My favorite coffee shop in the city. I love coming here on a weekend morning. The brightness, the high ceilings, the relaxed staff and patrons, the most delicious coffee I have had in Philadelphia(I don’t like smoky La Colombe) and that darn swirly jam muffin. Great seating options both inside and out. If you haven’t checked out the patio on a nice day you are seriously missing out.

I used to come here when it was High Point, and decided to try it again now. WOW! First off, the attention to detail is something I really appreciate(multi-outlet device upstairs, comfy seating, cute water sink, adorable signage, etc.). The basic coffee is out of this world, I think it’s Ethiopian or something. I was there all morning on a Saturday, so moved from an awesome blueberry scone and coffee to an iced tea(raspberry — delish) and the best panini ever(pear, brie…) Really like the work she is doing also to mentor the young adults coming out of foster care. Will definitely be back; worth the drive from anywhere.

Great coffeehouse! Their food and drinks are great, and make it that much easier to support such a great mission! The atmosphere is comfortable to get work done in or just hang out alone or with a friend! The staff is friendly and make it easy to go in again and again!

I have been terribly frustrated every time I go to Monkey & Elephant. The beverages are bleh and over-priced. The coffee is burnt and the speciality drinks are weird concoctions best left to Pinterest(house-made Italian sodas in particular). While the regular baristas are professional, the owner and managers(Lisa, I think) have been repeatedly rude, even go as far as to roll their eyes when I made an inquiry about my order.

Great coffee shop with a great mission! My wife and I come here several days a week(ok, most days a week) and I also have business meetings nearly weekly in the upstairs seating area. The atmosphere is super friendly and the employees are always friendly and inviting. Stop by, you won’t regret it!

Awesome little coffee shop. Very relaxed environment. I had the hot chocolate because it was about one degree outside. Normally I would not venture out in such weather, but 2 dear friends I hadn’t seen in a long time convinced me otherwise. It’s a shame I lost track of time and forgot to feed my meter and ended up with a $ 26 ticket. I hate PPA but I loved this place. I will be back. I want to try the fig panini, which I hear is excellent. Also, they help foster kids, so your money goes to a good cause. I would also like to come and see their events – it looks like they do a poetry night for young kids.

One of my favorite coffee shops — the monkey and the elephant is such a warm, welcoming space. The coffee is fantastic and it’s great to have unique baked goods. Plus, the mission is really exciting. Any time we’re in the area, it’s a must-visit.

Amazing coffee shop with a unique sleek design. Great customer service the hot chocolate here is amazing, the water dispenser is cleverly designed and visually appealing. The best coffee place in North Philadelphia.

A quiet, unsuspecting location with great lattes and paninis. The courtyard in the back is a perfect spot to relax and work over coffee. The shop provides job opportunities for foster youth aging out of the system.

This place is extremely inviting and comforting. Today was my first time walking in and I ended up trying the Blueberry Pomegranate Green Tea, as soon as I added the simple syrup and a drop of Honey– it was brought to life! Try it!

I came with a friend and ordered a blueberry pomegranate green tea. I have to say«this tea is very refreshing and tasty!» Teavani and Tazo has competition. Lol. I also got a cheese cake brownie. This was light, sweet but not too sweet. Freshly baked. Everything is baked on premises. Pretty cool! I have been to this place when it was owned by different business. The new look is bright, airy, and pleasant. Gives you a country feel with a modern twist. The staff is built and taught skills to enhance their life skills. They pride themselves in hiring foster, former foster kids etc. I enjoyed my brief and short conversation with Naje and the staff. It’s very inspiring and uplifting. Thanks for the awesome tea and brownie. Will be sending referrals.

Peanut zinger: spicy peanut cookie covered in chocolate. Sunday soy iced mocha in a tranquil back seating area: Brewerytown bliss. The wife is getting a decaf soy iced mocha. Cider from RyBrew across the street after!

Clean, open space, good coffee and snack options. Fair number of plugs and seating, good for working. I had a chocolate scone and a coffee. I would say it’s a 4-star coffee shop, but I’m boosting it because it’s also a rad nonprofit. Solid execution with good purpose.

Love the purpose behind this place. They are no frills and fancy décor, just about serving some Coffee and some simple menu items. The other two coffee places here might not have done so well because. In my opinion, they went a little over-the-top with the food and the kitschy décor. The prices are a little high though. I will be back since it’s right in the neighborhood but I’ll probably just stick to ordering coffee. I ordered a small $ 4 chai latte which was very mild on the chai side. It was basically just a big cup of steamed milk. Fluke? Perhaps! And I’m not going to penalize them for it, they just opened!

One of my favorite chai teas in town! Ask Lisa about the symbolism of the monkey and the elephant.

New shop in Brewerytown that makes a great cup of coffee. The staff was friendly and efficient. I had the pour-over which was made perfectly. Great ambiance with lots of comfortable seating a free WiFi. They were brewing One Village Coffee although The owner who was present explained that they’ll be featuring various local roasters. Hopefully they get enough business to expand hours past 5pm

A welcomed addition to West Girard. Generous people, informative barista, and most importantly, a bright and well-let place(making the winter feel a little more spring-y). I only had assam tea, but I enjoyed it! I’ll come back for a more thorough review.
