The food was good. I will definitely stop by for a quick eat when I’m in the neighborhood. I’m just not doing flips over it being the best

After having a bad experience on my last visit, the customer service provided by both the owners and catering manager was terrific. My co-workers and I just had a sampling of the catering menu and I must say it was exceptional! Fresh products & the variety provided was great! I will definitely use the catering option again!

I have been a regular customer for years — lunch at least 2x a week. It is sadly clear that the owners have stopped caring. I would estimate that 17 of the last 20 times there have been a serious disappointment. I keep going back hoping they have a revelation and because there are so few places to get a slice in the Yunk. But I’ve been burned enough, not unlike a dried up, neglected slice, left in the oven too long while the staff handles business that has nothing to do with the customer in front of them…

So disappointed! Having not have eaten there in a few years, I jumped at the opportunity since I was in the neighborhood. I worked in bala cynwyd for years and LOVED getting lunch there. It started with the service, as the man at the counter just stared at me when I walked in never having said hello, just stood there in complete silence until I began to order. A tad awkward? The pizza slices in the case looked much smaller than I remembered. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and a chicken Cesar wrap to go. I wasn’t given the option for a wrap flavor like I remembered and when I asked, I was told wheat is the only option. Previously, I know there were a few options to include white, wheat and/or sun dried. I went with the wheat since I didn’t have any other option. I asked for lite Cesar on the side and was told that was not an option, surprised about that as well since this used to be an option. When I asked for a Diet Coke fountain soda, I was told cans were the only option. I declined. The total for one slice and a chicken Cesar wrap without a drink…$ 16.26. $ 12.06 just for the wrap. $ 12 for just a wrap? That seems extremely expensive! Not to mention when I got home to eat the wrap, it was stale! The wheat wrap was hard at the ends and completely stale. To end the entire experience, I asked for Parmesan cheese when I didn’t see the shaker at the end of the counter. That was met with an attitude from the female employee behind the counter with a response like«we can give you a little side cup». Great, thank you! She then walked in the back for 4 – 5 minutes and I never saw her again. I was just about to leave without the parm cheese on my pizza slice when the delivery driver came in and asked me to move my car. I was so disappointed as this is not how I remember couch tomato being at all. I’m happy that you have grown and expanded to multiple locations with the bistro upstairs and west Chester location, but it appears the product and food have suffered and /or have been compromised.

The Couch Tomato offers fresh gourmet pizza which I have no doubt you will enjoy. I’ll admit, when I saw their prices for«gourmet» pizzas, I figured The Couch Tomato Café was just another overpriced slice. I’m also willing to admit I was wrong. The unique and delicious pizzas are made fresh, served by a friendly staff, and worth the extra change. A recently discovered bonus for me was their gluten-free options that allowed a friend to join me on my latest trip. Additionally, since I live within walking distance, I never considered how much of a bonus their free valet parking is until my out of town guest reminded me! With vegetarian and vegan options, you can find a slice for you and all your friends. Of course, I still recommend the Meaty Redhead!

Pricey but pretty decent food. Love the kickin chicken. I don’t recommend the all you can eat brunch though. Better off going to Winnie’s or gregs down the street.

Still am yet to find a place that does take-out/delivery salads that satisfies me more than this place! Whenever we are looking for a salad or a fresh wrap this is our go-to. Have been frequenting them for 5+ years while a resident of Manayunk. Moving to the city has been a slight disappointment as they do not delivery to center city Philadelphia. Luckily my office is on City Line Avenue so i am able to call in an order and pick it up on the way home. Salads are delicious and a very solid size. Highly recommend for a healthier option to your standard corner store pizza place.

This restaurant really takes care of their customers and works incredibly hard to make sure their customers are pleased. I have only ordered from them once so far but I look forward to many future orders to come. It’s not to often you find such great customer service and truly feel your patronage is appreciated.

Update since my first visit wasn’t the best — my girlfriend came in a week later for a Cobb salad and some crab bisque. I didn’t try the salad myself, but she said it was delicious and hit the spot. I had some of the crab bisque. and all I can say is, I wish I had some right now(and it’s only 9am). We also grabbed a slice the other night and it was up there with the top pizza slices I’ve had in Manayunk so far. I recently moved here from NYC so my pizza standards are very high! Can’t wait to stop in again and try something new.

I ordered a salad for lunch over the phone and requested romaine lettuce knowing that it usually comes with a mix. I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I got to the café after the 15 minutes, paid for my salad and then the girl at the cash register started helping other customers so I figured my salad wasn’t ready yet. After standing around for another 15 mins I asked the girl when my salad would be ready as I had called over 30 minutes ago at that point. She went to the fridge and pulled out my salad that had been ready the whole time. No apology or even acknowledgement that I had to wait around. I then went to eat my salad and it was not made with romaine lettuce. Annoying.

