I live in the neighborhood and really wanted to like Potito’s since there aren’t any other good bakeries in the area. However, I have been here three times now and have been disappointed each time. The prices for their pastries are generally slightly higher than other bakeries such as Swiss Haus in the city and the quality is worse. I found the cookies to be dry. I tried the cannoli last time and found the shell not cripsy enough and the filling excessively sweet. Given the high prices and poor quality, I’d rather go elsewhere or, in a pinch, even Whole Food’s bakery.

Great bakery. Was visiting from New York. I found a great selection of cakes, cookies, pastries and breads. I purchased Apple strudel and French baguette both of which were fresh and well received at my guests house. The staff was attentive and polite. I look forward to my next visit to philly so I can stop by again!

My friend and I happened upon Potito’s after a visit to McCrossen’s last weekend. We were on our way to the park to be lazy and enjoy the nice weather, so we stopped in to buy some baked goods to bring along. The bakery itself is quite small. There are two cases of pastries and then some more behind the counter. They also make coffee drinks, but we didn’t try those. There’s a section near the door where they sell day-old bread for 50 percent off, so that’s nice. They seem to be known for their cannoli. My friend purchased a pumpkin flavored one and watched as it was filled on the spot! Very cool. She also said that it was tasty. They listed off several other cannoli options, so I’ll have to stop back sometime and try one. I purchased a cherry danish and a cinnamon roll, which cost less than $ 3 together. Not a bad price-tag considering how big they were! I’ll definitely be back to try more of the baked goods and maybe to even pick up a loaf of bread. It’s great to have this spot in the neighborhood.

Wanted so much to love this place. Despite the flies buzzing around the pastry case, we ordered a cannoli. It was clearly fried in rancid fat. Blech! I’m surprised, as the other location has a good reputation.

I stumbled across the Art Museum area storefront of Potitos and was happily surprised. The place is super cute and super inexpensive for what it is. They have a bunch of displays highlighting their creatively delicious treats(such as a cannoli stuffed with 100 mini cannolis), and they’re obviously still very(Italian) family-run! When we decided to go in and try something, my friend and I each chose a cookies as a quick treat: the total came out to $ 1.00. The store workers behind the counter were all very friendly and welcoming to us — which you don’t see every day in Philadelphia! Overall, I’m glad I now know about Potito’s, and I will be happy to visit their other locations in South Philly or Center City whenever I’m nearby.

I got a chocolate strawberry cake. DELICIOUS! and kind of unexpected. T got her birthday cake slices here. They were like wedding cake consistency and delicious.

Potito’s has the best cannolis that I’ve ever eaten. The frosting is sweet and the shell has a hint of cinnamon. Aside from cannolis, Potito’s has a bakery that sells reasonably priced fresh bread. They also sell day-old bread at half price. On my most recent visit I was on the hunt for a good loaf to make garlic bread. I’ve had their fresh bread in the past and decided that a French bread would work well. Unfortunately, the only French bread was day old but since it would be toasted anyways I figured that would be fine. The two girls working the register told me that the bread was actually baked that day and in the wrong bin. They moved it to a bottom bin and sold it to me for full price. The bread was already wrapped and had a black line on the bag. I got home and told my husband this story and he immediately said that I was duped. And he was absolutely right. Being an honest person, I’m not on the look out for neighborhood bakery employees looking to score a few extra dollars. The next day I placed a call to the manager, Joe, and he confirmed that I was sold day old bread at full price. He apologized for this situation and offered me a fresh loaf to rectify the situation. We were able to get a fresh ciabatta and it was fantastic. The products are good and the management is professional and accountable, and I want to support a local business hence my 4 star review. However, I write this as a warning so that this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Black line = day old. Don’t get fooled.

They set up shop in Fairmount not too long ago. It’s great place to pick up coffee in the morning or a small dessert at the end of the day. I would also recommend the Peanut Butter Chocolate Ganache. It’s a dynamite dessert!

I went to a party where their dry and uninteresting cookies were served. They might be a nice treat for kids who want a sugar fix but don’t care too much about what they are eating. I wish their cannolli were filled to order instead of sitting all in a case; wish they didn’t have so many unappetizing flavors — simple is always better; wish they made mini-cannoli. I don’t want to eat a whole cannolli and I am not going to spend $ 4 to throw half of it away. When they start selling mini’s I’d love to taste one. I live nearby and could become addicted.

Stopped here to get a couple cupcakes for a birthday, and they were awfully dry. The only way to get it down was to drink a huge glass of milk, and it still wasn’t all too enjoyable. I will be sure to steer away from the cakes if I ever come back again!

Oh, Potito’s! I couldn’t resist picking up two cannolis on my way to the yoga studio this weekend. I wasn’t so much a fan of the vanilla Italian cream, but the ricotta with chocolate chips were everything that I dreamed about. At almost $ 4 each, this might be a treat for special occasions.

The original South Philly store recently opened another shop, just off of Spring Garden St. Stopped by and enjoyed a delicious chocolate covered cannoli to go, which was on par with what they offer in S Philly. The shop appears to sell sandwiches and coffee as well, which I think is specific to this location.
