and German beers.
Prices are great for both good beers and domestic piss. I think a 30-​rack of pbr was about 15 or so dollars and I picked up a case of Dogfish Head Raison d’être for just 30 bucks! I could have sworn it should have been 45. Whatever! Now it’s a great addition to my cellar.
Also, it also means less trips to Foodery since Global will be in my way. Hooray for not getting ripped off as much anymore!
