If this bakery were a person, I promise you would smother them in hugs and kisses the first chance you get. It’s cash only(hey, what Uncle Sam doesn’t know won’t hurt them) and parking is terrible, but if you can meander your way through the streets of Manayunk, a well-priced cornucopia of stuffed breads awaits you. They have all kinds of stuffed bread: ham and cheese, cheesesteak, oreganata, bacon egg and cheese. But you want to know my favorite? TOMATOPIETOMATOPIETOMATOPIE. This stuff will stick to your ribs and leave you coming back for more. It’s an acquired taste. So if you’re not a fan of thick marinara, try something else.

Love the mom and pop shop feel. Went to try out the pepperoni stuffed bread from all the rave reviews. Unfortunately was disappointed — didn’t think it was worth the hype! The cheese was very salty and not as gooey and stringy I was expecting. The bread was pretty standard. It was just bread cheese and pepperoni, didn’t seem anything special to me. Will still be willing to try their tomato pie another time.

Yes this pie is amazing. I came across this place on . I decided to check the place out because I was really wanting and craving a tomato pie. I love that it’s family-owned and has such a family feel when you walk in the door. When I got my tomato pie I was so excited to try it. When I got home and tried the first piece I was in heaven. It truly is all the hype all the other writers were saying. The tomatoes were ripe & so flavorful. The crust is a delicious to. Now that I have found this gem I come back time & time again when I want a tomato pie. Truly one of the best hidden gems in the city.

I literally cannot say enough good things about this place. Take and bake pizzas? Delicious. Tomato pie? So beyond delicious it’s insane. When you go there you instantly feel like you’re stepping into a family business, and it makes the experience that much better. Long live Marchiano’s! I love this place.

Ohhhhhhhh how I love all of the rich, subtle flavors of the tomato pie. I chew each bite as close to 32 times because that’s how adamant I am about savoring the tastiness. I am not a native to these Northern lands. When I first heard«tomato pie» I thought it was local vernacular for regular ol’ pizza. It’s always important to stay open-minded and open-bellied to learning new things, y’all. There’s a whole world of delicious out here and I’m happy to direct your attention to this one hidin’ in the cut of Roxborough. I’ve sampled a few tomato pies, but this one’s my favorite. It’s good hot or cold, which warrants its own star if I’m being honest. Ain’t a whole lot of foods I’ll eat hot AND/OR cold. Plus these pies are made with the kind of fresh, flavorful tomatoes, spices and other secret good stuff that all the other pie-makin’ folk might rave on and on about, but here they’re just servin’ it up without all the fuss and pomp. At Marchiano’s these are steadfast, knowing hands moldin’ that pie into homemade deliciousness that you really taste in each bite. It’s a cash only party, so be ready. They usually have a few large($ 17) and small($? Wait. Why would you get a small?!) tomato pies on the shelf, but I always call ahead to make sure. If you’re wanting a whole slew of ‘em or it’s near a holiday, football season, etc., you best call ahead and place your order. One day I’mma sample some other things on the menu. I keep saying that, but then when I get ready to order I only want the tomato pie. We’re going steady. The locals are loyal to this spot. Everytime I’m in there a Cheers-like moment goes down. Hasn’t happened to me just yet :) but I love the round-the-way feeling all the same.

Love, Love, Love the breads. Favorites are: Ham & Cheese, Steak & Cheese, Pepperoni & Cheese. Now, I’m not saying the other breads aren’t good, because I’ve had them all, just saying I have favorites! They are a family tradition for our pickies on the holidays and parties!

Had their tomato pie and pepperoni and cheese stuffed bread. They were both very good. I really liked the stuffed bread which I was surprised about because I’m not normally a huge fan of pepperoni. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re in manayunk.

I’m still eating it and needed to review it immediately. Holy crap — it’s like God decided that pepperoni bread was his favorite food and decided to share it with the world. I’m presently devouring pepperoni bread, spinach bread, and tomato pie, and no, I refuse to share :) I agree wholeheartedly with Carrie P. when she says to «bring lots of cash» because you are going to want to stock up on and try everything. I got there first thing in the morning to pick it up, and there was no one there, so that’s another HUGE bonus. The breads are $ 6.50-$ 7.00 each, and well worth every penny. The gigantic 32″ tomato pie was only $ 17, and it can definitely feed 3 – 4 people easily, and maybe stretched to 5 or 6 people, depending on whatever else you’re serving and how generous you want to be. I know for a fact that I am going back to Marchiano’s — and soon — to get more of these and try the other stuffed breads!

First time trying a tomato pie and I’m glad I tried it here! The tomato sauce was thick and flavorful, which is unlike ny style pizzas which have a thinner sauce and focus on the flavors of the other ingredients. The dough for this, as well as the stuffed breads, are very good. Again very tasty and standout from the other ingredients. Overall, everything was very simple and very well made. Just a note to first-time visitors: it’s cash only and take-out only.

