My wife likes to shop here, but I prefer Safeway across the street. Over Labor Day weekend, my son and I decided to have a crawfish boil in the backyard. Since we were only able to catch a couple of dozen small crawfish, we decided to go to Klein’s to buy two pounds of shrimp to add to the mix. I looked at what they had, a huge pile of grey shelled shrimp and a smaller amount of pink shrimp. I told him I wanted two pounds of the grey, but the fellow said that the pink were sweeter. I asked if they were cooked, and he said no, they were warm water shrimp. Hmmmm. I should have stuck with my instincts. Anyway, I put them in the fridge when I got home, got the pot boiling with tasty spices, and went to add the shrimp. The smell made me gag. I couldn’t believe it. The bag was filled with slimy, rotten shrimp. Nasty. I put them in the freezer and we had a disappointing boil. :-( When I returned them, there was no problem. The customer service woman apologized and gave me my money back. I feel bad for all the people that were sold that rotting shrimp just so the seafood man could clear the stock. I guess they were counting on some folks not returning it. Gross.
