So delicious came here with my dad to celebrate my bday for lunch, great service the food is very tasty and big portions got full didn’t finished took home for leftover. I was so full didn’t even eat dinner. Dave was a good server friendly. The baked potato is omg huge never seen in my life. They put the butter in your baked potato for you, give cheese bread and the side salad is huge. Coming back for sure

Food is excellent, service is phenomenal, fireplace is inviting, & green apple martini —- Yum! Music is a little loud but being with the best Husband in the world & great conversation after 30 years of blissful marriage other patrons, lucky them can’t hear us. Love this place!

The food was good, but if I didn’t make reservations, they stated it was 90 minutes wait on a Saturday night. No Stein’s, just 22 oz beers. The tomahawk was over priced for what it was, but everything else was great. Plenty of food comes with the meal, so appetizers were out this evening. Drinks on the pricy side. Overall, I’m happy, but based on the number of times I heard the Happy Birthday song, this place is a «special occasion» type spot versus your regular type steak house.

Today i had a weird experience at steak and stein… Sat next to a table with 5ppl who had the worst etiquette. I was beyond embarrassed for them or should i say him(one of the men at the table). He was so rude to our server Dorothy and she was by far the best server we have had here over the period of time we have been coming here. His obnoxious humor and rude mouth disgusted me. The way he disrespected her and had the nerve to tell her to not fuck up his order and to do her fucking job as she was being kind and doing her job quite well actually. There was plenty more but ill leave it at that. Anyhow he even had the mngr come over and got a new server. So a big middle finger to the douche bag who most likely couldn’t afford his dinner and tequila shots so was looking for a freebee. And thanks to the server who was kind and did her job so well. Im sorry you had to deal with that tool. I will be back per usual weekend meal with my family and hopefully she is our server again :)

Heard this place was great so I came in with my gf yest. Ambience in nice. Really cool place. Our waiter took a long time before he took our order. He wasn’t much help on the menu for us. I had a filet mignon and it was ok. She had a lobster and steak, lobster was good steak was ok. Our waiter prepared our potatoes and oh my the onions were way too over powering. Didn’t even eat our potatoes he just piled it up with toppings. Maybe we should add the toppings? Overall nice place but a bit over priced.

Had only heard good things about this place so tried it out. The good: Great ambiance Incredible service. Short wait time with a Unilocal reservation. Highly recommend making a reservation unless you don’t mind waiting an average of 1hr 30min. Great waiting area. Friendly staff. Talented musician. Overall price reasonable. Dinner for 2 with a glass of wine, beer, and cocktail around $ 140 with tip. The bad: One of the stakes lacked flavor And our meals got cold rather quickly. Extremely bad: While pouring some ketchup for the fries a small(what we’re hoping) chunk of meat fell out.

Pros: great food, exceptional service, great atmosphere(décor) Cons: the artwork had changed over the years and diminished in quality, employee uniforms are not as classy as they once were and taken on a more generic boredom, and playing rock n roll as ambiance music doesn’t fit the atmosphere. These things keep the restaurant from being 5 stars.

Awesome service. Went to pick up a gift card and decided to stay for lunch. The lunch menu is awesome and more affordable than the dinner menu, especially if you’ve been wanting to try this place but it’s been out of your budget. The selection is great and the service was good. We had a server named Dorothy and she picked up on my corny Wizard of Oz joke immediately. She gave us a few suggestions and then brought out salad, a trio of dressings along with their flavorful red cabbage and cheese toast. Solid meal with huge portions. Where do they find potatoes soooooo big?!? I’ll be back soon!

Rick is the best server! The food is great and Rick is deserving of the best service within the continental US of A. No issues with the service or establishment, however, if you see these people pictured with the wine, please let them know that they are the most inconsiderate couple on the planet… They sat at the table in a packed restaurant for 2.5 hrs before ordering a salad & then dinner. Inconsiderate of other patrons and Rick, the best ever, minimizing his tip revenue & the public of their dining experience. They were asked to leave or order something by the manager after 2.5 hrs and only then ordered. These people should be publicly executed.

My first time here. The family took me here for a belated birthday celebration. They made reservations, which I hear is a must! We got here 40 minutes before our reservations so we sat at the old school bar. The drinks were good, nothing is cheap here so be prepared. The place is a nice old style Steakhouse, which is what I liked I ordered the prime rib and it was really good. The baked potatoes served here are on steroids! The salads were very crisp and fresh, the house dressing is on point I’ll be back!

My experience here could have been whole lot better if it wasn’t for our waiter Adrian. I have never seen a server so abrupt, short, no class and rushing you in every way. I mean this is pretty expensive restaurant yet because of our waiter I felt like I am at some cheap, divey restaurant. I was never asked how I like my wine. He is very quick to clean our table. Wtf. We had to pay gratuity because there were 7 of us. UnilocalES what were you thinking giving them 4 and 5 stars. I will not be back. Oh yeah and DONOTORDERTHESHRIMPCOCKTAIL. WHAT A RIPOFF. YOUGETTINY5OVERCOOKEDSHRIMPSFOR $ 16DOLLARS. JOKE.. when I complained to our waiter, he said«oh you are the first one to complain » WTF.

It was my first time here. My boyfriend decided to take us out for a dinner date. The location is a bit hidden, however the décor was very nice, an old school steak house. We made a reservation for 7:30 and was seated right away. The food was excellent. We split a 34oz tomahawk ribeye and it was more than enough for the both of us. The baked potato and onion rings complemented the steak very nicely. The server was polite and attentive. The overall experience was pleasant and I would come back again.

