Great customer service and true neighborhood feel. I enjoy supporting small business and the staff and experience make this a go-​to

I’ve been a customer at various pharmacies across the country for the past 40+ years, including all of the big chains. However, I have never had a better experience than at Old City Pharmacy. The store reminds of when I was young and the local drug store was a place that you could always trust because the owners had your best interest in mind. That’s the way I feel about Old City Pharmacy. The pharmacists/​owners Doug and Phil are extremely caring, knowledgeable, and professional. Their employees Chrissy and Diana bend over backwards to make sure the customers are well taken care of.
The prices are also very reasonable. I compared Old City’s prices with the new CVS at 3^rd and Market. CVS charges over 4x as much for my Rx’s. That’s criminal! Old City Pharmacy is much better in every way than CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreen’s. We need to keep more businesses like this thriving in the Old City neighborhood!

This Pharmacy is amazing, their level of service and genuine compassion and concern for their customers is truly an experience that reminds you of «the good ‘olé days» (defined as life before CVS and Walgreens took over the world and drove all the family owned neighborhood pharmacies out of business).
My recent experience:
I got hit hard with the Flu and it started out as a very bad stomach flu, I can’t recall ever being so sick before.
After being up all night throwing up, I googled «pharmacy delivery «and found old city pharmacy.
I had never been there before and was not yet a customer.
I called with the last bit of strength I had left in my body.
I asked if they could deliver medicine to my home.
The helpful person I spoke to took my name and number and said she would contact my Dr office for me and also get my insurance information from them or another pharmacy since I was so sick and just for me to rest.
I passed out and actually even forgot I even called anyone.
A few hours later, they called me and said that my prescription was ready, they had billed by insurance, and they were going to bring it right over to my house (the co-​pay was only $ 3.00 too!)
When she arrived, she refused under any circumstances to accept a tip from me!
If anyone out here lives alone with no family close by, you cannot imagine what a life saver this was to me and how much the level of service and kindness /​compassion meant to me when I was soo sick and had no one to help me.
The anti-​nausea medicine they brought me stopped me from throwing up again within 30 mins of taking it.
Thank you again for all your help!
Anyone who lives local should switch to using them instead of the big boys ASAP!

a) pharmacists behind the counter understand their prescriptions and make an effort to relay important adverse effects and interactions with customers. A parent visiting from out of town was taking a new BP medication which made her pass out, pharmacist diagnosed what was happening and suggested what medication she switch to and to call her PCP. It was really encouraging to see such consideration and empathy in the hustle bustle of a city.
b) pharmacists will take time to call your physician or health insurance to help resolve problems you might be having with current medication.
c) they sell lime flavored Emergen-​C! Best flavor, and their the only ones who have it.
Honestly, the staff at Old City Pharmacy are dedicated to their profession and seem to really care about their customers. They are, the best!

Very clean, very simple, very easy. Used the Unilocal checkin for a free candy bar w/​my prescription. I also have a $ 5.00 off first over the counter prescription (so for my next advil purchase…) They were so easy to work with and even called me prior to confirm my prescription! Wow, service is here, finally in Philly. Did I mention its clean?

Such great service! I honestly couldn’t ask for a better pharmacy. The staff is always so friendly and go above and beyond every time I am there.
