Los Pinos is on the southside of McDowell and 29th St. It is a carniceria and market. They sell many different meats, toritllas, salsas, beer, spices, chicharones, and other items you would find at most carnicerias out there. The shop is clean and very busy with about 6 guys working the meat counter and another one working the cash register. They take all credit cards as well. I bought some carne asada marinated, some pork adobado, tortillas, gorditas, salsa, and guac. The carne asada was excellent. Nice pieces and well marinated. The adobado was also really good with a nice rub on it. The salsa was a miss. It was oily and hot but not in a way that made you want to come back for more. The guac was also a miss. It was a whipped quac but lacked the flavor I was looking for. The tortillas and gorditas were all fresh and tasty. For meat and tortillas this place is a good stop. I would skip the salsa and guac and make your own or get them elsewhere.

This is my spot for carne asada when I want to make my boyfriends week and prepare taco stand on the bbq. I called up a friend one Saturday when the craving hit, and asked him where the best spot to buy carne asada in Arcadia was. The entire kitchen staff at the Vig told him Los Pinos, so I thought it must be so. Then I went, and I knew it was so. I haven’t shopped anywhere else, but I have tried other friends and by comparison I don’t think the meat is as good quality. I buy my whole fiesta here, from the cheese(for taco stand Rocky Point style it’s all about the Queso Chihuahua), guac when I’m lazy, hot sauce and salsa from the refrigerated case, and they also have a warm trunk of freshly made tortillas, and limes and cilantro in the small produce section. They are so nice here, even though I took French in college and high school when I should have taken Spanish. I have become such a regular here that they recognize me, and last time asked me why I never bring my kids with me. Lol. Do you allow dogs on a leash?
