Staying down the street at a nearby hotel and walking around looking for a close place to eat, my friend and I stopped by the Standing O. Typical bar food, nothing special with a somewhat generic interior. The flatbread was ok, the crabcakes were tiny and the street tacos were cold with chewy taco shells. I think they were supposed to be hard tacos, but one can never be sure. Either way, unimpressive and not at all appetizing. On top of it, the restaurant was slow, and so was the service. It seemed to take forever to get the check, and everything else on top of it.

We’re staying in the hotel. So we went downstairs to watch the game and have a beer. We were sat by the waiter who never once helped us. The bartender didn’t say a single word to me as I schlepped my own drinks and glasses back and forth from the bar to my table. He would look up to acknowledge the fact that I was standing there. He would raise an eyebrow indicating he was ready for my orders. So, a rule of mine is get out of the hotel to explore and eat. If you are staying at the double tree by Hilton in Philly, get out and see the city. Go to the Italian Market.

While staying in the hotel over a long weekend, we chose convenience over quality. I regret this. Food was basic bar food, poorly prepared. What really killed it was the service. Both times the place was not busy, both times the service was painfully slow and lacking. The server knew nothing about the beers on tap. He was extremely inattentive and never had any apologies or excuses. The restaurant/bar looks out over the lobby which is kind of a casual/interesting place to sit with a drink… but don’t order the food. There are so many places in the area you can walk to… go anywhere but here.

I had the crab cake appetizer which was perfect! Would recommend that appetizer to everyone! I had the Caesar salad with chicken for the main course. Dessert I had the brownie with ice cream which was delicious. For hotel food it was above average! The atmosphere and music were good. The service was prompt.

Oh boy. Where do i start… Atmosphere… typical hotel restaurant and bar. Clean functional. Nothing out of the ordinary. Drinks…some creative mixed drink specials. Basic beer options on draft and bottled. Saw no mention of wine selection. Food… below average. Fries were soggy and mushy. Ordered also a quesadilla that i had to remind the waiter about. I waited so long at that point i asked for it to go. He finally brought it reporting«sorry i forgot it, it was just sitting there. I didnt see it». Quite appetizing to know my food has sat under a heat lamp for 20ish minutes. Service… lacking. Several times my group attempted to get up from the table and go to the bar in order to get refills, simply or order, or to check on my quesadilla situation. Waiter was extremely inattentive, and it was not crowded. It was a saturday at 3pm. Even if youre staying at the attatchdd hotel, walk the extra minute to the many local restaurants right near there.

Appetizers and desserts. I will start off by saying that I did not have a full meal here — I was a guest here and stopped by for appetizers and desserts. Both appetizers were decent — the artichoke dip and the french onion soup — nothing to write home about, but tasty. The cheesecake was very good — a New York style, very dense, creamy and rich. The best of all was their Tropical martini, however. Mandarin vodka, Midori, Coconut rum, Sprite and pineapple juice — the first martini that I ever remembered the ingredients because I enjoyed it so much

The Standing O is Doubletree’s bar/restaurant, and I can’t recommend them for anything. 3 of us went there for a drink. The drink menu is fine, but the draft list is pretty lackluster. I had an old-fashioned, which was watered down to nothing. I couldn’t taste the Jim Beam at all. While I did not eat at Standing O, I feel like that was a wise decision. The kitchen area is pretty small, and taking a peek behind the counter suggests most of their food is pre-made. Our waiter was inattentive at best. The room wasn’t crowded at all, and most of the staff seemed to hang around near the kitchen. When our bill arrived, we were informed the credit card machine was not working. Everything about our experience suggests this is not a place that cares about their guests. If you are staying at this hotel(which looks lovely), I would recommend trying some of the surrounding restaurants and/or bars. Monk’s Café, Good Dog Bar, and Perch Pub are all within 2 blocks of here.

How does this restaurant still stay in business? I came here a couple of weeks ago for a 7 day seminar. On Sunday, three of my colleagues and I went to this restaurant to grab lunch. We only had an hour. Basically, in a nutshell, my waiter got my order completely wrong! I ordered 3 tacos, instead he gave me 3 crab cakes. By the time the correct meal was served, my colleagues were finished. The waiter was apologetic, but emphasized that it was the kitchen’s mistake, not his. All four of us tried to wave our waiter down for the checks. Since my colleagues were staying at the hotel, they simply wrote their room numbers as payment. I told them to go back to the seminar. Our lunch hour was over and who knew when the waiter would come back! I felt my blood pressure rise and rise as I saw the waiter milling around the other side of the restaurant, not paying attention to me or the credit card I was waving. It took some time, but he came back. Mind you, the waiter didn’t even comp my meal or even give me a courtesy soft drink. Lesson learned! Never coming back here again.