Salads here never disappoint! I stopped in to grab a quick salad for dinner and their seasonal salad was exceptional! Blood oranges, cranberries, red onion, pecans and feta over arugula. Served with raspberry vinaigrette on the side. Perfect size and lots of extra dressing to dip the bread in! Great value for a $ 10 meal.

Here we go again. I have never had such a conflicted relationship with a restaurant. They create salads that blow me away. The kind of combinations that wake me in the middle of the night with cravings. It began with my love for the Salmon Perricone back in the day. Things I never thought I would enjoy, all in one salad that just made it all work on so many levels. And now the Santorini, with quinoa and falafel, again, things that just work so well together. But if the folks at Couch Tomato put in half as much effort into serving their customers as they do into creating these great feasts, I wouldn’t be writing this review. You can see by my history of writing these reviews that I have given them more than a few chances. And while coupons for free salads are fine, there is a bigger issue here that can’t be bought with freebies. Tonight we called and ordered two salads. We are told twenty minutes, no problem. We get there to pick them up, wait ten minutes, we’re called to the register to pay. No problem. Another ten minutes, and someone finally says, «We’re out of falafel, what would you like instead?» Pump the brakes there cha-cha… Where was that information when I called to place the order? Perhaps you weren’t out then, so we’ll move on to when I walked in to pick it up and you asked which order was mine. You didn’t tell me then that you were out. Again, perhaps you weren’t out yet. So ten minutes later when you asked me to pay for the two salads, you didn’t tell me then either. Clearly you must have known at some point in the process that you were out. But you wait until AFTER I pay to ask what I want in place of the main ingredient in the salad? Fine, give me more chickpeas and quinoa. But then, I get home and it’s made with the wrong greens as well? You weren’t out of arugula, I saw that, so this was just pure negligence. And thinking back on every other negative experience I’ve had at CT, it’s always been negligence. It’s just sad. So much potential, but a complete inability to execute. I can’t say I won’t be back, because when the craving for one of my favorite salad hits, I won’t have any choice, but I can’t say that I’m happy about financing my own frustration and continual disappointment.(I mean, even McDonalds get’s it right some of the time.) I would love to offer a solution after this rant, but I cannot even understand how this happens time and time again, so alas I’ve got nothing.

I love love love this place! They have a variety of options on their menu. Their choices and food pairings are delicious and very creative. I can easily have a cheat meal here or order one of their flavorful and filling salads. The staff is very friendly. I feel comfortable chilling by the window and reading a book. I go there probably about once a week. This place is perfect for a low key meal.

The pizza is fine. Not great. Fine. A lot of options which is nice but the value of what you receive doesn’t match what you pay. Plus, the staff is disorganized and always busy. They don’t manage expectations right when I arrive. They are fortunate they are one of few options in Manayunk because it is not great at all. Always hope they get better but consistently let down.

I find it hard in today’s world to eat. Everything’s seems to be processed food with fake ingredients, or super unhealthy. I really feel like the Couch Tomato has a conscience when it comes to their menu. Breath of fresh air to have all these options. My sandwich was soooo good. You definitely gotta try this place!

The couch tomato café is wonderful. I especially enjoy the house crafted salads or wraps! You can either create your own or pick from the various varieties they have created! It also has a great outside seating area where you can enjoy your food in the good weather! I would definitely recommend

This was the first restaurant I ever tried when I first moved to Manayunk 4 years ago, and it still remains one of my favorites. All of their gourmet pizzas are delicious(my two favorites are the vegetable & the buffalo chicken) and my favorite salad is the«pear-fection» salad. I actually don’t think I’ve ever tried another salad in the 4 years I’ve been going here because it is just so delicious! Food quality is good and customer service is equally as good! And whenever I have time to dine in, I enjoy their small but delicious selection of draft beers. This is definitely a staple go-to place for me in Manayunk. Oh — but one thing that i REALLY miss was the happy hour special they had a year or so back. A slice and a beer for $ 5! This was by far my favorite happy hour on main street and I am still sad that it no longer exists. Its unfortunate that this was discontinued.

I keep putting off this review because I do really like the Couch Tomato. I get their tomato points and its the most frequent place we order from. The pizza is always excellent– thin and crispy and delicious. I do agree with others that it’s overpriced though. Also, their lack of consistency continues to drive me crazy. We order wraps lot and some night, they are perfect and so yummy. Other nights they are drowning in dressing or have mainly lettuce or other times fall apart in your hands. I have the sense they have a lot of employee turnover and aren’t strict about ratios and methods in the building of their food. Their soups are delicious, but sometimes I think too high in salt. For a supposedly health conscious place, I sure would like to see some nutrition info too.

