You NEED this place in your life. If you don’t know what this is, all you need is one bowl and you’re going to be addicted! Get the karai, it’s the best bowl there if you’re into a little spice! Staff is super friendly and accommodating. New renovations warmed the entire restaurant up with soft lighting and fixtures. But then again, even if this place was a hole in the wall with horrible service I’d still come just for the soup. So obsessed!

It’s quite expensive compared to Terakawa. I think they have really good ramen and I’m absolutely coming back.

I’ve been here a handful of times for lunch and each time I’ve left warm, satisfied, and with a belly full of ramen. Nom Nom Nom. Several times I’ve had the Karai Miso. Its their spicy ramen bowl with miso broth, bamboo, mushroom, naruto(fish cake– yes there’s even an emoji for it), scallions, garlic sauce and pork belly. I always add a soft boiled egg to my ramen for(I believe) an extra $ 1.00. There are other add-ons like extra meat(pork belly), extra meat cubes, extra ramen noodles, and bean sprouts, so you can customize your bowl any way you want. Or… you can up the ante and order a side of pork cheeks for $ 5.00. Succulent.(Careful though– its very easy to upgrade your ramen from $ 9.50 to $ 15.00+) More recently I tried the spicy miso with pork cheek and it was a fantastic upgrade from the original Karai Miso I was so used to. Basically the same as the spicy miso but with pork cheeks instead of pork belly, and the egg comes standard with every bowl. The meat was more flavorful and there seemed to be a bit more. Also this time, I opted to add extra chili oil which really sent me to flavor heaven. «I don’t want none unless you got pork buns, hun!» Absolutely. These are great. Two buns with each order(perfect for sharing) stuffed with pork belly, some greens and a spicy mayo. I can’t come here without ordering them now. Note: The space is somewhat small and seating is limited. If you’re rolling solo you can usually set up shop at a high-top bar stool at the window. Cash only!

I went for lunch around 11:30 a.m. on a Friday, and had my pick of seats! Service was speedy and excellent. I had the chef special– it was fine. The soup became lukewarm more quickly than I would prefer. The special was $ 12.50. It seemed more pricey than ramen should be? Maybe that’s normal, I’m not sure.

I got the Miso ramen and was pleased because I love Miso no matter where I get it because it’s hard to screw up. But this was very good! My friend also ordered us the jalapeño appetizer and some sort of meat appetizer that I can’t remember. Either way the soup was great but I’d want to explore more before I decide this is where I’d want to frequent.

Great atmosphere, good music, clean and quick service. But the food… Just a plain and simple WOW! My only regret was ordering the regular size instead of the large Karai Soup!!!

One of the better ramen places I’ve been to but not the best. Atmosphere was good, clean area with some music in the back. Personally out of ignorance I like pictures of the ramen bowls on the menu because I’m not familiar with all the ingredients and they didn’t have that so Unilocal was pretty handy. I ended up getting the new special Aka Bomb bowl which was pretty good, much more mellow than I anticipated, so I added Siracha for a bit more of a punch. My bf ordered the spicy miso bowl which was a much more smokey flavored broth. Pork belly in the bowls was the leanest Pork belly cut I’ve ever seen(good or bad depending on how heavy of a meal you prefer). Overall good spot except it’s cash only and the atm is broken!

Now with table service! A gem of a little ramen shop, serving large bowls that taste good and warm the heart.