If I could give them a negative star I would. My lettuce was wilted and warm and my steak was freezing cold!!! Most disappointing meal I have ever had! Nice hotel but horrible food. The service sucked too. The people were nice just too busy and it isn’t because they wee short staffed! There were manager types walking around NOT helping bit rather making it difficult on people. Hate this meal!!! It was horrible!!! Do NOT eat here!!!

We were staying at the Doubletree for business. Stopped here for drinks. High priced drinks, wait staff was not friendly(didn’t seem like they wanted to wait on us) and the service was s-l-o-w!

We stopped here before the Birbiglia show looking for something in 30 minutes or less, which proved important because Birbigs bent a handful of the late-arrivers over a barrel and showed them the 48 states. We had some chicken quesadillas and some lettuce wraps and really they were decent for a hotel haunt. At one point, though, a server dropped a pickle accidentally, and Mrs. Bluewater and I counted ten different occasions of other servers just stepping over said pickle. Finally some stoic, bad-ass looking manager guy came in and scooped it into the trash. If you’re catching a show down by the Kimmel Center and you’re pressed for time, this place will get you out of a pickle. — Billy Bluewater

If you are considering eating a meal here, please just don’t. Run the other direction. If you are exhausted from traveling and cannot handle the thought of walking farther than the hotel lobby, rest assured that choosing NOT to eat would be better than eating here. I had to explain to my waiter what a hard cider was. Service was abominable. My fork was taken with my appetizer that I barely ate and not replaced until 5 minutes later when I finally saw the waiter again. No apology, just laughter. The food was cold and disgusting. I sent it back after only having 2 bites, yet was charged for the full meal. Please, for the love of all that is holy, do not even consider eating here.

… Coming from Cali, I was expecting a lot venturing off to another state for food adventures but ended up being disappointed. The waiter got one of our orders incorrect; instead of chicken cheese steak he brought out steak cheese steak. Fries were cold. Open faced steak sandwich had no character in it. Also, the meat was bland. Did not try any of the cocktails, but maybe those are better than their food.

Doesn’t stand out from your typical hotel bar. Spacious, quiet, clean, dim lighting, but not too much in the way of ambiance. However, we walked in, sat down at a table, ordered at the bar, and we ended up confused as to whether the bartender or the waitress was in charge of our bill. Yeah, hotel bars are notorious for being overpriced. We ordered a wine that’s typically $ 10 a bottle for about $ 14 a glass. No waiter service – we walked the wines to the table ourselves. They had some beer can advertised outside on the chalkboard for $ 2 ~ $ 3 each, but when we walked inside, these deals weren’t written anywhere and didn’t match the beers that were on draft. That was kind of confusing. Eh, if you’re staying at the Doubletree and have cash to burn/don’t feel like going far for your libations, the Standing O isn’t a bad choice. But do a little research – the Perch Pub is right across the street, although it may get a bit rambunctious – and you might be able to grab some better quality drinks. There are also several other bars within walking distance.

This is a typical hotel bar. It is useful for warding off starvation, but that’s about it. I didn’t think it was possible for me to EVER not love spinach artichoke dip, but this place has proven me wrong. Wow. I wonder what other surprises could be in my future. I didn’t see much spinach in the spinach artichoke dip, so maybe it was just a typo on the menu. It just tasted«off» to me. My boyfriend liked it though, so to each his own. We also ordered the nachos and requested the sour cream on the side, as my boyfriend doesn’t like it. Well, what we got were basically deconstructed nachos. The guacamole and salsa were on the side too. I found that kind of annoying, since that isn’t what we asked for and the side portion was pretty skimpy, given what we’d have gotten otherwise. I liked the nachos, but I would have enjoyed them better had the topping been properly applied. On the plus side, we told the waiter we were in a bit of a hurry, as we had only 15 minutes before our function began. He was very quick and brought us the check early so we would not be held up by needing to pay. If you are at the Doubletree and need to grab a quick bite, I suggest going to the pizza place across the street. We stopped in later for a soda and regretted not going there first. If you are looking for a drink, well, I guess this will get you drunk as quickly as anyplace else.

I used to eat here allll the time before going to Philadelphia Orchestra concerts growing up… although I don’t think it was called Standing O back then. Still the same basic restaurant though, located in the lobby of the Doubletree Hotel. The have a small but diverse menu. Everything looked good. I ended up getting the most boring thing on the menu — a cheeseburger — because I had just done the Broad Street 10 Miler and was craving protein :-) But there was a lot of good looking things on the menu. I think it has the convenience of being a quick, affordable lunch or dinner before the ballet, opera, or orchestra because of its proximity to the Kimmel Center and the Academy of Music.

I’ve only been here for drinks before a show at the Academy. I had my usual ginger ale and some variation of bourbon or whiskey. It was decent, not really hard to mess up. I’m not certain I would ever eat here. However, a better place for pre-show drinks is the bar in the Kimmel center if its open and you like campari sodas or Valanni on spruce a little below broad.
