My favorite of the 4 distilleries visited in this area. Tasting is similar to the others, though you can get vodka and rum in addition to 3 varieties of unflavored shine and several flavored shines. For $ 2 you can get a poker chip and a 1 ounce taste of their 8 year old bourbon, which the selected and bottled from casks distilled by George Dickel. They have a working still inside the store and I enjoyed spending 20 minutes talking to the head distiller Keenan. He was very generous and delayed his lunch talking to us. Their merchandise is cool, including pottery from the Old Mill pottery and knives from the forge next door. We bought a $ 30 moonshine jug. And a copy of the documentary that made Popcorn Sutton and moonshine a mainstream phenomenon.

Very nice variety of moonshine. Very knowledgeable people working there. Brooklyn was great!

Had a great time tasting the moonshine and had a terrific hostess for that! Loved the store! However, was disappointed that after buying 9 bottles of moonshine, a bottle of whiskey, rum, and vodka along with a few souvenir items they forgot to put my «free» lemonade in the bag! I went back several hours later after calling and being told to come in and they weren’t so friendly this time and acted as if they were the ones inconvenienced! I thought I was to get 4 but they said the limit was 1 but threw in another one reluctantly for a total of 2!

This is a winner! They offer complimentary tastings and the associate who tended to us was very sweet, professional and knowledgeable. They have a great variety to choose from. The accessories and gifts in the store are also well chosen and high quality. Nothing cheesy or cheap. All of the associates were very friendly in the store.

Compared to the other distilleries in the area, I believe Old Forge to be the most professional. I care a lot about first impressions, and I believe that the way your employees present themselves can either reflect positively or negatively on your business. I refused to financially support places like«Sugarland’s» in Gatlinburg. I didn’t come to hear trash talk and the f-bomb. And I definitely don’t drink to get drunk, as it seemed most of their employees were. I came to test your product. OLDFORGE was clean, professional and they seem to have a very knowledgeable staff. And I love that they make all their product right on site. I appreciate being taken seriously and not being insulted, or being forced to listen to dirty jokes. Thank you for making such a great first impression! Skip the other moonshine distilleries. Go to Old Forge!

The staff was not welcoming at all. We walked up to the bar and the girls behind the bar argued about weather another couple at the bar had been there already, for at least 5 min before they began the tasting. They acted rude the whole time not interacting with the crowd or even smiling. It ruined my vibe and i left half way through the tasting. They lost a customer because i always make it a point to buy at least one jar when i get a tasting for free.

Nice Samples and merchandise layout, however staff not welcoming or engaging. None of them acted as if they wanted to help us and they were actually discussing how bad the tips were they got the previous night. Didn’t explain samples. Such a disappointment after having such a great experience at Sugarland Distillery.

Free tastings! Vanilla, coffee, and chocolate shine were by far the best! For Apple pie shine, be sure to go to Sugarland as their’s here was underwhelming, but still a fun place. $ 27.99/quart. Definitely check it out.

Even during the mayhem of the July Fourth festivities, we were warmly welcomed and treated to a tasting of 10 different flavors of Moonshine, the right amount of humorous service and no pushy sales attempts. The atmosphere was fun and lively and the Moonshine bottles(Mason jars) with cool labels make a great gifts for those back home. Recommended by our moonshine pouring specialist: Remove the moonshine-soaked cherries from the chocolate cherry moonshine and dip or drizzle them in chocolate(dark, milk or white chocolate). Enjoy!

We wanted to try the moonshine tasting that was the talk of the town. We happened to stop in the area and saw this place. They offered a friendly taste master who explained each type of moonshine before letting you sample. There were quite a few small samples, but you could pick and choose which ones you would drink. They also had a gift shop area with t-shirts and trinkets for purchase. This was a fun distraction for the day.

AWESOME! That’s the easiest way to describe it. Very friendly staff and the Shine is amazing! Ask for different options with Shine and mixers. I’m pretty new to this type of alcohol and I learned a ton about how it’s made and the different tastes! I will be back every time I visit!

Old Forge Distillery makes their own Hand Forge Moonshine. Typically, they have several varieties with a few that are flavored. I purchased the straight corn moonshine and a blackberry flavored moonshine. They have a 15 minute show that allows you to taste 4 of the types of moonshine. Do the show to determine the ones you like. I think they alternate the flavors at times. They had a French Toast and Coffee flavored when I was there as well.

Old Mill now has a stand along distillery. Not as big or as flamboyant as in Gatlinburg — Smoky Mountain Distillery, but, nice people. If you go to Old Mill, stop by here for a tasting or 2, you’ll enjoy it.
