This is an adequate«New York-STYLE» delicatessen. A reasonable imitation, it misses the flavor and service of a genuine New York deli. I speak from experience. My primary residence, for the 27 years preceding my move to this city, was less than one block away from the Carnegie Delicatessen in Manhattan. I knew Leo Steiner, l and his Carnegie was on my telephone’s speed dial. West Side isn’t bad, mind you. It’s a little brother trying to be like it’s big brother. The fault is in calling it «New York style.» It is not, but that’s OK. It serves it’s purpose and there aren’t many similar restaurants that top it. Part of the problem is the owner, «Mitch.» When I mentioned to him the coffee was weak he became defensive and explained that every customer loves his coffee. I thought, «Can’t be.» I asked him if he felt his coffee was strong enough. Mitch answered, «I don’t drink coffee.» Having overheard the conversation, a long time waitress of the restaurant approached me at the table and said, «If you like I can double brew it. I do that for a lot of customers.» She told me I wasn’t the first to complain! Bad Mitch. Bad, bad Mitch. I have breakfast at West Side Bagels once every week or two. I embrace it for what it is: good enough. My coffee is always double brewed, and Mitch is clueless to what his employees are doing to elevate his business. Go, eat, enjoy.

I was actually surprised at some of these reviews because my experience there was quite good! First, let’s start off with the iced coffee. 32oz of delicious coffee goodness. And hello, coffee ice cubes?! Are you kidding me?! My husband insisted on trying the short rib kanish. It was good, a little dry, but we ate it. We went for a hangover breakfast, so the food didn’t disappoint. Omelet for me which was diner standard and whatever kitchen sink breakfast my husband got was just what he needed. This isn’t a fancy breakfast place but if you want a coffee, home made bagels, eggs and some hash browns, this is a great local option.

Went with my husband today and now realize why all the bad reviews. Service is awful. We asked for sugar for our coffees and guess it was too big a request. We ended up borrowing from a fellow customer as our waiter never returned. After sitting for 30 minutes he hadn’t even checked on us. Then to boot we were asked to give up half our table for a party of 8. We sat for another 15 minutes in a table too small to rest your elbows until we called it quits. We paid for our coffees and left.

I’ve been coming to Mitch’s for several years and lately, especially after reading other reviews it seems as though I’m not the only one who feels their quality is lacking. The first time I came years ago, I ordered the westside story sandwich and was blown away. The sandwich is a brisket sandwich on challah bread with horseradish, roasted peppers and thousand island dressing. It made me want to keep coming back and is something I always order here. The most recent visit(and most likely final one) I was less than impressed. The latest time, we came on a Saturday at lunchtime and were seated right away. We ordered a kid’s tuna sandwich, the westside story sandwich, and a bowl of matzo ball soup. They are a bit pricey($ 5.99 for the bowl of soup and $ 14.99 for the westside story sandwich), but I have no problem paying a little more if the quality is amazing. Our server was not attentive at all. We had to keep asking her for basics, like water. My soup and the kid’s tuna sandwich came out relatively quickly, yet 15 – 20 minutes later, we were still waiting for our sandwich. The matzo ball soup was delicious and my son raved about the tuna. My concern comes in with my most favorite sandwich. First, the sandwich came out without the fries and we were told by the server they would be out shortly. The sandwich was so greasy that we couldn’t even eat it; it oozed with grease. It was bizarre to me because brisket is not a greasy meat. We didn’t even bother following up on the missing fries because we just wanted to get the check and leave. It took us well over an hour to dine at lunchtime on a weekend. We didn’t order anything complicated and there were only three of us in our party. I was left scratching my head as to what went wrong since we’ve been here numerous times. I hope that Mitch’s can work out the kinks and fix wherever they’ve gone wrong.

Food is good but service is awful. Ate here for lunch one day(have eaten here many times but always take out) and we had an issue with the taste in my mothers sandwich(something was just off) … The waitress had to get the manager who basically argued with us(drilled us on what exactly what wrong) she then had to call the owner to get approval on eliminating this item from our bill. Unreal. That is not how you treat customers. If there is a problem you fix it– no questions asked. What’s even more crazy is that they went out of their way to make sure they only took off the cost of the ½ sandwich and not the soup that was part of the meal(½ sand cup of soup special).

Basic food are good. The extras like turkey bacon, they charge an arm and a leg and forget asking to have it cooked well done, it’s like they are giving you the bacon for free and give attitude. Had a bad experience where I gave the waitress a $ 20 and argued I gave her a $ 10.00.(Literally had just come from chase’s ATM) They aren’t the nicest when it comes to service.

