This is a great place to stop before or after hiking in the red river gorge area. The menu is simple — mainly an assortment of gourmet quesadillas and hot dogs — but the food was really good. I ordered the chipotle chicken quesadilla and was surprised by the large amount of chicken on it. They really didn’t skimp out on it! Most dishes range from $ 5 to $ 6.50, and they are quite filling. They also have an assortment of local beers on drafts to choose from. The service was friendly, and the food came out quick. There’s a place to play darts inside. Additionally, the place offers rock climbing classes and you can buy your overnight passes for the national park here.

I loved this little place! Decent food and a great atmosphere. REALLYGOODBEERS on tap for the area! You can also spend the night and get climbing gear. I was there 2 years ago and I am planning on visiting again when we go back to the gorge this spring.

My family and I visited here this last weekend. It was a great place to grab a lunch. The hotdogs and quesadillas were excellent. They even had vegetarian chili and a veggie hotdog for my wife. The microbrew selection on draft is incredible. Also a great place for hostel-style lodging for hikers or climbers.

I was riding through Central Kentucky and happened upon Sky Bridge Station. I am vegetarian and was quite pleased with the veggie options on the menu. The chili was the best I’ve eaten, meat or meatless. What a wonderful surprise in a very unexpected location.

Great place on your into or out of the Daniel Boone forest. Menu is a bit limited with dogs and quesadillas, but these are really good. Cold beer on tap as well. Staff is very friendly. Will come back again when in the area.

Stumbled upon this place on our way to see Chimney Top Rock. Turns out it is NOT the Chimney Rock from Oregon Trail, but this place made the trip worthwhile. We got The Epic Journey, The Slaw Dog and the Chipotle Quesadilla. All three completely to-die-for. The beers on tap are surprisingly good, and the atmosphere is unparalleled to something you’d find in a tourist camping/hiking/climbing town. No cheesy old-timey business here. This is much more like a Fort Collins, Portland, or Utah hang. It’s apparent the owner/employees aren’t locals and if they are, they clearly left for a bit and came back. Bravo for keeping the log cabin, Kentucky feel without the Midwest mindset.

A few weekends ago, we were hiking with another family at Rock Bridge Arch. On our way out to the trail, we saw this place with a sign for ‘beer’ and immediately my interest was peaked(many counties in Kentucky remain dry — long after Prohibition was repealed). After hiking Rock Bridge Trail and picnicking with the kids, we decided at the last second to stop in. What a GREAT decision! Sky Bridge Station had something like 9 beers on tap — many of which were West 6th brews that are generally quality beers. We had a couple beers; the kids had ice cream; and we all bought t-shirts and trinkets for the kids. After a couple days of hiking, this place was nothing short of PERFECT! It reminded me of a high-end Appalachian Mountain Club hut. Great food, super casual wilderness atmosphere, and a great place to simply RELAX. When hiking the White Mountains in New Hampshire earlier this year, we stopped at the Galehead Hut where the menu consisted of three items, and you paid by leaving your money in a basket. Sky Bridge Station isn’t far from this system. When we checked out, we had to tell the bartender what we had, and he rang us up — a half-step removed from leaving your money in a basket. While this setup drove one reviewer crazy, I think that’s a matter of expectations. Folks who spend some time in the backcountry know and love places like Sky Bridge Station for exactly this reason. We’ll be hiking the Gorge again this weekend, and this is our Saturday post-hike destination of choice.

Great little place with an Alpine feel and craft beer on tap. Great service and the(simple) menu was executed well.

Beer and a quesadilla after spending the last 48 hours backpacking through Red River Gorge?! Yes please! This place is quite a find. And the food is fantastic! Not to mention they have about 10 local craft beers on tap(West Sixth Brewery — Lexington, KY). I started with the Amos Moses Brown Ale, which was tasty, and then moved on to something lighter — the Cougar Bait, wish was a Blonde Belgian Ale. With it being hot outside, the Cougar Bait was a little more refreshing, but both beers were good. I started with their cole slaw, which is a pretty enormous portion size, and tastes just like traditional cole slaw. After backpacking in the heat for a couple days, I really just wanted something cool and refreshing, and this did the trick. But of course I didn’t just stop there, I ordered their Aztec Quesadilla with shredded beef and it was sooooooo good. It comes with a side of sour cream and salsa, and I couldn’t have inhaled it fast enough. If you’re in the area and looking for something to eat and a cold beer, definitely check this place out. The people who work here are really friendly and helpful, and they make you feel right at home. Highly recommended!

