I’ve been going to Maxine for a year now. She’s very knowledgable and quite possibly the best skin care professional in the city. This place is a hidden gem. She always takes the time to explain your condition and the treatment she recommends and what to expect. She has such a gentle and welcoming nature unlike some other larger spas in the city. She successfully treated several hyperplasia on my face, and I’m currently getting laser treatment to smooth some old acne scarring. I also started using some products from her skin care line months ago and I’m very happy with the results. Parking is fairly convenient and much better than trying to park in center city. I highly recommend this spa.

I had my second IPL facial from Maxine four days ago and the last of my mild peeling washed off this morning. My skin looks so much healthier and (dare I say it) younger! It is smoother and noticeably more evenly toned, especially around the eyes and forehead where I have sun damage. During my visit I had a very informative conversation with Maxine, who struck me as being quite well informed about the laser machine she uses and up-​to-​date about advances in skin care. I am very confident in her skills and look forward to going back for a third visit to try her new state of the art laser.

I have had many ipl in nyc. This one i did face and neck for $ 300 total and the entire procedure took 15 min. What a rip off. DO NOT GO HERE. The technician was nice but this place is a rip off and doesn’t work. I wish there was a complaint department cuz if the machine works then it def takes longer as my other treatments have. I guess u get what u pay for. ½ price = ½ results.

I bought a Groupon for IPL and was excited like one of the reviewers.
The result: IPL didn’t deliver any improvement and I was red-​ichy-​peeling after the treatment.
What I have experienced were:
–technician briefly explained the treatment procedure
–no cleaning before the treatment
–no gel or topical anesthesia was applied before/​during the treatment
–technician warned about rubber band snapping sensation
–snap snap!
–cooling by the laser head (the part that did the snapping)
–done!
The all procedure was done within 20 minutes. I have no previous experience of IPL treatment so I can’t compare. The reason of giving 3-​star is that I feel there should be more of this treatment based on what I’ve read about the treatment, but I’m not getting them because I paid at a discounted price. I was also surprised that I had a rather severe sunburn-​peeling side effect afterwards. I was aware of the possibility but didn’t expected that my whole face would be peeling.
Conclusion… I will not go back there, although the technician was nice and welcoming, because I’m worried to have my face burned.

I have had several treatments from other places and have never been burned.
I should have known something was wrong when gel was not applied as the barrier between the laser and the skin.
I do not know about their other treatments, but my advise is DO NOT GET THE IPL.

Just bought an IPL photofacial for my mom! This is supposed to even skin pigmentation, diminish scars and wrinkles and make pores smaller… I’m really excited! I’m even more excited because I got it for $ 99 on
as opposed to the regular $ 300 per treatment!

I go here for my eyebrows – Maxine shapes and colors them and they have NEVER looked better. She takes her time and produces absolutely amazing results. She has a great sense of what makes her clients look their best; I always leave there delighted. This is a wonderful medi-​spa. Go to the website to check the specials every month, too. I’ve taken advantage of them, and you can try out new things you can’t afford at the regular prices!
