My first one star review. Was excited to try this place because I love the other restaurants in the Piazza, but PYT was a disappointment. The service is extremely slow (food took over 40 minutes to reach table), the music is way too loud, and the food isn’t really anything special. I got a burger subbed with a fried veggie patty and it was soggy and falling apart. Won’t be back.

I know this place has closed, but I still feel the need to review it. It was bad. Like terrible. It was dirty and gross… most of the food was inedible. The employees there were complete crap and treated the guests horribly. I think the only reason they got a small surge of business was because of that Mccoy issue… if they hadn’t had that happen… they would’ve closed long ago. I went here as a present to my friend for her bday and I regretted it immediately. It really is no wonder why it’s shut down now.

Wide variety of interesting burger ideas, most good, some just bizarre. Got a chicken and waffles burger with a side of self-​loathing but it was yummy nonetheless. The plaza where it is located provides for a nice atmosphere to eat outdoors.

I’ve been here several times and after my last visit I swore off PYT for a few reasons. The last review I posted I received horrible messages telling me how they felt about me and my review (language I would prefer not to use)
My last visit wasn’t any better so I wasn’t surprised. Service was horrible. It took 20min to get a shake and another 20 to get a greasy burger with some witty but disgusting toppings.
Again save your time and money. Unless you look like your homeless and you hate great service and eatable food, then you’ll fit right in.
Maybe Unilocal will actually keep this post up and maybe I won’t get threatening messages this time.

I’m not sure if it was because the gay dudes I brought with me threw attitude, but the gay waiter was totally throwing ‘tude our way. I say, just kiss it out, gurlssss.
Whatever, the alcohol milkshakes were THE TITS.

My friends and I stopped in for burgers to-​go while we were in Philly for a day. There was a lot of hype (both positive and negative) about the place, so we decided it was a must-​visit while we were there.
The four of us went in groups of two while the other two stayed with our car that was parked illegally in an apartment complex (is Philly really that bad with public parking, or maybe it was just the area near PYT not having any parking?)
The menu had a lot of crazy looking burgers, but I had to go with the classic PYT Burger. Even trying to eat it in the back seat of a car and trying not to make a mess while my friend struggled with the terrible Philly traffic, I have to say I was impressed!
While a little soggy due to the to-​go container, the waffle fries had a good flavor and I’m assuming they’d taste much better if I ate them in the restaurant. The burger was very good, with the PYT sauce being that classic mayo/​ketchup sorta mix that I was expecting.
I can’t say I’d get PYT the next time I visit Philly due to the massive amount of places I still need to visit, but it was definitely a great burger which is what I was expecting!

One of my consistently favorite places in Philly. Tried something new today. The pickle back burger cooked perfectly and dual parts amazing and delicious. Had a tea drink with cola and I need to b on my front porch swing it’s so good. Also the buffalo chicken fries are my new go to order. Cured the hangover and left me wanting more

This joint was a little tough to spot from the street, not being local. It’s inside the courtyard of the old Schmidt’s.
Once inside the music was a bit loud but I’m ok with that. There was a decent size bar as well as seating area. Barmaid was bad ass. Witty and gorgeous.
We started with buffalo chicken bites which are rolled in blue cheese then deep fried after that tossed in buffalo sauce. These were amazing.
Ordered the donut cheesesteak burger. Burger topped with cheesesteak with wiz and onions on a donut bun. A little pricey but so worth it. It was delicious. Fresh patty, sweet glazed donut which was balanced by the salt of the wiz. Well balanced, fresh and tasty. I also paid extra to substitute onion rings in place of fries.
Went back a second time for the burger of the week. The cheesesteak bun burger. Exactly what it sounds like a burger with lettuce, tomato and wiz and has cheesesteaks as buns. It was pretty delicious but I still like the do’nut burger more. Again onions rings are a must with the chipotle mayo. Music was better this time not as loud. Great joint Go There !

I’ve been hearing about this place since I moved here 4 years ago but somehow hadn’t ever been, despite hanging out in the Piazza a fair amount. I had heard a bunch of negative things and wasn’t in a rush to get there to try it out. A friend and I decided to head over for a late bite, around 9:45p on a Wednesday.
We were greeted & seated immediately and everyone was really friendly. We ordered drinks & our respective meals; I got the PYT burger. I added onion rings instead of fries, asked for sauce on the side & my friend added bacon. A few hiccups: my burger came with fries by mistake and they were out of the drink she wanted. That said, my burger was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and it was so delicious! They brought me out the onion rings a short time later, with an apology. Honestly the onion rings weren’t even great but the fries were awesome.
I had a jalapeño/​habanero drink and it too was really good. Our service was great (her name was Kelly) and none of the rumors I had heard before were true during my time there. I can’t wait to go back & try a boozy milkshake and a different burger, or maybe get brave (read: stupid) and order their off the menu secret fried beer burger!

Now I know why Lesean McCoy left a 20 cent tip on a $ 61 bill.
Horrible service, rude staff and it took 40 minutes for me to get my burger. Note, this was at 9:30PM on a Tuesday. DO NOT GO HERE!

I was slightly disappointed. I expected so much more of their burgers, but unfortunately my Pickleback burger was very well-​done. In other words, it was dry as a rock and had no drip of fat what so ever. I wasn’t blown away by the taste either. M had the pretzel cheesesteak burger (not sure if that was the exact name), and his meat was dry as well.
Why 3 stars? It was a cool place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon, people watching on a hot day under the umbrella. I also had the cookie monster shake which was delish. They’re not stingy on the booze, that’s for sure. M had the mexican chocolate shake — also awesome.
Staff was friendly and welcoming, but thinking of those dry bland burgers makes me not want to come back here.