Awesome hot dogs! We both had the Epic Journey, which was quite spicy and delicious. The loaded hummus is amazing! Great local brews! The atmosphere is friendly, casual, chill. My husband and I stopped after an 8 mile hike and were greeted with such a warm and cozy atmosphere! We’ll stay in the hostel next time!

I was not impressed with this place at all personally. I felt it wasn’t an atmosphere I would personally want to go to again and sadly that’s pretty much it. Came here after hiking up sky bridge with a friend and want to get a bite to eat before we head back to Lexington. First the directions were wrong because it’s not located where it says it is. Second when we walked in to sit down pretty much it took about 10 minutes before someone even came up to us and asked us if we wanted anything. Then they go to tell us that there is no fee for the day which eliminates a few options which was not pleasing to me. So I land of ordering the pizza hotdog and chips and salsa. Took them about six minutes to bring her food out and you know they gave us a fork which was nice and asked us if we wanted a knife with that which I decline I ate it like a normal hotdog I would. First bite into the pizza hot dog I was just really upset because they did not even heat the cheese or the sauce in the middle just the hotdog was hot that was it which through off my experience because I believe everything should’ve been warm not lukewarm. Oh did I mention I never received my chips and salsa? Yeah apparently they just forgot about it and I didn’t even pay for it I just told him I had a hotdog and a drink. When we checked out they didn’t even know what we had to eat I could’ve lied about the entire time they write up tickets and didn’t even have it at the register or give it to us before we left like a normal restaurant this is laziness at its best and personally not something you should see at a restaurant. I understand maybe this place gets five stars because it’s a cheap way to it now camp out before going hiking again but personally I would not come back here for anything you experience out the cooks everyone who work there pretty much stayed in the kitchen no one really came out and even had a conversation with us maybe cause I’m not dressed like some hiker person but that should not be a reason to treat someone like they don’t exist in your place. I feel they need to get their manners in order and maybe even expand their menu a little bit more like some hamburgers or something because six dollars for you know a hotdog that wasn’t even really warm is my experiences just sad. I will not be going back to this place again.

Best place down in «The Gorge». The dogs are on par in creativity and execution with Senate in Cincinnati. The beer selection makes roughing it for a weekend even better.

Exactly what it’s supposed to be! A great place to take a load off, is easily the perfect meeting place for friends before and/or after a trek or pitch. They have a straight forward menu that truly offers something for everyone; doesn’t duplicate other local offerings, doesn’t try to offer everything. The food is top notch and the service is friendly with a balance of ease and attention. The beer selection is outstanding; unmatched if you appreciate ky proud businesses and great craft beer on draught. They also have a wonderful modest offering of supplies in the KRAG corner. Enjoy an impromptu board game with new friends. The evening I was there, we were surprised with an impromptu live music jam session. :) This is your spot if your looking for a nice chill setting to meet up, rest up, and fill up; anytime of day.

My husband and I recently stayed here and the service was spectacular and the rooms in the hostel were clean and comfortable. Can’t beat the price for $ 17/bed. Good place for either a nights rest, to grab a beer, or stock up on equipment before going into the Gorge. Owners are friendly and laid back and we will definitely be stopping by here on our next trip!

After a long day of climbing the food and beer here really hit the spot. I had the veggie steakhouse and slaw dog, both were awesome. They have a great beer selection too. I will definitely come back again.

Totally rad pit-stop on the way through the Gorge. Kick-ass hot dogs and cold beer. Try the epic journey dog, you won’t be disappointed in any way. Not only were the food and drinks good(and affordable), the place itself is super cool. A decent selection of camping supplies(mostly what my girlfriend called«incidentals»… the small things you can easily forget) and lodging on-site(and inside) are clutch offerings.
