Very chill environment friendly staff price on the beers are great… Large TV to watch sports. Great selection of music in the juke box all a lottery machine.

Great local spot. I came here during the week, and it wasn’t too busy and loud. It’s great being able to hold a conversation with others without having to elevate your voice. If you want to get away from the crowded bars, I recommend Poor Denny’s. Best of all, the prices are very affordable!

Been coming here for 13 year and it’s the best dive bar in Whittier. Inexpensive drinks, great jukebox, awesome dark dive bar feel and most of the bartenders are cool. They stopped serving food, sucks because their tombstone pizza was the best. Sometimes it can get a little rowdy and overly packed with a diverse crowd of hipsters, cholos and old regulars. A Young crowd has recently discovered this place, probably due to the fact that most of Uptown closes at midnight. For anyone with a backbone, cash and a good head on their shoulders should try this place. Very memorable.

Pretty chill little spot that’s close to home! They don’t have a tap, but they have a decent selection of bottles and a full bar.

It is what it is. Its a dive bar. A lot of locals go here. if youre the type that wants a beer after work or live local this is the spot for you. The drinks are affordable and they show the dodger games here. If youre looking for fancy… this isn’t your place. If your game for a few drinks and nothing fancy youre good here. Seems to be busy around the first, fifteenth, and 30th of each month. overall cool/decent crowd.

Next on our Sunday bar run was this little hidden spot in area filled w/apartments, businesses and next to a raunchy motel. W/that said, I was a little scared because I grew up in that area next to the other dive bar(the Stein) and that there is a lot of activity that goes on, but seems that is mostly when darkness falls probably late on certain nights I suppose… Verdict: It was cool, a true dive w/nautical theme going(reminds me of my older brother’s collection of antique sailboats, that looked more like a grandfather collection)…I liked it though. Cash only, no draft, cheaply priced bottled beer & hard liquor & I saw wine. Jukebox, vintage vinyl booths, dark and a casual chill atmosphere. Crowd old mixed w/young. Music was cool, 70’s/80’s mix early in the day and later(we came back) it turned into heavy metal. People/locals were pretty cool and friendly. It also was getting filled up, I can see it getting packed as night progresses. We’ll be back.

a dive-ish bar that has about 5 feet from the bar to the wall, which runs along the length of the location, with little nooks on each end. the drinks are what you’d expect, and the place is semi-busy even on «busy» days. 3⁄5

Divey, psuedo nautical, and kind of rad… Cheap drinks and beers… low on pretense and with a sort of unpredictable vibe that only comes with drinking in neighborhood taverns across the L.A. Basin. U shaped booths are good for having drinks and sharing some conversations with friends. It’s mainly a during the day, post-rehearsal spot for me so I couldn’t give much too much insight on what the night crowd is like…

Went there last friday. When my friend suggested going to real dive she wasn’t kidding. You could easily drive right past this place. The décor is straight out of the 1970’s complete with some cool blues lights. The jukebox plays an eclectic mix to say the least mostly forgotten 80’s metal. Great place to make out, low lights and no one bothers you. The Drinks are what will make me go back! Great generous pour! and the price, it’s almost a steal !!! if you’re not into been«seen» or trendy this is a great place to down some stiff cheap drinks.

Ended up here on a Friday night. A friend from Boston came to visit and he insisted we hit this place up. Man. am I glad we did! As soon as we got there we got some beers and went straight to the jukebox(GREAT selection of music). Him and I started playing music we liked and it seems like everyone at the bar loved it, since people kept getting up to dance. At one point when we played«Let’s Get It On» by Marvin Gaye, I saw the GREATEST rendition of this song sung live by 2 older dudes lol. Definitely one of the best/fun times I’ve had at a bar. If it wasn’t for some jerk who was there by himself and looking for trouble with my buddy, the night would’ve been perfect. Anyways, I hope to come back soon!

Where the drinks are dirt cheap and the clientele is even dirty n cheaper. Ha… lol. All kidding aside you want a cheaper place to drink? STAYHOME… It’s a product of the environment. which means it has it’s local charm, if your not the venturing type again stay home. But whether your young or old this is a great place to get your drink on.

Shannon makes the BEST michelada! throw an umbrella in that bitch, and you’re set to party. Don’t come here with high ass hopes, you’ll be disappointed. It’s as dive-y of a place as they come, nothing more… and nothing less!

Great Jukebox, and it’s A DIVEBAR!!! SOGETOVERIT… If you expect a line, or a douche bag bouncer with a velvet rope; DONTEVENGETOFFYOURCAR! For a dive bar, I give it four stars because: It’s relatively clean, it doesn’t smell like throw-up; and the jukebox AND bartender are great. Cheap, and not too small of a venue.

PARTOFTHEDIRTBAGRUNREVIEWSERIES: If you want to experience a whole other side to Whittier, or just plain blah of the Uptown scene, then venture out towards the 605 off Washington Blvd to this little dive. A stone’s throw from two other dives, and with a handful of so good but so bad for you eateries within grasp(Doublez, El Atacor, Douglas, etc.), Poor Denny’s is not without it’s own charms. Let’s get right to the point. This is a dive bar, so the drinks will be stiff and cheap, and the people will be interested. Though admittedly, recently a surge of would be hipsters and younger locals, in addition to the colorful regulars make any given Friday nite a fun time to be had. They have a decent jukebox, and the service can get hairy when it’s packed. They have a darts machine and I think they got pacman or galaga, and one of those gamble/solitaire/lottery machines, but yeah, that’s where exiles dare tread. Getting a booth requires a group effort that is early in striking a spot and sustained in holding on to it, if you hang aroung long enough to want to plant yourself here. Personally, the barstool tables near the entrance make for primo real estate for people watching and engaging others on the way in or out, or just to sit back and enjoy the spectacle. I like the street sign outside personally, it has an almost corny cartoony retro charm(kinda like the one at Animal Krackerz in la Habra). Friday nites are alright, as the regulars, hipsters, and pretty people contingent tend to drop in for a drink or two, or at the least a cameo. All in all a solid little dive.

This is a total dive bar. Very old and dingy place I couldn’t believe it was open in the morning of all times. I thought bars opened up in the afternoon and beyond this place was open at an early hour. There was already drunks a couple of drunkards inside. I just peeked in and got a soda.

Dive. Dive. Dive. But I like dives, especially when its less than a mile from my front door! Cheap drinks, clean restrooms, friendly bartender and good box. Now the crowd is really, really mixed and that doesn’t really bother me much. I only gave 2 stars because of the location and police patrol.

Most people writing reviews about this place expect it to be a place out of hollywood. Nah, man. This place is a straight up dive! As in, you had a crappy day, you want stiff drinks and don’t want to pay, you come and DIVEIN. Its got that unkept charm to it that rarely gets the credit it deserves. They got a juke box, the clientele encompasses everybody, but you’re not really going here for the people necessarily. Truth is, stiff drinks, good service, good prices, and a place where no matter how packed it gets, you feel as though everyone respects eachother enough not to bother one another.
