Eden Crest Vacation Rentals

Our one year wedding anniversary was overall enjoyable despite of the following:
No use of the fireplace– Flute to the fireplace was not opened (didn’t see where there was one to open) which caused the fire alarm to go off.
No use of the hot tub– Unless it was during the day we could not use the hot tub due to the lights in the hot tub not working. The patio lights were to the far left and was very dim. Not to mention the trash bins were placed right by the hot tub.
No use of the kitchen lights– Light above the stove (light from microwave installed above) was not working. Kitchen sink light didn’t always work. It was really annoying to cook in really dim lighting from the living room during dinner time.
No use of the Jacuzzi in the bedroom– By the time the water reached half way, the furnace ran out of hot water. We were left with lukewarm (at best) water.
Pool table– There were coasters were placed under each leg to level the table but it was still obvious when playing. Seeing we couldn’t use the fireplace, the hot tub, or the Jacuzzi we played pool most of the time despite how unleveled it was.
Customer service– Overall they were very nice but unfortunately they did not meet our satisfaction when we called for maintenance on the hot tub and flute. They said they were going to put a ticket in to have it worked…2 days later still no one came to fix it so we never got to use the fireplace or enjoy the hot tub. The other issues were not reported, it was just too much to call in not to mention no one showed up for the 2^nd call. Yes second call… the alarm was acting up on day one and wouldn’t stop beeping.
I was really looking forward to writing a good review so I hate that our experience has led me to write this but I feel it’s important to come forward so it can be corrected for the next customer.

Stayed at the About Time cabin, managed by Eden Crest Vacation Rentals. Upon arrival, the house looked great, but as we found out, looks can be deceiving.
The first night, we heard loud noises throughout the house and realized we were in the company of critters. I thought they were mice, then they got REALLY loud. There was no «evidence» of them being in the house (just the walls & ceiling) so I tried to let it go. After the second night, it was unbearable. After 2 phone calls to the EC office and an in-​person visit to the office on Thursday morning (2 days before we left), they finally sent an exterminator out. We were told the house was infested with flying squirrels! The exterminator only placed one trap outside (even though several holes were clearly visible on the side and roofline of the house) and it did nothing. We got very, very little sleep, as there were probably 10 – 20 of these things running through the walls at all hours of the night. So much for a restful vacation. :-(
In addition to the rodents, we also had the following issues:
–1^st floor master bath shower wouldn’t stay in its holder (maintenance tried to replace it, but it only made the problem worse)
–2^nd floor master bathroom toilet was incredibly loud and couldn’t be flushed at night as it would wake the whole house (maintenance supposedly tried to fix it, but there was no improvement)
–Dust EVERYWHERE including tabletops, air vents, bathroom exhaust fans, etc. When we informed the EC office of this, rather than just send someone to clean, they wanted to send a full-​blown HVAC company to take apart all the vents and to a thorough cleaning. Fine, but I didn’t want all that going on during my stay there.
–Dead bugs in several light fixtures
–Gas grill ran out of propane after one use (was replaced immediately)
–Lots of mold/​mildew in all 3 showers
–Inadequate/​very poor quality cookware (we had to cook for 7 people using 1 frying pan-​type thing and a cookie sheet)
–No chairs (aside from 2 tree stumps) on the beautiful porch as depicted on their website. We were unable to sit outside and enjoy the view.
–Pool table had a large «stain» on it. It looked more like a large tear that was repaired with some kind of plastic iron-​on patch.
–Wi-​Fi is EXTREMELY slow in the house
–Tons of cigarette butts all over the property
–Not that this was an «issue», but we started to realize that this was most likely faith-​based organization and the cabin somewhat reflected that. Lots of crosses and other religious-​type items around the house. The EC rental office has a large (and bizarre) painting of Jesus with two suit-​clad businessmen behind the front desk. I figured some guests, not aware of this might find this a little awkward.
None of these appeared to be new issues and in my opinion, should’ve been addressed well before our visit. The EC policy (which we didn’t find out until our stay was almost over as it’s posted inside a cabinet we never had reason to open) is that they generally do not issue any type of refund, but rather try to fix the issues once they are reported. We reported the issues on Tuesday & Wednesday by phone (they only have record of my call on Tuesday) and finally an in-​person visit to the EC office on Thursday morning (we left Saturday morning). In the end, we were offered a $ 50 refund which we still have not received as well as a $ 50 credit which we will never use. For what we paid for 5 days/​6 nights (over $ 2000), I would’ve expected a lot more. Overall, this was a fairly poor experience, the worst part being the critters making so much noise at night.