I’ll admit that the menu is just so enticing. Milkshakes spiked with booze. Just about any kind of burger you can think of. But PYT takes on a lot more than it can handle. It should probably stick to a smaller menu and not stuff so much into the burger or on top.
I ordered the cheesesteak pretzel roll burger which isn’t on the menu anymore so I guess my review is less useful. I enjoy a good pretzel bun and I’ll have to say that it was probably my favorite part.
My adult milkshake tasted more like alcohol than j was expecting but I’m a light weight so I’m sure most people love them.
If you go to PYT, spend a little time in the piazza on a nice day. It’s a gorgeous place for people watching and nice shops to visit.

Went here with co-​workers for a work lunch on a Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend. Even though it was kind of windy out it was warm and nice so we were seated outside as requested at 1PM. What proceeded was some of the worst service and dining experiences I’ve ever had. It took about 15 — 20 mins for us to get the menus. While looking over the menu and waiting another 10 mins for our waitress to come back and take our orders, the bamboo covering the outside bar fell off behind us barely missing those sitting on that side of the table and then the wooden barrel with a bamboo pole holding up the strand of christmas lights blew over and light bulb glass broke everywhere. At this point we decided to move inside. While seated inside for another hour a waiter finally came over to apologize for the food saying that the kitchen was understaffed and that our food would be out shortly. While waiting we spotted some employees outside cleaning up the mess of the glass. They proceeded to re-​erect the barrel and pole that fell over and tape it with duck tape to that it wouldn’t fall over again… this seemed like a safety hazard to me as the wind continued throughout the night…
I ordered the Big **s Cobb Salad with Chicken as I do not eat red meat and non of my other options appealed to me. It was nothing to write home about and there was barely any chicken. We didn’t leave the restaurant until about 3PM. It was all in all a bad experience and I think that will be my first and last time at PTY.

PYT is the kind of place that lures you in with the novelty. Everytime I come here I assume I’m going to have an awesome meal, something crazy, and in the end, it usually falls short… 2.5 stars is more like it…
What to avoid:
The buffalo chicken slicers on waffle fries — should be called buffalo bites, also a ridiculous $ 12 for 4 small bites.
The philly cheese steak fries = $ 12 for fries is pretty ridiculous, so I assumed they would be layered in steak and cheese since they cost as much as a burger… wrong! Barely any meat and the whole bottom half had no cheese at all!
Possibly:
The regular burgers — decent burgers, but nothing you can’t get anywhere else.
The chicken ranch bacon burger — again nothing out of this world, but good flavor
The birthday adult milkshake — this is a beautiful novelty item if you have a birthday here, a full cupcake on a shake with a lit candle. The shake was just ok, the cupcake tasted like it was a day old from shoprite. The presentation is fabulous though, especially if you are on a date.
I think the ambiance is cool here, the outside seating in the summer is great to hang out in the piazza and people watch with some pricey fries and a drink. They play decent music as well, just know that if it’s awesome food you are going after, this is probably not the spot. For that extra star, I definitely need lower prices or better taste.

I’ve been to this restaurant around five times. And every time the service is terribly slow.
I will agree that the food is interesting and pulls you in. However, most of my meals have been. fine. The only thing that I really like there (and have gone back for) was the cheese steak burger with a pretzel bun. It was delicious. But… if you’re in Philly you could just go get an actual cheese steak and not deal with terrible service. Krispy Kreme burger is eh. Hot dogs are nothing special.
The adult milkshakes are delicious.
So. if its a warmer day/​evening and you have a lot of time– PYT is a nice place to go to because their outside area is pretty sweet. Fireplaces/​heaters and pretty decent food. Definitely Hipster. Service and waitresses have been pretty terrible.

I think PYT gets a lot of bad pub for the way they handled the LeSean McCoy mess, but it’s not a terrible place at all. The food is interesting, the adult milkshakes are great, and it’s a great place to eat outside with the giant TV in the Piazza. It’s a really great location.
I’ve heard stories about putrid service, but have never experienced such a situation.

Travel and Leisure was right about their donut burger, one of the best! I had high expectations for this place after having had amazing donut burgers in OK and TX, but this one was the BEST. The sugar glaze on the donut mixed with the bacon hamburger was the perfect sweet and salty mix!
The other reviewers are 100% correct about the adult milkshakes, a must have! We had the Cookie Monster milkshake which tasted like an alcoholic liquid Oreo, yum!
Their fries and mimosas were great too!
We spent $ 76 including tip for two burgers, two mimosas, and one milkshake, but worth it for a good hangover meal and something unique! I would go back!

With a menu full of tasty and creative burger/​sandwich options, adult milkshakes, and awesome waffle fries, PYT has so much going for them. yet they always seem to come up short. I’ve been here multiple times (slacking on the check-​ins!) and no matter how empty the place is, service is always slow without apologies for the consistently long waits. The first few times, I tried to tell myself it was slow but the food was so good its worth the wait, but I’m not so sure about that anymore.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but end up here whenever I’m looking to take guests somewhere different. The burgers/​sandwiches are good, especially if you’re up for eating burgers and cheesesteaks sandwiched between donuts and waffles. The chicken and waffles sandwich is a nice brunch alternative to a burger.

PYT definitely has a lot of variety I’ll give them that but the food here is just medicore. Ordered a PYT burger and yes it was juicy but it lacked flavor. They put way too much mayo on the PYT burger. it was literally going all over the place (it actually didn’t even say on the menu there was mayo). The waffle fries that came with the burgers were at least decent but still not worth the $ 12.
The service here is subpar — it’s slow and our waiter was not attentive at all. He pretty much just took our order and gave us our food and that was it. We had to get up to get the check and pay.
Bathrooms here are pretty disgusting. There is also only one co-​ed bathroom with multiple stalls which can be a bit uncomfortable for some. Don’t think I’ll be coming back.
