4.5÷5 This place is really fun and has great food. I have had it bookmarked forever and finally have been up in their area for a training class so I gave it a try for the first time on Friday. I took a couple of coworkers with me and we all enjoyed our food. We called in the order when we left the office and they had it ready when we got there. I had the mushroom and Swiss burger with pesto on a potato roll. I love that blending of flavors and my burger was really good, but decided at the time that the next time I would get a double. The burger isn’t really too small for the bun, but they are good, hearty buns and a double would really fill it out well. The homemade chips are just like I like them, light, crispy, and brown. A couple of them were soggy, but overall they were very nice. I got to try an onion ring and knew I wanted to order them the next time around as well. So…the very next day I brought my husband up to try it out. We ordered a double and he chose the toppings. It was something like mushroom, Swiss, bacon, and lettuce, with the onion rings. I decided to try their brat with chips. Everything was delicious. The fresh buns really are a nice touch and we like the fact that you can bring up to 2 beers with you and drink them with the meal, as long as you are sitting inside. I can easily handle and appreciate that. The two gals working there are super friendly and helpful and add to the positive experience. The only reason they aren’t a perfect five stars for me is that the burgers do have a pressed look to them that leads me to believe they might have been frozen. If they did freshly-ground, never-frozen beef for those burgers, they would really be over the top. Aside from that though, as a whole, they put out some great food in a fun environment with funky album covers, posters, and memorabilia all over the place. I love Billy Joel with those bedroom eyes staring at me while I’m in the can. All the reminders of when the best music was created. I look forward to my next visit.

I’ve been here on numerous occasions and will keep coming back. Not only is the staff the best but the food is just plain AWESOME!!! Don’t tell anyone but there are some things that aren’t on the menu that you have to ask for, such as Pesto fries… WOW!!!

I really enjoy: –the food! –the menu! –the way you can design your burger –the french fries!!! –the simple and fun atmosphere! I just wish they had more hours to serve food! We often want to go there Friday or Saturday nights for dinner, but they are always closed when we get there! I think they close at 7pm on Friday… Why?

Thank you for the amazing meal. Great, fresh burger. The fries were yummy too! Cash only, but that’s not a problem. It’s well worth the effort of going to the atm. The sunshine sauce is very good! All around a great experience! We’ll be back for sure.

Hands down, the best burger I have ever eaten! Lots of choices and I ordered mine with guacamole, sautéed mushrooms and sunshine sauce and a side of potato salad. The owner was friendly and helpful. I unknowingly arrived right before they closed but they didn’t rush me. This is my new favorite burger place.

Ah-mazing! It’s a Build-Your-Own-Burger, little hippie joint. The interior is a flash back to 1980 with some happily unique décor. I built my burger with a beef patty, potato bun, no cheese(lactard) jalapeños, tomatoes, pickles, and grilled onions, and added bacon. HOLYMOLY it was soooo good. And I’m a burger critic. The only thing was a little unimpressed with was that their plethora of flavored lemonade are flavored with syrups, instead of fruit or more«natural» flavors. Love it! I’ll be back next time I’m in Phoenix!

Mouth-watering custom burgers with your choice of everything. All the ingredients are high-quality and fresh. I always get a sourdough medium-rare burger with garlic and basil, and a Utah favorite… fry sauce. If you like burgers in general, you won’t be disappointed at Two Hippies.

Thanks for a great experience after being treated like a subhuman at Antique Gathering on 36th and Indian School.

I like the build your own burger concept but it just wasn’t executed very well. My chicken was dry, the bread was burned and I also got the lemonade and they couldn’t do refills(I hate that)!

In from out of town and decided I wanted a burger and fries for lunch. I ate here the last time I was in Phoenix and remembered it well. I love the fact you pick what you want. Quick service and cooked perfect! Staff was awsome! If you want a great burger fast and friendly Two Hippies is the joint for it!

We came from Cali and wanted to try something random. The name of the burger joint was very random thought i’d give it a try. Small little place, lady was really cool and everything was freshly made. It was yummy, ill be back for sure next time I come down to AZ.

Today was my first time eating here, and I was actually quite satisfied with my entire experience. What really got to me was that I work right up the block from here and have missed this place so many times. Service: Freakin Awesome! The gal at the counter was personable, friendly, and inviting. Oh and she was in-fact exercising her 2nd, which I don’t blame her… the area can be kind of funny/strange/good and bad all at the same time. I had a good deja-vu moment talking to her. :) Thanks! Food: Holy cow, it tasted like a hamburger! Sometimes I just want a burger that doesn’t taste like the people making it are trying to be unique about a product that we all have had. The onion rings were yummy as well. Environment: The place is called Two Hippies, and this made me feel right at home, although I am not your typical hippie, scenester or whatever. model VW Bugs, Beetles, a great pic of Jerry on the ceiling, Zappa, you name it… music was good too! I have found a new place to visit when I get to go out and eat for lunch! I suggest you go and try it.

cruising by yesterday and saw the sign and rolled on in — I only support independently owned restaurants, and this is the reason why. Outstanding burger — big and juicy and excellent onion roll and any four toppings(pickles, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions) plus sauces. And some of the best onion rings I ever had — total $ 8. Damn that is a good deal. I wanted twice that many onion rings, they were so good; though I couldn’t have eaten that many, I still wanted them. Real friendly and helpful service too. I’ll be back.

Sans Burger, these hippies have my buy-in, and if we were still in the 60’s, it would be a love-in, for sure! I’m saving the name-sake meal for when I have a bigger appetite, so for now, I settled for the brat with a side of their onion rings and a Coke, yes, they have Coke! Are you serious? Each entrée(I wonder if hippies know what that means?) comes with four addins and whatever spreads you like. I added jalapeños, grilled onions, relish and damned if I remember what else, but it was sure tasty. Of course, I got mustard and ketchup, and to satisfy, well it definetly hit the spot, and will have me coming back for more! Besides the owners, who opened about 3 years ago and are always there, you’ll usually run into other hippies. It seems that good burgers and pschodelic(I know hippies know THAT word!) colors bring ‘em out of the word work!

This place is awesome. Tasty burgers and fresh cut steak fries. Tons of options from the classic burger toppings, to sautéed garlic and pesto! You can also get fried eggs or even pastrami! The feel is super chill and great music. Sherl, the owner is super cool, and always helpful for first-timers. Thirsty? How about one of the 16 flavors of lemonade?! I’ve been searching for the best burger in Phoenix, and this is up there with the chuckbox near ASU, Ted’s in Cave Creek and Lucky Boy as far as a «great burger» goes!

It really pains me to give this place a two star rating. The owner and the staff are really nice people but my emotions from this place has ranged from not bad to this sucks over the last few visits. The last time I was there my burger and fries were gnarly bad. The fries were not cooked and tasted like oil and the burger had me thinking what was I thinking by coming here for lunch. Well at least I got a free soda by checking in on Unilocal. As painful as it may sound, even hippies must retire one day.

This spot was recommended to us by a client — he thought we would enjoy the vibe and said that the food was pretty good. Seems like this place is popular for lunch(when we went.) If it’s busy, you may have a hard time finding somewhere to sit and waiting for your food, so be aware of that. Lots of people grabbing food for take out and if it’s busy, I’d say that is a wise choice. We did really love the house made items like the lemonade(in all sorts of seasonal flavors) and the excellent chips that come with the burger.(You can have fries instead but the chips are much better IMHO). The burger was good and you can customize the toppings. It’s not the best burger ever, I prefer fast casual chains like Smashburger or Five Guys, but you are supporting a local business if that means anything to you.
