So, John’s Olde Barber Shop. I’ve been going here for years. I’ve held off reviewing it for Unilocal, because I wasn’t sure it would meet Unilocaler’s high standards. I used to go to hair salons, back when I had money, and I was used to the massage and water with lemon peel and whatnot. This was definitely a change of pace. The store is located in a predominately Latin strip mall, and the area itself feels kind of seedy, so you can feel like a fish out of water in more ways than one. The barber shop has old magazines and no fancy decorations. What they do have is good haircuts for a very reasonable price. I’ve always been satisfied with the haircut I’ve gotten here, and in fact, it’s better than what Sport Clips could offer me, along with other local barbers I tried. The price? 12 bucks, plus tip. That’s pretty damn reasonable. The barbers are generally quiet and keep to themselves; they won’t wow you with their gregariousness, but they get the job done and that’s all I ask. It’s no longer called John’s Olde Barber Shop — the name is now entirely in Spanish. I don’t even remember what the new name is called. It’s located at the very left of the strip mall, if one were facing it. I foresee myself going back here indefinitely. Oh, and by the way, you can use credit cards, but there’s a fee of a few dollars for using them. Best to come with cash.
