Of the many Asian massage places in the Philadelphia area this particular location seems to stand out among the pack. I get the impression that they not only appear to be clean but that they are sanitary on the microscopic level as well(I will just assume). They offer standard(but AWSOME) foot massages as well as full body. The full body is in the back in separate rooms and in the front there are 3 super cushy chairs that recline. My wife and I generally begin with 30 – 60 minutes and wind up staying for 90 because we don’t want to get up. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced foot or body rub I wholeheartedly recommend the Tibet Steaming Place. Again, it is way above average. Pro Tip: As a frequent flyer when it comes to Asian massage places I highly recommend asking for a 20 or 30 minute massage even if you fully plan on doing an hour plus. By doing this you can see if they’re up to your standards I do this all the time when I’m discovering new places. Just don’t let it backfire on you because they get busy. **With regards to Tibet Steaming Place this is not necessary because they are top notch but it’s still a good thing to have in your ‘consumer tool belt’.

As someone who has been training for a marathon, this was amazing. Although not private(people coming in and out of the front door), it was still quiet and relaxing and wow do my feet feel awesome. Be specific with time — I asked for 30 mins total for foot reflexology. $ 1/minute but only $ 50 for an hour. Best deal ever. I am a believer and will be doing this after the race too.

Will not recommend this place to anyone. They did not know how to massage and made me feel worst than usual. I will never be back and would never recommend this place to anyone. I am sure they are not licensed.

Sweet Baby Jeebus. If your dogs are barking and you’re staying at the Marriott or Loews(or close to chinatown) drop in for a $ 1/min foot massage! No frills no whistles, just a couple of Chinese ladies who barely speak Engilsh but have amazing hands! No appt needed!

Two weekends ago I had a tension headache, emanating from my neck, all weekend. This past weekend I was headed for the same. It was Saturday. A friend and I had just finished a late lunch at Phở Cali after having walked a lot in the heat, and the pain in my head was only intensifying. Walking West on Arch Street, we passed The Tibet Steaming Palace, and their sidewalk sign, advertising $ 1/minute massages, starting at 10 minutes, caught my eye. I had been considering taking an OTC pain reliever, but when I saw this sign, I decided to give it a go to see if it would relieve the pain first. I really didn’t want to have to take anything. Entering, I asked for a 10-minute neck massage. I was taken to the back room and being that I was the only person there, instructed to lay down on the first bed. She started massaging my back and while it felt good, I again made clear that I wanted her to focus on my neck, and explained why. Once she worked her way to my neck, the pain almost immediately started subsiding. And fortunately, once the five minutes that were left for it were up, it was almost gone. I only wanted to pay for 10 minutes, and I was careful to have her stop once they were up. My main recommendation is to be clear about what you want, and not to expect anything extra. After all, it is what it is: a $ 1/minute massage parlor. I’m a fan!

A dollar per minute massage joint. She had strong hands and did a really good job. I have to drop a star because after asking her to do my head and neck, I asked if she could spend the last minute massaging my face. The face massage seemed to last a long time and she ended up charging me $ 10 for the extra ten minutes. I was ok with paying for what I got, but she wasn’t clear during the massage that she was adding time, and it was more money than I had intended to spend. I subtracted the second star because another worker was taking a nap on a table near us and I could hear his loud distracting snores throughout my massage.

The Tibet Steaming Place is a massage and steaming house located on Arch St. in Philadelphia. They fill a fairly well-defined niche of $ 1 a minute massage houses, offering foot massage and steaming as well as back and neck massages. Just to be clear, this(as far as I’m aware) is a legitimate establishment, nothing shady. Overall, it’s clean and well-kept, but think budget-massage, not a five-star place. I’ve only ever taken advantage of the foot massage, so the back/neck and foot steaming I can’t comment on. The foot massage starts with a foot cleaning with a hot towel. You sit in very comfortable recliners, and they massage your feet for as few as ten minutes. I usually do 30 minutes, so it’s 15 per foot, and that’s great. The massage is based in acupressure philosophy, so the motions they go through are supposed to have therapeutic effects, hit various pressure points, etc. You can ask them to massage harder or softer, based on your preference, of course. They do take credit cards, but charge 8% tax. A nice, relatively inexpensive treat, and they’re usually open past 10 or 11pm in some cases.

A TOURIST’S BESTFRIEND After walking and walking and walking everywhere from Society Hill to Independence Hall to Chinatown to the art museum and back, my feet were killing me. The Tibet steaming place was just what I needed. This place offers fairly priced, no frills, no nonsense, legitimate massage for your tired feet or back. It’s pretty typical for a Asian massage place so don’t expect Enya, candles, and whale songs.

if you’re into the dollar-a-minute massage thing this place is probably for you. i’m not sure that it’s for me, but my guy was firm, but gentle. $ 10(10-minute) minimum.