When I walked in, I’ll admit– I was intimidated– the menu was not in English. But, dear friends, fear not! There were pictures!(I also happened to have looked at the menu online before going, which is a huge past time of mine, which had descriptions of what the food was, so I may have cheated and already knew what I wanted). The staff is also incredibly friendly and explained to me what I was getting. Phew. I ordered the Karai ramen– which is spicy, smooth miso tonkotsu broth with chashu, bamboo, kikurage mushroom, naruto, and scallions with Nom Nom Black Garlic Sauce drizzled on top. I tend to not be a fan of Naruto, which is basically a cured fish cake. I also was in one of my wanna-be vegetarian moods, so I went without meat. First of all, I don’t know about you, but whenever I eat ramen, I feel like I need one of those noodle guards for my face. You know exactly what I’m talking about. I kid you not that these things exist. I’ve only ever seen them for sale in Walt Disney World Epcot Japan… so maybe next time I’m down there I should pick one up. It would save me from so much splatter. So note to everyone who wants to go: do NOT wear a white shirt! If you’re like me, it will get splatter on it!!! Anyway, the Karai ramen was delicious. It was spicy, but not too spicy(I had to add an extra kick to it, since I like things spicy). Since I went vegetarian, I didn’t mind that I didn’t know what some of the ingredients were, and went all in. I will admit that I may have been more hesitant had I added meat.(I once went out for Ramen and a co-worker unknowingly ended up with beef heart and eyeball in his soup– but I’m pretty sure they don’t serve that here). Important to Know: They are CASHONLY, and there is NOATM on location(at least in their Rittenhouse spot, I’m not sure about U-City).

I’m taking you down. Taking you down to Chinatown. I get it, you renovated and added table service. If I remember correctly, a regular ramen used to be 7 something. Now it’s 10. Large is 14. Portions have not changed, just your prices. Still cash only and now you can’t walk out of there for less than 10 bucks. It’s still tasty. I just don’t appreciate the hike in prices.

I had the Shio Tonkotsu, the broth was thick tasty, and perfect for a cold night. Though, I liked Terakawa’s broth better. I added a little bit of chili oil to my dish and it was very good. They pork belly was pretty good, though a little tougher than some other ramen experiences. The noodles were nothing great, my least favorite thing in the bowl. The noodles didn’t seem to be made in house. If they improved the noodles, this could be really great. Service was very friendly and quick. The dining room is nicely decorated, lots of warm wood. Cash only, they do have an ATM.

Naruto approved! I treated myself to a nice regular sized bowl of Kari Tonkotsu(Spicy Miso) with a side of that super tender pork cheeks, and I gotta say… it was perdy delicious. Would I recommend this place to my family and friends? Yes… Hai!!!

My latest visit to Nom Nom had my eyes wide open and mouth agape. Wow! The renovations make the place look nice. Wood everywhere. Little Japanese kabuki masks hanging on the walls. It’s now a place worthy of bringing a date(as I’ve seen lots of guy-girl couples here last night) and no longer the sit down diner-style place it once was. It’s a shame, though, because I kind of liked the old format better. Sometimes I want to order food and sit down and be alone. I don’t mind bussing my own tray and separating bowls and utensils in the old tray drop-off area. Prices are a little higher probably to compensate for the new look. Someone’s got to pay for those masks! The ramen appears to be the same. Same style choices as before(shio, shoyu, black garlic, and karai(spicy)). Same appetizers. A good deal is $ 1 extra for pork cubes. My soup wasn’t hot as in previous visits. The broth was a lot darker and more flavorful. Overall, still one of my favorite bowls of ramen. I think Nom Nom II in West Philly makes a better bowl of ramen.

It was the first cold day of the season and I needed something to keep me warm. We decided to brave the cold for some ramen. We ordered the shio and shoyu bowls. Both the broths were bland and mediocre. The chashu was nice and smokey, but other than that, the bowls were unmemorable. I even ordered it with an egg, thinking it would add more to the ramen, but still ended up pretty underwhelmed. On the other hand, the décor was nicely done with its wooden details and light fixtures. I would give them 3 stars, but the service was terrible. Our dining experience could have been cut down by at least 20 minutes. It took way too long to receive our ramen and check, not because they were slammed with customers, but due to lack of attentiveness and an inclined interest in chit chatting with other employees. If you’re going to remodel your business, think about improving your staff as well.

