I can’t speak to their table service, but their takeout is excellent.

I finally had hibachi here for a friend’s birthday. We had one diner with a shrimp allergy so her meal and the whole table’s shrimp app thing(?) was cooked last. Salad and soup came with the meal, nothing really special or tragic. The fried rice was terrific and the scallops I had were perfectly cooked and seasoned. However, unlike some places, the hibachi meal does NOT come with hibachi noodles. Everyone seemed pleased with their various iterations, and the ‘chef’ was quite friendly and skillful. Maybe next time I will ask for noodles, otherwise this was a really nice local option.

Great Japanese food. I visited Makoto for a late afternoon lunch, and ironically, it was a little hard to locate the place because it’s hidden behind KFC. The exterior appearance of the restaurant looked a little old with sporadic patches of paint striping off, but I «can’t judge a book by its cover» since the inside gave me a different story. The interior was very spacious with several hibachi grills on one side of the restaurant, while the other side consist of numerous booth tables. As soon as I reached the host podium, I was seated promptly. The decorative menu had a variety of authentic Japanese food with a few updated sushi rolls. My waitress was very nice and knew when I was ready to order my food. For starters, I ordered the«Dinosaur Egg,» and it tasted delightful. I am a huge oyster lover, so this appetizer is a major plus. The sweet sauce that went with the oysters added a little more favor to the dish. Shortly after, my 8-piece«Ichiban Roll» came out. The tasty sushi rolls composed of tuna, fried banana, avocado, and cucumber. The fried banana combined with the soy sauce created a mixture of sweet and salty texture, and it tasted good(Not the best). Lastly, the«Beef Sukiyaki» arrived in a hot ceramic pot. The noodle soup had vegetables, tofu, eggs, carrots, and slices of beef in a rich dark broth. Most of the flavor in this dish came from the sliced beef and different seasonings of the broth itself. I would recommend this dish to anyone that loves eating noodles because the broth is very flavorful. The prices of these dishes are reasonable. Overall, my experience was wonderful and I would come back again to try more of their Japanese food.

As always the food is amazing. I usually get Togo but i decided to sit at the sushi bar tonight and I’m glad I did. Excellent service. High quality food. Literally the best sushi in the area. Hands down!!! The sauce for the spring is so unique compared to other places. Goodness I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy this place

I’ve been to my fair share of hibachi and sushi places but this has a pretty lame hibachi. Mediocre food. There’s no showmanship or wow factor to their«show»

Good udon! Sushi is pretty good. Good menu selection. Never tried hibachi but there are always people there when we go and usually never leave without hearing the happy birthday song at least once. The layout and ambiance is nothing special and the service isn’t the greatest but i like that they have buy one get one free on beers. And serving alcohol at all is a plus.(Unless you like byob) We will keep going because the food is consistent and they have good hours.

Been coming here for years and love it. The servers are always pleasant and sweet to us and our 3 boys. Hibachi is great and cooked perfect every time. We also have purchased and used the groupon with no issue for hibachi like it was meant to be used for. Overall a fantastic Hibachi place and the Sushi is excellent too! Ignore the reviews that are bad cause all they are doing is complaining about the groupon.

I’ve been here 2 x’s. 1st time Sept. 2014 food was good not outstanding but decent. service was typical of asian restaurants not great just good. 2nd time Service was HORRIBLE! It was thanksgiving weekend 2014 Staff had huge attitude and we had 8 people in our party. My sushi was good, but we sat there for over an Hr before the Hibachi dude showed up after my sushi dinner and another persons were served. I literally had to get our drinks and silverware. Then we waited for 45 minutes after asking for the bill 2 X’s. The people I was with love this place, but I would never go back after how we were treated. PISSPOORSTAFF, WITHPISSPOORATTITUDE and mediocre food.

I’ve tried this place for sushi a few times and I just really don’t like it.)o; Sushi is subpar and not all that cheap and service is always lacking… Never tried hibachi.

I’ve only had the sushi here(once at the restaurant and take out a few ties). It’s decent sushi for the Lehigh Valley, which I don’t believe has very average quality sushi(from the 4 – 5 restaurants I have been to). I’d order from here again. Service was fine and the place was clean. Not sure what else to add, honestly. Pretty average sushi, decent pricing.

I was invited to a good friend’s birthday party tonight and I loved it! The chef was very skilled and the food was delicious. They had a great hibachi selection and the chef’s performance was very impressive. I plan on visiting again.

