I have to kindly disagree with Amanda. This place looks rundown and IS rundown. It even got held up a few years ago and has security guards but I don’t know why they bother. I think the only thing it has going for itself is its location and a decent selection of alcohol but otherwise there are better options nearby(if not across the street) at Safeway. It truly needs to be torn down and have either a Whole Foods or some nice condos or townhouses put in its place.

I have finally found a good grocery store close to downtown PHX! After several overpriced visits to the SafeWay on McDowell and 7th St, an uncomfortable visit to the Fry’s on Baseline, I decided to give this one a try after reading the positive reviews on Google. Its way better than Safeway! The exterior of the store makes it seem like it might be a bit run down but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in! The parking lot had about 10 cars in it at 6pm on a Tuesday so it wasn’t at all busy. Its clean, has a good selection of items and even found the majority of my purchases on sale for about what I pay at Wal-Mart. I encountered two friendly employees at this store and the other patrons here seemed like normal people(unlike the SafeWay where there are always seem to be questionable people in the store or in parking lot). The only thing I couldn’t find here on my list of about 30 things was fresh basil but it was no big deal. I plan to get those kinds of items at the weekly farmers market. I’ll be back every week!
