No longer G-SPA… the French Nail Bar has lovely atmosphere for a lunchtime mani/pedi. The service was excellent, a cut above with massage included in each service and a shoulder massage at the end of the Manicure. There was the owners up-sell upon entry that drove up the price, but it was worth it for the pampering. Not a quick in and out, but a very nice way to spend lunch time. I would return.

Ummm… No! I should start by saying I’ve never gone here to get my nails done, so I can only speak for waxing. I have been meaning to stop by this place for a while, so I went in this morning in need of an eyebrow and a half arm wax. The first thing I noticed while being led to the downstairs waxing area was the awful smell, but I over looked it. When I was being waxed the lady dribbled wax on my dress and my hand and smacked me in the face while pulling the strip off my arm… Which I wouldn’t mind except her response wasn’t to apologize, but to giggle. She also said«Oh wow!!» when looking at my arm before waxing it which struck me as a little rude! When I looked at my eyebrows they where missing and mismatched and When I got to the counter to pay was shocked to be charged $ 62 for a 15 minute service that has cost me about $ 40 anyplace else I’ve gone and the chick told be she gave me $ 5 off because it was my first visit!

Still loving GSpa. I’ve found myself going there more and more now instead of Genesis. I just get the level of service I’m looking for. It feels like a real spa when I come in. Most recently, I got a pedicure and after two and a half weeks, still don’t have any chips!

I was in the neighborhood for a meeting and swung by GSpa afterwards for a mani-pedi. The sign outside suggested that they were offering $ 10 off this combo but when I got inside I found out that was only for the more costly mani-pedis. I decided to stay regardless, and I’m glad I did. There were tons of OPI and Essie polishes to choose from, and I had the place all to myself which was very nice. This is definitely a much nicer salon than most nail places in the city. The décor is better(more spa-like) and there’s a fountain or two with trickling water. My pedi was so relaxing and, just as importantly, not painful. The nail tech took her time and didn’t rush through any part of the process. The massage she gave was absolutely wonderful, and the products used were better quality than your average spot. My mani was just as great and I had a blast chatting with the young woman who performed my service(if you’re reading this, I didn’t get a ticket!). I’m adding GSpa to my list of acceptable nail salons and I will be back.

Waxing disaster! The first signal something was amiss was the strong odor of dampness as I was led into the basement and into a tiny room with dirty carpet. Having been a long time customer of a chain wax company, I wanted to try to support a local business, but these guys have a long way to go. The wax was WAY too hot, applied in tiny spots so the entire process took forever. A Brazilian means everything everywhere, but the technician wasn’t real clear on that. The entire process was excessively painful and took forever for a very mediocre job. They use a very thin wax(applied with a popsicle stick) and old fashioned strips of fabric. I’m going back to the corporate pros.