Just so good. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, fresh ingredients and a unique menu. I’m a fan of the«build your sandwich or pizza» option. The multi grain foccia bread is bangin, and the salad dressings are the bomb. Really great place when you want to feel like a Couch Tomato. Thanks folks.

Yum yum yum! I just love coming here to eat. I have tried many of the pizzas on the menu and they are all delicious. I also love the salads and wraps. My favorite salad is «The Food Pyramid» it is comprised of organic spinach, chicken, grated mozzarella, strawberries, cucumber and candied pecans topped with balsamic. Simply wonderful. All of the ingredients they use are fresh, some are organic– that makes this place better than other pizza places. I can say that I have never had a bad meal at Couch Tomato. I have been a loyal customer and will continue to be!

This is one of my favorite places for pizza! Delivery is always fast and they have so many unique vegetarian options. My favorite is the Fig’N Burrata. We usually get delivery, but take-out and dine in are also available. We have also eaten at The Couch Tomato Bistro and the pizza there, and their breakfast brunch on the weekend is awesome!

I’ve always ordered from Couch Tomato before but never really dined here after they made the bistro. The staff is always very friendly, the food fresh and they always have great specials every day. The lunch buffet is totally worth the money as well. Tonight they gave samples of the tomato bisque– do delicious! Also, they have an amazing deal on groupon right now– an appetizer and two entries for less than $ 30!

This pizza is great! I online order from the Couch Tomato and it’s always ready when I get there. The people that work in the Manayunk location are always in a good mood. The pizza is thinner than other pizzas, but so good. The salads here are excellent too. Probably the best salads in the area. And I don’t usually order salads out. But if you order here you have to at least get a side salad to try and fall in love :-) Only complaint– one to go parking spot outside the café. And in a weird alley if you are driving.

This place gets it right on all counts. High quality ingredients, menu variety with a great mix of healthy and indulgent items, great customer service in-house and speedy delivery too! What more can you ask for. The salads are the best you’re going to get delivered in the Manayunk area. Yeah, they may be on the pricey side but you know you’re going to get fresh lettuce, not old browned iceberg. They tape the dressing container lids shut so they won’t spill, and you get a complimentary piece of bread, which is a nice touch. The pizzas and sandwiches are on the money, too. Really, nothing but great things to say about Couch Tomato!

Couch tomato café is where its at! I’ve been frequenting this joint since my college days, and whenever I’m in the Manayunk area for work/visiting friends, I make it a point to stop in. What makes this place so unique is their approach to food. Everything they use is fresh and local(when possible). They keep the ingredients in their purest form, and have fun with textures/flavor profiles when it comes to their pizzas, wraps, salads, etc. The service is always on point as well. I was in the area a week or so ago and stopped in for lunch between meetings. When I was in college, I used to create my own wrap with spring greens, goat cheese, candied pecans, turkey, and apple with a maple Dijon vinaigrette. I was feeling nostalgic and decided to go for it — and it tasted just as amazing as it had a couple of years ago! Consistency is so important, so I am glad to know they are keeping a good thing going. This place is a must if you are in the area, make sure you stop in — you won’t be disappointed!

This place is seriously perfect. Delicious, healthy, and amazing service. We ordered the Chipotle Pizza and I got the salmon salad. Both were out of this world. You could literally taste how fresh these plates were. Pizza was definitely enough for two people. I’m also not one to order salads at places, but this is definitely the place to do so. This review is honestly tough to write because of how simply amazing it was. There’s nothing else to really say. If you are in town or in the Philly area, eat here. Do it. You won’t regret it.

I LOVE this place! Being not that far from me, I tend to place a lot of orders for carryout. I love that the food is fresh, local, and organic. So far everything I have had from here has been delicious. The menu is super creative, and they will easily accommodate changes. The wraps are huge, and perfect for whenever I plan on having leftovers. The pizzas(both gluten free and the normal one) are flavorful and not greasy at all. I highly recommend the Where’s Waldorf salad(that comes with their warm fluffy bread); for wraps-La Fiesta, Food Pyramid; Calorie cruncher pizza(don’t let the name fool you-it is NOT short on flavor!), Hot n honey chicken; and the kickin’ chicken sandwich is also really good grilled on a thick panini like bread. Usually the wraps come with the sauce on the side, which is good so that leftovers don’t get soggy, but sometimes I wish they drizzled it right in there! Their rewards/points program is also a huge plus! There are plenty of promotions around the holidays, which I always try to take advantage of. You also get double the points if you order online, and a reward every 100 pts. Another tip-if you plan on ordering carryout, there are reserved spots right in front of the café where you can pull up and call the number on the sign for them to carry it out to you so that you don’t have to find parking!

