This store is packed full of things pulled out of old rowhomes. Piles of hardware and doors and tiles and radiator covers and anything else you can think of. I went to 2 big box hardware stores, 1 mom-and-pop, and then bought from 2 online reproduction hardware stores and had no luck replacing a doorknob in my 100 year old home. ONE trip here with the old hardware and I walked out with functional hardware that actually fits, works, and is in line with the age of my house. The owner seems to be very knowledgeable and is more interested in making sure you have exactly what you need than selling you something that might work, in order to make a buck.

One of my favorite things about our new location is the history. Sure California has history but it’s from the 1900’s vs the 1700’s. The old houses out here are just amazing. Bonus of having lots of old houses around is that you also get a plethora of salvage stores. Something we really don’t have out West, and you cannot count Goodwill. This place is housed in a big old building in a residential neighborhood. You almost think you are in the wrong place. Until you walk in. It’s two floors of old salvagey goodness. I’m not an avid salvage shopper(yet?) so I couldn’t tell you why this place is awesome other than it is awesome. Old doors, old tiles, old windows, old shutters, old vents, old doorknobs, old mirrors, old fireplaces, old toilets(yes I could skip that one)…you name it, if it’s old they probably have one or 100 of them. On our first visit they had a stunning textured daisy patterned glass door that I wanted for a bathroom to bring some light into a dark hallway. It was priced at an amazing $ 150. For a solid wood door from what, the early 1900’s? Love. Go here and shop. The owner is intriguing, no nonsense and will be up front with you on if they have what you are looking for. Oh and I already asked, they aren’t taking any more pink or blue bathroom items. Drat.

It is a small but very well organized salvage store. They have a great selection of hardware banisters spindles, toilets, doors and the prices are competitive if not slightly less than what I usually find at salvage places. There is no snooty or intimidating vibe here. The owner used to be a carpenter and she is very willing to talk to you about your projects and try to help you find the correct materials for the job. If she doesn’t know something she is honest about it. Just a real pleasure to do business with.

Customer service is what it’s all about when you walk through the door. Linda is a pleasure to deal with and talk to, extremely helpful. I explained what I was going for with my project and she understood what I wanted and proceeded to show all of the options with a bit of history on the pieces. Let me tell you, it seems harder and harder these days to find that kind of help. The old reclaimed items are great as well and they are in abundance. Did I mention the customer service? If your into rare one of a kind items you wont be disappointed.

Super clean and organized, antique doors are labeled by size making for easy shopping. Amazing farmhouse sinks and some gorgeous iron fencing that would be perfect in a garden, mention the claw foot tub that would be just perfect in my dream bathroom! Can’t wait to come back!

Restore NEVER disappoints me. Even if I don’t find exactly what I am looking for I have a great time and it always inspires me to think about things in a new way or think of my project in a new light. The owner is very interesting to speak with and very helpful. She doesn’t just sell the objects, she has a history to tell about everything if you are interested. For me, and my boyfriend, knowing where something came from adds to its value. A little bit of history is cool. We bought the most amazing kitchen swinging door to use as a headboard. The wood was worn from hands pushing the wood and brass plate. I love it. There is a wide selection of interior doors, screens, toilets and claw-foot tubs. There are columns, architectural details, brass fixtures, bathroom faucets and a terrific selection ceramic tiles. Bring an imagination, a problem, and tape measure.(Pretty much everything has measurement on it — doors and windows… but just in case) I fin dit can be helpful too to bring a photo of the project you are working on, as an example of the style. Or if you are trying to match a wood trim element. She is open Wednesday thru Saturday. But I would advise going in the work week… fewer people to compete with. Check out her website at for directions and times.

I made my first visit to this store on Wed., did not buy anything but really liked looking around. I could only get to the basement with my stroller in tow so I can only comment on half of the store. It was really well organized and clean. Their selection of doors is phenomenal. Most need a bit of work and I am not in the mood to refinish a door. I’m sure I will be back with the baby in a carrier so that I can see the rest of the store.
