Maverick Restaurant

Great service on a Friday night. We walked right in and were sat. Waitress was friendly and experienced. Had the chef choose a burger from the menu. It was cooked to order and it came out perfect. Seriously, one of the best burgers had in quite a while. Don’t recall the menu name but it had bacon and pepper jack cheese. Good sweet potato fries also. The open faced flat iron steak sandwich was a great dish not only for its flavor but for its value. A 6 oz flat iron steak cooked exactly to order. Fries went great with the toasted garlic bread, and the side condiments added a nice touch of flavor. They have a full bar also with a nice selection. Happy we stopped in and look forward to our next visit.

Fantastic place in Pine, AZ! Got to talk with the owner Tom for quite awhile — what an interesting guy! I had the BBQ Philly which was fantastic and the BBQ sauce on the side was great! Meat was perfect, presentation great, and portions spot on!
You need to stop here!

This place is horrible, food is bad manager not very nice, I wouldn’t waste my money or time here, many other places in Pine to eat! Doesn’t even deserve a star

This restaurant location has unfortunately been the site of multiple failed attempts. Maverick is the latest attempt at a decent restaurant in Pine, AZ on the crafty streets of the main drag where multiple options for lunch or dinner can be had.
I ordered the smoked chicken sandwich. The description called for thinly smoked chicken. The waitress asked if I wanted spicy, sweet, or combo sauce, which I asked for on the side. So I was very surprised when I got hunks of meat adulterated with a tomatoey bbq-​ish sauce served on a hamburger bun. Had I wanted a chicken bbq sandwich, I would of ordered, or ordered something else, because that wasn’t what I wanted.
Aside from not being what I expected or ordered, it just wasn’t good. Certainly not worthy of any reason to come back, or even try it again. Pity.

Beware eating here may cause you to age, just by waiting!
This place is horrible. We waited 10 minutes to get seated. Another to get our drinks. And another 20 minutes for our waitress to actually take our order.
Our dinner salads were nothing to be desired. Iceberg lettuce and a few shredded carrots and a small cherry tomato. The ketchups on the table were disgusting, crusty ketchup that probably had been there for a few days at least, covered the lid. We then proceeded to wait for another 40 minutes to get our main courses. Obviously the owner needs to hire some more staff because he was slow like molasses!!!
Steaks were okay, but definitely not worth the price.
When ever we drive past we never see a car in the parking lot, we are so shocked that its still open!!!
If you like waiting for okay food, then go here. But my family and I do not recommend it! Go across the street to HB’s. Better service and better food for sure!!! And less waiting.

Great little place to grab some grub. Whether you’re passing through, or up for the weekend… Great food and great service. Locally owned and operated places like these are rare. Support the community.

Portion sizes are way to small and food is meh in general. It’s pretty much bar food status except more pricey than bar food. The meat was low quality and the macaroni was chalky and weird. Pretty much everywhere else in Pine has a better eating experience. Had a bite of my friend’s brisket too and wasn’t at all impressed, once again, definitely low quality meat, has a weird texture to it. Was expecting a lot more. Not impressed at all.
Beware of the good reviews on here as they are likely posted by the owner, I was messaged by someone who left a 5 star review and have been continually harassed by them over the past day about my poor review. So expect to get bullied if you eat at this less than satisfying place and write about it. Totally unprofessional and just goes to show how desperate this place is. There is a reason their parking lot sits empty even on Pine’s busiest weekends.

I rarely give 5 star reviews but felt this establishment was worthy of it. I recently moved to Pine and the wife and I was craving some BBQ. We decided to give Maverick’s a try and it was worth it. The Owner was very friendly and took our order. I ordered a a BBQ beef brisket sandwich, my wife ordered a burger (I don’t recall the name).
Our 7 year old ordered a child’s lunch of chicken strips and mac and cheese. Everything was really good. I am a very opinionated person and am not shy to speak up if the food is lacking. Here, the food was great. The owner makes 3 in house BBQ sauces. I went with the sweet n spicy, this was some of the best BBQ sauce I have had.
We ordered a slice of cherry cheesecake for desert and was pleasantly surprised by an explosion of flavor. This was very full and fresh in both taste and texture. After inquiring about the cheesecake, we were told the owner makes it fresh from scratch! was a nice treat from the usual store bought cake that most places serve.
Its nice to come to a restaurant where the owner takes pride in the food and surroundings. The building was recently remodeled inside and is very nice. Fom the outside it comes of a little plane jane looking, but when you walk in your greeted with nice décor, clean counters, and a friendly environment.
Im glad we took the time to try this place out. If your in Pine or the area and in the mood for some good BBQ and burgers, give this place a try.

Burgers were over cooked. Waitress was super nice, but was overwhelmed with 6 – 7 tables filled.
Plan on 40 minutes for the food to be out and to be underwhelmed.

Two slices of fatty brisket on a plate with horrid mayo laden potato salad for $ 13.95? A rack of ribs ice cold with terrible sauce? Brisket sandwiches with such limited meat it didn’t cover the bun’ The waitress refused to take it back? Do not eat here! Horrid place!

Great place! Delicious food… ribs are amazing. You have to try the Maverick BBQ. The service was a 10!

Our family ate here on Friday, July 25^th. I had the flat iron steak and the other members of our family had ribs. Everything was delicious. The meat pulled away from the ribs just right and the flavor was great. My flat iron steak had a great flavor and it was tender. We ordered sweet potato fries and ranch fries which were seasoned well and delicious. The service and quality of the food was great. We will definitely come back here again. We have a cabin in Pine and it’s nice to have another great place to eat when we stay up there.

Pine, AZ is a small wonderful little town. Not alot of options for ordering out for food. This is a nice new place.
We ordered Beef Brisket, Ribs, and a Torpedo Burger (stuffed with green chili & pepper jack cheese).
Everything was so delish!
We ordered 3 homemade sides: tator salad, slaw, and ranch fries. All were very delicious!
Very happy with the service and the quality of food we received.
We will certainly order here again.
