Great local bar! The bartender, Star, was amazing and very welcoming. The prices are extremely reasonable and the music was my jam! The bartender went out of her way to entertain us during our night out and to make us feel like we belonged there. I hear that it is becoming a Mexican restaurant which is very upsetting. I will be sad to lose such a wonderful local establishment.

So here’s the thing about Robert’s Twi-light Lounge, it’s a hidden treasure on the corner of 20th and Bainbridge. I suggest everyone take advantage of the opportunity to come to this place as much as they can before it closes down! It was recently bought out and we still don’t know when the closing date is. I find myself spending most of my weekends here. It’s seriously the best! Cheap booze, great juke and awesome bartenders.

Awesome vibe and warm bartender. The music(jukebox) is fantastic and on Wednesday after 10pm you get a balloon with a drink. inside of it you will get a prize of some sort! City wide special is $ 5. The place is recently bought by the owners of Loco Pez in downtown and heard that it will be turned into a restaurant later. Staff is unsure of when the transition will happen, but go before end of 2015 for sure! Cash only.

In Philly for a few days and found this small low-key bar in the area. Great atmosphere and awesome company. It was a slow Sunday night, but the bartender, Star, and a couple of regulars made the night memorable with some jukebox jams and great personalities. Adding to the reason why I’m sad to leave Philly in a couple days.

A nice, relaxed dive that looks like it used to be a Mexican restaurant. It does look a little sketchy from the outside, but the bartenders were friendly and quick enough to bring a drink. People wandered in an out while we were there, most people seemed to know one another. City wide special seems to be the drink of choice. Cheap drinks, order simple pours or beer. We were there on a Thursday, and I did not see any of the jazz that people were speaking of, which is a real shame. It sounds like it is the luck of the draw when there is live music playing. I’d wander through here again to try to catch the music.

This place is magical. A friend of a friend lives nearby, and it may as well have been the sole purpose of my visit to Philly. You must [MUST] go on a Wednesday night for Balloon Night. With each drink, you receive a Balloon. When you pop the balloon, it reveals your prize. Think like a children’s birthday party, but instead of a clown you have Sultry Star serving the punch. And if you’re lucky, your prize just might be a smooch from that sweet and saucy bartender herself. Friendly regulars add to the fun. Cash only; drinks are super cheap.

Chill. Suzy the bartender is cool. Her drinks can be hit or miss but otherwise this is a nice chill spot that doesn’t advertise after hours but has stayed open post 2am the numerous times ive been. Decent crowd, fun music.

Love this place. Low-key vibe, affordable drinks, sweet bartender. Best part is the Jazz on Thursdays! Decorated for the holidays — all the tables are wrapped in wrapping paper!

Looks can be deceiving… from the outside this place looks sketchy but it’s not so bad on the inside. It’s not somewhere I would seek out but it’s not bad if it’s cold and you don’t want to walk far to a nicer bar. I heard that they have good live music… Maybe I’ll be back.

The most magical place in Philadelphia. I lived around the corner from here for years and I’m so glad it’s still around. It’s small. It’s dark. it’s cheap. There is r/b & soul on the jukebox and 6 $ STRONG long island iced teas on the bar. Don’t put on Van Halen or something and be an asshole. This is not the place to order anything complicated. They have music some nights, it’s always on & off. Usually a three piece with people from the neighborhood or other musicians joining in. The kitchen has pretty basic bar food, when it’s open. The crab cakes are bangin’. As to people complaining about this place, I lived doors away for years(probably longer than you) and never had an issue. Sometimes there would be sounds that spilled out in the sidewalk but, get this, it’s a bar. It was never loud enough for me to hear in my house. The yuppie bars up on South Street a few blocks up make more consistent noise than Twilite. CASHONLY

Woooo! This place is pretty cool. It was like I went back in time to bar my parents used to hangout at. The staff is super nice and if you play your cards right you might get free food. All in all a fun neighborhood dive.

This bar has an incredible house band on Wednesdays and a spotless restroom. Seriously, it’s an honor for me to use these facilities. If my 5 star review has convinced you to visit this place and you ruin the cleanest dive bar bathroom in Philadelphia, I will slay you where you stand. I will rend flesh from bone and mail photos of it to your parents. Do not ruin this bathroom for me or I will see you in he– Ahem Um As I was saying, Think of this place as if Bob n Barbra’s moved a buncha blocks west and didn’t get nearly as packed. The bartender and patrons are friendly. The booze is reasonably priced. The 3-piece band plays for a crowd of 16 as if they are in a packed stadium. I like this place a lot.