I’m sick and worked all day with no break. So by the time I was done, I needed some brothy food… this was on the walk back home. My friend raved about the place but she also never had real Japanese ramen before. Maybe my taste buds are used to the delicious, creamy broths of the west coast ramen restaurants but I thought this place was just ok. The staff was friendly and nice. They only offer the smaller regular size option for take-outs. And they only accept cash. I got the karai miso ramen. Unfortunately it wasn’t as spicy as I would have liked. My old spot in CA used to have a heat level! I did like that the ramen came with a bunch of toppings vs. charging for each one. Although I added an egg for extra. I finished my ramen and am still hungry. I think this place is gonna be ok to get some warm brothy noodles on a cold day after work but I wouldn’t make the effort to come here on my days off.

3 – 3.5. Seems like a convenient lunch stop for people working around Suburban station, and portions were not overwhelmingly huge. A bowl of shio and a bowl of shoyu — by broth alone, they were very similar in taste, and were both on the salty side — I downed a glass of water on my way out. The toppings were decent; I thought the pork was done well and was not too fatty. The egg held up nicely, but the fish cake was not much of an addition. Still, the broth and extras were flavorful, the noodles had some bite, and I enjoyed how well the bowl warmed me up.

Came in for lunch on a Friday and got a table immediately. Our service was good, especially since we weren’t very needy customers. I ordered the Pork Belly Miso, which was served with a few different types of veggies, lots of noodles and soup, and 2 large pieces of pork belly. Overall, the flavor was decent, but all I kept thinking was phở is so much better. My co-worker had the Spicy Miso, which I did not try. She enjoyed it, but could only finish half of the broth because it was too spicy for her, so buyer beware! I would probably go back because I love soup, but the prices were kind of high for soup, especially when you’re looking at $ 10-$ 14, and phở costs $ 6 – 8 for much larger portions(btw, not complaining about the portion size at all, it’s just that my favorite phở places usually give enough for two meals).

Nom nom is so addictive. My coworker and I struggle with not eating at nom nom every day. Ramen is one of my favorite Japanese dishes and nom nom never ceases to amaze. The vegetarian ramen is what won me over. It’s pretty difficult to find ramen with vegetarian broth and nom nom’s is a hit! They recently renovated the restaurant and was closed for about a month and it seemed to be the longest month ever! Low and behold they’re back open and better than ever. This place has transformed from a take out restaurant to a trendy Japanese eatery. My only complaint would be the increase in prices but hey $ 10.80 is still a steal!

Nom Nom indeed. This is probably the best ramen place on this side of Broad Street! Conveniently located within 2 blocks of my work, this is one of the most satisfying lunch options I have, especially when I crave for something soupy and warm on cold days, of which there are many, nowadays. From my ample experiences, the noodles have always been reliably fresh, the broth always flavorful, and there are always plenty of toppings and condiments to choose from to spice up your ramen experience!(I’m lookin’ at you, Shichimi Toragashi 7-spice seasoning…) Also, the service is pretty quick. Though it can get busy during lunch hours, I’ve never had any issues finding a seat. This may not be the prettiest ramen joint, but it’s more of a no-nonsense kind of place where you enter, go straight for the ramen, and then you leave, but with some delicious ramen in your stomach. If your goal is to have a filling and satisfying meal within your allotted lunch hour, you can make it happen at Nom Nom Ramen!

I got recommended to this place by my cousin who lived in Philadelphia so I thought she might know which one is better ramen here so I decided to try this place out after we walked around Love Park(this place is only 4 blocks away from Love Park, so walking will be recommended as parallel parking is very limited in the central city). This place is hidden in a small street, which you have to walk in and no worries, it is there, you won’t get lost. First I thought the place is like a dine in restaurant but it appeared to be a to go or fast food restaurant where you ordered at the counter and they will bring it to you or you can get a to go ramen. I thought this was unique as the traffic can flow faster as people eat and leave then more people come(you have to bring the trays up near the trash and dump out all your stuffs to a trashcan and leave the trays back up, they won’t clean it for you, as this is not a restaurant, so clean up yourself). I ordered the regular miso ramen and added nothing and it was only 8 dollars and my fiancé ordered spicey miso(warning: it is very spicey that he couldn’t drink/taste the soup at all). The noodles were chewey enough and the soup base is flavorable(not too salty or sweet, it was just right).