Place is very convenient for peoples live in there and very crowed… a lot student around there with so noise from car and motorcycle… So very hard find parking… that is stink. Of course we went to place for pizza and we should Oder pizza. Ok, we had salad… that was real good, I love it then we order chicken pizza… I never try chicken on pizza, so just want how is it ? Chicken pizza was not real good. Cheese not chew and chicken too dry… I can not finish small pizza on my plate. … I will let them a change next time when I come back

I love the Create-Your-Own-Salad here! They’re food foods always fresh and delicious. The poppy seed dressing is sooo good! I wish they sold a bottle of it. The bread that comes with the salad is always surprisingly delicious. I had gotten two slices of pizza to go a few weeks back. One slice was the ancho-honey(delicious and spicy), and while the other looked promising, by the time I walked home it was hard as a rock.(Note: I only only live two blocks away.) I would still return but would probably eat my pizza there instead of taking it to go.

This is a review of their catering side: I order couch tomato after missing them when I moved into center city. The catering staff that took my order was very nice and helpful. Food came earlier than expected esp with bad weather. Sandwiches were individually wrapped and labeled which I personally love. I would have given them 4 stars but I was a little taken aback by the containers. Usually the catering tray is OK enough that I can leave it out. This time I had to replate, the hot sandwiches arrived in a pizza box, salad was on the lid portion of a circular sandwich container instead of a bowl, bread came in a to go box. Once replated everything looked great and tasted yummy.

After having dined at the bistro last week my friend and I had a hankering for the tomato bisque soup! Plus she raved about the pizza so of course I had to try that too! We opted to get delivery and ordered on the website(always a sweet option). The delivery was about 1 hour. We ordered: Large tomato bisque soup: it was ~12 ounces(we actually used a measuring cup) so needless to say we were disappointed because this was the focal point of our meal. It was still delicious but a lot less than we anticipated. Margherita pizza on wheat crust: was cold by time it got to us so the cheese was coagulated by then. It was otherwise good. La Fiesta salad: which boasts organic greens, spicy all-natural chicken*, mango salsa, grape tomato, tortilla chips, pepper jack, chipotle dressing was a bit skimpy and was supposed to come with a roll but it was not with the order Overall I was a bit disappointed. I like the food in general bit this order seemed to fall a bit short.

Had been wanting to stop in here for a while and finally had a chance one Sunday afternoon. I don’t live in Manayunk, so I drove in – while I was worried about finding a spot, luck was on our side and we found one(with no meter, yet!) about a half a block from the restaurant. When we arrived we were immediately greeted. The woman who greeted us explained that downstairs was the more casual café and upstairs was more formal seating with table service. The staff members were alll very pleasant and friendly, which was nice. The café was cute, but small. It had a few tables as well as a bar at window seating. We sat at the window seating and my husband and I each ordered two slice of pizza. They were delivered to us after about 5-minute wait and came out hot and crispy. I thought the crust was a good thickness and had a nice bite to it. My favorite of the two slices I ordered was the Italian Stallion — tomatoes, provolone, sausage, fennel, and basil. I would definitely stop back in for that slice. I also like that Couch Tomato serves New Hope Soda. My husband and I both had ginger ale and it had a great flavor without being excessively sweet. It was a great choice for lunch and I think we’ll be back again soon.

Where should I begin? Let’s start with the management. For the past two years I have had a variety of conversations with Craig, about my thoughts and opinions of both his restaurants. With that being said, Craig is one of the most courteous, and generous restaurant owners I have ever interacted with in my life. Second, the staff is very cohesive. When someone is busy running food to tables outside, another person steps up to take orders. Another guy, with cog tattoo on leg, sorry I don’t know your name, is checking soup temperatures, for food safety concerns. That is outstanding, and can’t believe how intricate, and well automated the staff is here. So I walked in at 11 am opening time for the café, and it was already busy with one table. Within 10 minutes a hoard of bikers, the manayunk kind, walk in for a quick snack. At The same time, a family walks in. This place is busy from the start, and should indicate how good it is. Let’s start with the order process, I was greeted by Jessica, and kind of knew the type of sandwich I wanted. When I described it she knew exactly what I was talking about. Way to know the menu! She also asked me how my day was going, and if you check my reviews of other places, that’s what gets me. Café is the type of establishment that goes out of their way, to ensure their customers feel welcomed, and appreciated. Next the food. I ordered a smokehouse panini. It came out in a timely manner, was presented well, contained a lot of pork, and was tasty. Over the past two years both the tomato café and bistro has provided me with a stellar service, outstandingly tasty food, warm hearted management, and ambiance that makes you want to come back. Please whenever you are in manayunk, take the time to check it out.