My family stayed in the Mountain Movie cabin with my MIL booking it. Upon arrival, we were all surprised to find a bunch of cabins close together. We were expecting cabins to be spaced out more, which would have been much nicer. Entering the cabin everything seemed pretty nice. Typical cabin décor of outdoorsy and woodsy things. As far as cleanliness, seemed decent. We did find a few lights out, one being a shower light. My FIL called about the lights. Someone dropped off some regular light bulbs for us. The shower light needed a flood light but we used the regular light given to us.
When we tried to use the movie theater the sound wasn’t working. Thankfully someone in our family is good with electronics and was able to figure it out. Also, multiple people discovered that one of the couches in the theater on the right side was broken. I can attest personally to this as I sat on the broken side and dipped down into the couch. Before leaving, my FIL lifted up all the chairs in the movie room to check for any lost toys and it was disgusting. I saw for myself all the crap under them that had not been cleaned. There was practically a whole bag of jellybeans dumped under there!
There were two hot tubs in our cabin. I only used one of them. The time that I and several others used it the temp was 97 and would not go any higher. The next night we tried again and it was up to 104. Not sure why the one night it wouldn’t get hotter. I did enjoy the jacuzzi tubs and so did everyone else. They were used every day.
Having the different games available was nice and we used them. Couldn’t get the darts to go in the board very well. The air hockey table was good except over the goals the edge is sharp and taped up. I actually cut my wrist on the sharp edge when playing.
Lots of tvs for those who want to watch but watch different things too. No internet. Wifi would have been nice but can live without for a week. Beds were comfortable.
We did use the washer and dryer for clothes and towels. We found that we had to have the dryer on a particular setting or it wouldn’t dry at all. It would have been nice to have extra trash bags around in the house. We had to go buy our own. I mentioned several times throughout the week how it would’ve been really nice to have a broom in the house for us to use to sweep the floors.
All of that I mentioned above is small fries I can deal with. I think my biggest pet peeve was noise. I’m not sure if it’s a wood floor thing or what but you could hear people walking around throughout the whole house on the upper floors. It was loud and it echoed. Not such a big deal until people are trying to sleep.
Overall the cabin was OK but it’s not somewhere I’d stay again for the price.