Bring lots of cash because you ll want to load up on their delicious breads. My favorites are cheese steak and those meatball. Although some breads are only during football season, like meatball, it’s worth the wait. Tomato pie is also excellent here. The sauce has such good flavor. Their best deal is $ 5 take and bake pizzas on Friday. A great deal for a yummy pizza.

Good bread, really nice texture and bite to it. They make simple sandwiches that are kinda expensive in my opinion but they are very good so it’s not really a complaint.

OMG this was my favorite spot on the Chew Philly Food Tour. I loved the pizza and the spinach bread. I ordered the tomato and oregano and the pepperoni bread to take home. The tomato/oregano bread was PHENOMENAL. so delish! The pepperoni bread was really good too, I was told.

This place is simple and great. There’s tomato pies, stuffed breads of various types and that’s basically it. There’s no place to sit and they don’t accept credit cards. But what they do, they do right. My favorite«specialty bread» is the tomato, cheese, and garlic, get it with a one dollar marinara dipping sauce and you are in business. I’m not saying anything that hasn’t been said before but it’s an institution.

If you’re looking for the best tomato pie in the city, look no further! The sauce is perfection on top of the perfect amount of dough. Yum! The specialty breads are fantastic as well, cheesy and stuffed to the max! Great to bring to parties, always a big hit. Call ahead for weekend orders and remember it’s cash only.

Ever since our friends brought a pepperoni roll and Oreganto to our Super Bowl party, some four years ago, I dream about their deliciousness. The location is tiny & easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there, but certainly a neighborhood gem. The various rolls are perfect for get togethers and sporting events. We bring Marchiano’s almost everywhere– Christmas parties, girl’s nights, football games… you can’t beat it! If you have a special request or a must-have, call in advance so you don’t risk them being sold-out and remember– cash only!

Awesome! Came here on my first trip to Manayunk for the Chew Philly Food tours. Tried the pepperoni cheese bread, tomato pie, and homemade mango water ice. Was speechless growing up with many Italian relatives and in a community with many Italian relatives I thought I would never find such a hidden gem! The story of the Marchiano family first coming to Manayunk as immigrants pulled at my heart strings but what kept me coming back for more was the DELICIOUS baked goods. Never been a fan of tomato pie till I tried it here, you don’t need cheese with this flavorful seasoned crushed tomato sauce atop thick crusty yet soft bread. Love the prefrozen breads and rolls for those traveling. The pepperoni bread and buffalo chicken bread were STUFFED with amazing goodness– they don’t skimp out here! Come in, I promise you won’t regret it!

I am not an expert on tomato pies, having tried only a few in my life time. Today by chance, my office ordered some from Machiano’s as well as Iannelli’s so I got a chance to do a tatste test. Marchiano’s won by a landslide. The dough, the tangy tomato sauce, everything was just perfection!

These are the most amazing things I’ve ever tasted. Stuffed breads, pizza to take home and cook. The stuffed breads melt in your mouth and I crave them weekly

STUFFEDBREADS. Oh my… These stuffed breads are amazing. Had the bacon egg and cheese… And then the pepperoni and cheese. Bacon and eggs were gooey and cheesy and savory — perfect cure for a Sunday morning. And the pepperoni and cheese is fantastic. Salty and oozing with delicious cheese. Can’t wait to try the cheesesteak with papers and sauce I have tucked away in my freezer.

What can one say about this location that hasn’t already been said. I haven’t been in here for almost a year and yea its bread time. Its a Gem located on the corner in the rough. Not located on Main St but tucked away on Umbria St, and they can hold their own. They are known for many numerous ways of making any man or woman salivate when they are not hungry. Their tomato pie is outstanding… fresh dough… everything is fresh in here, who am i kidding. I have had different versions of a «tomato pie» from different spots, Marchiano’s are second only to my mothers, and as for the others. take notes. I love the stuffed breads they also make if you are not into the pie scene. I don’t know how you can’t be. the smell alone will convert you. They do breakfast stuffed breads. which is amazing! If you’re not into the breakfast theme go with the cheese steak, or it doesn’t matter which route you go… I promise you will love it Picture this: Fresh dough layered with cheese, along with scrambled eggs. and your choice of meat(if you choose) myself. i go with the sausage. Now place this in the oven and bake. the cheese dances and covers over those eggs that have been scrambled with love, inviting the sausage to join the party. in-cased in bread!!! Doesn’t that just make you salivate right there… if it doesn’t then i don’t know what to say… wait i do. go and get one and see for yourself. bacon is another great way to go. Lets talk about price… Its no where close to being expensive… for the orgasm you will give your taste buds along with a moan or a grunt in pure food enjoyment. it is worth it. You bring a 20 spot with you, you’d have a meal for the whole day. 3 loaves of just pure heaven. The owners are nothing but spectacular, the kindest group out there. They showed a lot of patience when i was there with the couple in front of me. Myself i was gonna grab a loaf and hit them over the head with it, but i respect their bread too much. Why do you dare question their quality and reference a stuffed steak pretzel with theirs. Side note: Order a head of time because they do get very busy if you are planning something. I will be coming back more often