I too don’t understand all the negative reviews. Had a very nice meal here tonight. I haven’t tried the hibachi yet but the sushi was good, service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing. I sat at the sushi bar and watched the chef make my dinner and everyone else’s with skill and speed. I see a pattern with the haters: they’ve either got a Groupon or expect something for free. We have so few restaurants serving good food that survive around here. Ignore the negative reviews like we did and give Makoto a try.

I don’t get the bad reviews, whenever my cousin comes up from Florida we eat lunch here, the lunch box special is only like 10 bucks and is awesome, the waitresses always refill your soda without hesitation. Our kids also loved the hibachi grill show, we will always come back.

What an absolute customer service NIGHTMARE! My party of 8 sat for hibachi. We placed an order of 5 hibachi meals, 2 sushi orders and 4 orders of lomein. AFTER serving our soup and salads, the waitress informed us we were going to be charged $ 5 each for«plate sharing» of 3 hibachi meals. I refused to pay, 1) you never told us 2) a plate share fee is NOTLISTED anywhere on the menu and 3) we ordered more than 8 meals anyway. It is illegal to charge a fee if it is not listed on your menu. Mind you, we have been coming here for 8 years and were NEVER charged a plate sharing fee when my daughter and I shared a meal. The owner said kids eat free with the purchase of 2 adult meals so we replaced our ENTIRE order and I told the waitress we also had a Groupon. When it came time to pay, a scene unsued and the owner said we could not combine offeres. I told him he was the one who offered the«solution» of kids’ eating free and also told him I told the waitress about the Groupon. His excuse…“she is new”. My response…“not my problem.” The owner and another worker started yelling and screaming telling me I had to pay full price. I told them no and they could call the authorities. They yelled and screamed some more and finally took my payment on my credit card. Guess they were shocked that I did not leave a gratuity — hmmm maybe because the waitress had to be asked several times for the check and we had to get our own take out containers and pack them ourselves. Told me they are authorized to add a tip and I said — good luck with that, I do not authorize it.

The worst place I’ve been to in a long while. Unfriendly staff and food I wouldn’t eat for free. Spent 18.95 on seafood dish and just awful. Sushi roll was just Ok but not worth the 10.00. Never going back.

Don’t buy the groupon!!! We were just there and had a terrible experience. Their ad on groupon shows a lovely photo of a huge plate of sushi rolls & sashimi. The groupon fine print states that you can only use the groupon for dinner only(meaning not lunch in my opinion). When we arrived there was a sign on the door stating that groupon guests were not going to be offered free refills and the groupon can only be used on dinners — meaning not apps, sushi rolls, sashimi, noodles, etc. There were only 2 servers in the entire place and they were not welcoming. Once they knew we had a groupon it was game over! Never checked on us, didn’t refill the water and then when we gave our credit card for our bill($ 6.70) they told us they don’t accept credit cards for under $ 10. I didn’t have any cash so he was out of luck if he didn’t accept it. As for the food… we got the beef negamiki(sp?) and seafood teriyaki. Blah. Definitely was not good — not worth the money. We have reason to believe they also added MSG or maybe they slipped something in our dinner b/c we were cheap Americans using a groupon! haha. Definitely won’t go back. Yi En in Whitehouse blows them away!!!

Worst experience EVER. I have been here in the past multiple times but this place has completely given up. Went there for my moms birthday dinner„ and right away the server was rude and could not speak English very well, she asked what would like for my child to eat, and when asking for the menu to see the prices she said«wait, let me finish» I asked for the manager and she said«there is no manger» After that, I wave her down, she saw me, and turned the other way, a second server tried to help, but he started doing the same thing as well. Ignored us and avoided coming over when I waved at them. They were doing their best NOT to provide service. The hibachi show was the worst I’ve ever seen. Not exciting at all. There was not the egg throwing in the hat and all the fun things from a hibachi show. At the end of the meal, they asked for a larger tip, I replied«that’s all I’m tipping». They had the nerve to argue with me about how it’s necessary to tip appropriately. Avoid this place at all costs!

This is the first hibachi spot that I have been to that does NOT include noodles in their hibachi dinner. I’m not sure why this has stricken me as so offensive — but I could not stop thinking about it after I left dinner. I LOVE hibachi noodles — they are my FAVORITE part of the dinner… I guess I felt a little(a lot?) gypped… The food was okay, but the waiter did spill a glass of wine all over my man’s sister and her plate. She took it like a champ — and they handled it well. It was not the best hibachi presentation ever, but it was okay. I don’t think I would come back here on my own, except for another family dinner.