My 3rd time coming here and as always, the service and the food is exceptional. Came in for a holiday lunch with the officemates and considering we did not make any reservations, we only waited for a few minutes. Our server is always checking up on us, we don’t need to ask for refills or anything because she already knows what we need. The food is one of the best steaks. Had filet mignon with lobster and it’s delish! Perfect medium rare steak and sweet juicy tail. The onions for the baked potato is a lil bit too much for me, but all in all it was a very satisfying visit once again

I really enjoyed this steak house. The atmosphere was very old school and nice. The waiter was very nice, funny, and helpful. I ordered the new York steak. The steak comes with onion rings and a baked potato. The steak was pretty big and juicy. I’m not a big fan of onion rings but everything else was great. I’ll definitely recommend this steak house. Specially if you are craving a good steak on a random day. The prices are pretty good.

Came here for family dinner two adults one teenager, and three kids under 10. My wife and I usually come alone, but I didn’t want the usual burger place on family night. The food is always exceptional here and the service is the best around. You can’t help but feel relaxed and well taken care of. It is rare that servers can capture the attention of children and entertain them long enough to let mom and dad relax a little. Mom had the filet mignon, my 16-year-old had ribs, and of course I got the ribeye. Steaks are always cooked to perfection and the table side grill finishes them off with the little char. This place is definitely a great experience if you’ve never been here. I would suggest you try it at least once, but I promise you it won’t be your last time visiting. You will never be satisfied with another steak once you try them here. Oh, and the kids burgers are also a cut above.

4 ½ stars. I was craving a steak but didn’t want to drive an hour one way for dinner. This Clearman’s is located in Pico Rivera which is just west of my residence I took streets in and was a short drive. I made reservations via open table on a Friday and it was a good idea because the bar, sitting area and dining room were packed. We were seated immediately to a private area which had a limited amount of tables and was cozy. Our friendly and professional waiter was spot on and informed us of the special cuts of the evening. We were brought the signiture sinful chresebread for starters which is equivalent to crack on bread. I selected the bone in ribeye medium rare which came with the largest Idaho baked potato I’ve ever encountered and onion rings. BTW all entrées begin with unlimited green salad and pickled cabbage. The presentation of the food is mouth watering — as they bring the wood seared steaks out separately and assembled my entrée tableside — on a push cart. The only con here was we didnt have room for dessert even though we packed plenty of left-overs. I’ll definitely return here again since it’s so convenient and satisfing.

3.5 stars (but I always round up like you’re supposed to do in math) RESERVATIONS Make reservations for their busy nights. This can be done online or over the phone. If you call, currently the number listed on Unilocal(562) 699‑4716 is just a recording. It leads you to this number if you need to speak with someone about reserving a table:(562) 699‑8823. I reserved the earliest slot(10 a.m.) for brunch this past Sunday(8÷30÷15) for our 9th wedding anniversary. OVERVIEWOFCLEARMAN’S STEAK ‘N STEIN As Mike M. alluded, it has that«old world charm» particularly with the bricks building itself, table lamps, old glass chandeliers, large standing menus on each table, the fountain in the lobby, the old paintings… I could go on. The restrooms, while very modern and clean, did not have any baby changing stations. Otherwise, they do accommodate if you have babies or toddlers: kid’s menus, high chairs, and booster seats are available. I also saw a person in a wheelchair there, and they seemed to have met their needs very easily. While I would say they are kid-friendly, it’s a bit formal with the lit candles everywhere and white linen tablecloths. I really like the study wooden tables. The comfy chairs with arms have wheels so you can glide over the carpet very easily. There are a couple of flat screens near the bar with sports on. There’s also live music! A gentleman and his keyboard were playing midway through our meal. So, overall this is a better place for say, a romantic dinner or a business meet. SERVICE The hostess seemed indifferent, not at all what I expected from this type of restaurant. Our waiter, «Rick» or Ricardo, who often provided cart service, was great. He kept our bottomless mimosas flowing and checked on us quite often. He even took a picture of us all together when it wasn’t too busy. My only complaint is that it was a bit slow that morning… While I and our kiddos received our meal, my husband didn’t get his until several minutes later. FOOD The food, while served mostly warm and was good, it wasn’t exactly memorable. BUT, it was a TON of food… — Bottomless mimosas(2 or $ 10) — these were never low. They have a new prix fixe menu that comes with your choice of a salad or muffins and dessert: — Muffins: the banana nut was okay. The blueberry was even better. We ordered an extra one($ 3) for our daughters. — French toast($ 19) — I had this and they were fine, just not as hot as I wanted them to be & I tried my food as soon as it was served because my husband told me to… My over easy eggs were good. The potatoes were delicious and fluffy cubes with sautéed onions. — Pancakes — my husband got these. They were good when we finally got them. — Scrambled eggs(2 side orders @ $ 4 each): This was more than enough for our baby girls. On a normal morning at my house, this looked to be 4 large eggs on a single plate. — Orange sherbet — a pleasant treat with a cherry on top! — We didn’t get charged for our daughters’ milks served in little plastic to-go cups with straws, but we left a nice tip… Our total brunch balance due: $ 84.69. PARKING Parking lot around back was plentiful. We were the first ones there, though, right at 10 a.m. I do not believe they have valet like a slightly similar restaurant, Dal Rae, also in Pico Rivera does. I would like to go back when our girls are a bit older because they got super bored with the wait at the end and we had to rush our waiter. Maybe a steak at dinner instead. Go here for a special occasion and make sure you have plenty of time and patience. It’s that kind of place. Meanwhile, you can nibble on the free shelled peanuts… Review #391 Unilocal challenge 72⁄100