Dive bar around the corner that offers the Philly special WHAT!!! This place bring a weird mishmosh of folks from the neighborhood as any real dive bar should. The bartenders all have great personalities and the manager is a super nice guy. Get real and get over here.

Rolled in on a Friday into karaōke night. Looks a bit like an old Mexican restaurant inside with dim 70’s bar lamps. We quickly became six sevenths of the white people in the bar. People were doing some fine slow jams at karaōke. Service initially took a bit of time, but 6 High Lifes and 6 whiskeys were quickly ordered by my pal. The whiskey shots were huge, almost doubles. Totally price was less than $ 50 so it was only like $ 2.50 to $ 3.50 per drink or so. Some friendly(read: getting drunk) ladies started chatting with us and I was ordered by the karaōke DJ’s wife to do a duet with her(«I Got You Babe»). My buddy and I later started singing some songs together and we were dubbed the Beach Boys(white dudes who sing?) by a jolly fellow at the end of the bar.(We later did«Kokomo» and«Barbara Ann» as homage to our nickname.) By 2:30 in the morning most people were hammered and EVERYONE in the bar got up to sing«We Are The World» at the top of their lungs and hug each other. I guess it was one of the only true integrated experiences I’ve ever had. All it took was cheap beer and fun music. Awesomeness.

Robert’s Twi-Lite Lounge was the litmus test I used after a few dates to see if a guy is actually cool. If he faltered before entering or was unable to have a good time I’d call it quits soon after. This little neighborhood spot is exactly what a corner bar should be: a mixed crowd of all ages and types, heavy on the liquor and easy on the wallet. Some nights you’ll be lucky enough to stumble in to live jazz, others it will be the jukebox bumping with some of your favorite Al Green(it just may have been me who put it on). People will dance, talk baseball and be overall inviting. The bartenders are sweet and remember your name, sometimes from a block away in the Italian market a week later! The food here is hearty if you come on a night when the kitchen is open. Classic soul food, the mac and cheese and greens are a must. The cook is nice and no afraid to pack a plate. Be mindful it’s cash only, and I like to tip the heck out of the service here as they are honestly some of the kindest people in Grad Hospital.

If I were a cat, this would be my fireplace. And we’re flexible, feline or not. You can come in here and chat up the bartendress, chat up the person next to you, or just drink and do your own thing/thang. With a side of FRIEDWHOLECHICKENLEGQUARTERS, MACANDCHEESE, ANDTWOSLICESOFTEXASTOAST… FORFIVEDOLLARS. (check if Eric, the cook, is around… and he’ll be around later than usual as long as you encourage him and tell him that he’s a good cook! And he is — just a little kitchen/home drama. Don’t tell.) If you’re in the neighborhood, or don’t want to get too… mainstream…at Ten Stone… then cross a few blocks(two from South?) and try this super chill place with some of their nibbles.

First, the name of the bar is spelled wrong on here — it’s «Twi-Lite.» Anyway, I love this place. It’s like Bob and Barbara’s, yet undiscovered by hipsters, which makes it way cooler than B&B’s. Thursday is jazz night, and the music is really good. The bartender can’t make things like Manhattans or whiskey sours, but the Long Island Iced Teas are wicked. People are friendly and welcoming. What’s not to like? Check it out for yourself, before everyone else finds out about it and ruins it.

It’s always so funny when someone with one review comes on and badmouths something and claims a certain race. «There are those of us who work for a living.» OUCH! That’s says a lot about the person writing the review! I frequent this bar when I’m in Philly and I CERTAINLY work for a living! Anyway, I love this place. And show me a bar that doesn’t get loud and doesn’t have people occasionally acting badly — it’s alcohol! It’s not known to make people plant flowers! Good bar to go into whatever color you are. Get to know people in the neighborhood instead of judging them. Most of them work, most of them like to unwind after a day of work, a couple of them get rowdy when they drink… hmmm, sounds like any other neighborhood.
