So yes, hush puppies were underseasoned, but it was free. Can’t complain about free food because they’re free afterall. Don’t be that guy. I ordered the Chicken Liver(at the behest of the lovely server womanlady) and my SO ordered the famed fried catfish with garlic seasoning. Warning about chicken liver — it is ONEWHOLEPOUND of fried chicken liver. I haven’t had chicken liver in a while, and was sort of unprepared by the gamey taste. HOWEVER, once i got used to it, it was delectable, like the server womanlady said. I ate half of it in the restaurant and the rest later that night. SO thought the catfish was«pretty good. lightly fried. would try with salt and pep next time.» All in all, with the quaint atmosphere and cozy service, definitely recommend! It’s a really cute spot for lunch.

Well, I DID like this place… we visited here yesterday evening for our last meal on our Pigeon Forge trip. My wife and I both ordered the Catfish and Shrimp. When I came here several years ago, it was lunchtime and the place was dead. This time, it was dinner time and the place was rockin’. The staff was apparently unprepared, as there were two servers for an entire dining room full of people. Our server was working her butt off and did a great job serving us. Everything was great after she brought out the vittles… I love hush puppies. Good service and good vittles equal two stars. That was the only redeeming quality on display that particular evening. Then came the entrees… Yuck. I would be ashamed to serve lousy catfish if the name of my restaurant was«Huck Finn’s Catfish.» It was awful. I can’t explain what exactly was wrong with it. It just tasted… weird. The shrimp wasn’t as bad, but it wasn’t any better than the shrimp that you could get from a fast food chain restaurant. The price isn’t outrageous. I think our bill was $ 42, tip included. Unfortunately, we went back to the cabin right after eating and I spent the next hour in the bathroom because I felt like vomiting. I normally can eat just about anything without issue, but I would have to say I will not be returning to Huck Finn’s in the future.