Moose-​behaving was more like Misbehaving Moose
First time renting a cabin from Eden Crest, we regreted. We usually rent from another company unfortunately they didn’t have any availability, so we found a cabin that fit our requirements with Eden Crest. This was a birthday celebration vacation. When you reserve the cabin, they are super nice and very accommodating. Be ready that niceness will be different once you experience problems with the cabin. We arrived to cabin past 4pm, checkin is at 4pm time. The cabin is very nice, but what made things a nightmare is the care takers, Eden Crest, mostly some of their management lacking customers service skills. Cabin had cleaning issues such as: bath tubs with black residues in them, one of the room sink had pubic hair, oven door had spider web inside, hot tub water smelled like mold, air filter was filty mostly dog hair, little coffee tables with dust, one of the bedroom carpet had stains, the other some of the carpet was ripped, downstair and upstair loft wood floor were scratched. We immediately called it in especially because we didn’t want to be blame for it. Also we were told that cabin was been inspected as well as been cleaning. We called to report issues and spoke to a David and was transferred to Rene, manager on duty. They did sent Steven, maintenance manager, and Kristen, manager of cleaning crew. Both were very nice and had better customers service skills than Rene. We even asked to be switched to another cabin, but there was nothing available so we were told. We wasted almost 3.5 hours of our vacation waiting for people to verify what we were saying was true as well as them cleaning cabin for us and taking pictures. Steven and Kristen were very concerned and apologetic about the issues we encountered. We demanded to speak to general manager, Mykael Lourens, she never took the time to return our phone calls. Rene told us she would discuss our issues with general manager and see what they could do for our unfortunate situation. But that was really a way to get us off the phone as she was not very helpful and try to twitst things like it was our fault. The next day no one called us, so around 1pm or so we called and spoke to another manager, Todd, he had an attitude and his tone of voice was not very customer service oriented. We had to go over the events again with him, total waste of time. He said that either him or the general manager was going to call shortly. After several hours and no call back, we called again. He returned our call saying there is nothing they can do, they were sorry we lost hours but they did clean the cabin and that these are older cabins. They wanted to give us one or two passes for a disgusting dinner place or wonder works. We just tought the right thing to do is to issue us a credit for the arrival day. He said they can’t do that and that he discussed this with general manager too. Also to make readers aware although cabin says sleeps 8, it’s false advertise. Two sofa beds available in the cabin are deformed and you cannot sleep in it. There were a lot of bugs every where. We didn’t even bother to call office as they are not into recurring business, they don’t care to keep you as a customer. We went and buy air mattresses from Walmart. We were trying to find better sleeping arrangements but it was difficult to find something to accommodate us and our pet. We cut our vacation short and left cabin a day earlier. We finally got our detailed invoice once we checked out which had a lot of hidden fees that were not mentioned to us at time of reservation. They are so unprofessional and sneaky. If you want to put a review don’t do it in their website or the cabin guest book as the will rip pages of bad reviews or delete them from their website.

We stayed in Pigeon Forge at Smokey moutain Christian Village 12÷25÷14−01÷01÷15. Eden Crest was the management company. We had some concerns. Todd called us when we got home and offered some financial remuneration. We expect to receive this soon. Thank you.

You can take exception all you want. And you should get your facts straight before you challenge me. You say the dust issue just wasn’t true. Really?!? Are you foolish, unaware, or just genuinely dishonest? What do you think the word «dust» was written in on top of the fridge in the picture I POSTED IN THE REVIEW? Here’s a hint: it was written in the DUST! And yes, we did complain about the cleanliness IN PERSON! You don’t have a record because (assuming you’re not lying about it) your employees didn’t make one. Also, we never complained about a smoke detector battery — another lie. And the new rug didn’t replace a dirty rug; you all brought it in to cover the nasty carpet stains in the bedroom (but you needed A LOT more rugs if you wanted to cover them all) — that’s one more lie on your part. Please don’t respond to this again as it will only make you look sillier and more dishonest. I enjoy a good debate, but you make it too easy. The facts are on my side, sir, and making things up and taking exception will not change what happened!

Stayed in the Amazing Grace cabin for a mini family reunion. Everything was clean and the views were amazing. We’ll definitely be back!

Sketchy company. Claims to have lower rates on their website, but then will always quote you the highest rate listed regardless of season or day of the week.
Cross-​lists their cabins on Trip Adviser at lower rates, but then when you speak to them directly they claim to know absolutely nothing about the lower rates and deny that they are listed at Trip Adviser at all.
If I was a cabin owner, I would choose a different management company. If I was a cabin renter, I would rent elsewhere where the rates are always significantly lower.
EDIT: I appreciate the management replying to my comment, and in fact I’d like to add to things in response to his reply:
1. He mentions their «great customer service» — nope. When I was discussing the rates discrepancies with their staff and also trying to find out which dates, if any, they offered less than their highest rates posted — they refused to give me answers and simply HUNG UP ON ME. (This was via an online chat session, and they just said «That is all the information I have. Goodbye»)
2. He mentions that you can rent cheaper in the area but it is less quality. I ended up renting (from another company) a brand new 6 bedroom, 8 bathroom cabin with hot tub and private indoor heated pool for 425 a night. Eden Crest refused to quote me less than 750 a night for a smaller cabin with no pool.