Mitch’s is the most ok place ever. It’s amazing how mediocre it is. I’ll give the positives first. Positives: It’s roomier than most other breakfast places. I love lots of lox and roasters but there’s always a wait and when you get in you’re crowded in and everything is on top of you, and you know why? Because they’re really good. Mitch’s has a big space and is just ok so you can relax and you probably won’t have to wait. Another positive is that they have Gluten Free bagels. My daughter is gluten free so it’s great that they have this even though they are just frozen bagels that they reheat. The corn muffins that they bring out at the beginning are pretty good and they have iced coffee with ice cubes made from coffee so that’s cool. Negatives: the food is very typical nothing really worth going here for. The French toast was soggy. We complained to the waitress and she said that just how they cook it there. I got an omelette and the peppers and onions weren’t cooked at all. You can have raw pepper and onions in an omelette. Lastly the bagels are awful. Miami has some good bagels: broadway bagel, bagel express, lots of lox, these taste like they were frozen or something. Overall it’s easier than cooking and it’s not awful but I wouldn’t go here if it wasn’t the closest dinner to my house.

Not bad ambiance, but I don’t recommend the eggs– or whatever it is that they are trying to pass off as eggs. They don’t seem to be real eggs. They are tasteless. I’ve heard other customers make the same complaint.

If you love bagels, then you must come here! Bagels are always my go-to breakfast food and this place has the best Cinnamon Raisin Bagel I’ve ever had and my mom says the same thing about their Everything Bagel, and she’s very picky when it comes her Everything Bagels. The only reason I was in the shopping center in the first place was to see my doctor, but I’m glad my mom dragged me over here. I wish it was a little closer to home or on my way to school because I would love to try some of their other food.

1st time here. Had breakfast and it was great! Almond french toast — so good. 2 eggs perfect. Bacon was crispy but not greasy. And the coffee, I had 3 cups. My son had their special, Westside overload scrambled eggs bacon ham sausage topped with cheese and a side of home fried potatoes. I will be back. I can’t complain about the service. Our waitress was very pleasant.

Okay good bagels keep us coming back. Cream cheeses are good too, the deli selection is also cool. Service is hit or miss. We were sitting for about 10 minutes before being asked what we wanted to drink. When Mitch is there, the place runs very well. The servers definitely try and put their best effort into serving their tables. Not sure if they are under staffed or what’s going on here. Asked for hash browns well done and of course they weren’t well done. Bacon was cracker consistency — insanely overdone. And the food was barely warm. Lots of Lox is MUCH more consistent.

I really love this place. Food is great but it is even better when the owner is around. I go a lot to this place but the last two times i didnt see the owner and the service and food were not as usual. The menu is huge and there is something for everybody. Portions are huge and prices are really good. Matzo ball soup is very tasty. Corned beef and Brisket are super juicy and they taste fresh all the time. Sometimes I have to wait to be seated but times are short, not more than 10 minutes. They also have lots of options to take out. You can order by phone and stop by to grab and go. Again, when owner is around the place is awesome, when he is not, it is another story.

I’m a New Yorker who has been living here for 5 years & yet to find a great bagel. As you know, New York has the best bagels. I finally found an amazing bagel place! We just got two everything bagels with eggs, ham & cheese, not only was it awesome but I could barely finish it! Reasonably priced, great food, clean & the owner was hilarious. What a nice guy. I rarely give five stars but this place really is awesome. I heard some guy walking in saying that it was«a breakfast place», you can get lunch stuff on a bagel too. ;)

Typical Jewish Deli in the heart of Pinecrest. When you walk in, the first thing you see is all the vintage candy your heart could desire. Move along to the deli window, and there will be plenty of delicious mixed salads. They also have light calorie versions to some of the salads such as the Tuna and chicken. They make there bagels fresh all the time and the flavors are great. Believe it or not, their burgers are super hearty and delicious. Everything comes with a pickle so bite in because they’re good for you. I think it’s a great lunch spot and the staff is super friendly. I’ve also ordered the chicken tenders and fries and they were pretty good. It wasn’t covered in too much breading and tasted very good. The candy sections gets me though. They have every different type of vintage candy ever! I go for the Chowards Violets– they even have the gum version too! Yeah it’s a bit pricey but sometimes certain things you want in life(like good food) are worth the extra buck or two.

Delicious breakfast consisted of: 1.Spinach and Feta omelet, potatoes, and a bagel 2.Cap’n Crunch pancakes Of course, my girlfriend and I shared. We both always order something different so we can split the two. Overall, it was very appetizing.

Simple yet delicious breakfast. The service was great and our party was a party of 13 adults, 4 children. They were able to seat us even though the entire party had not arrived yet. Interesting selection of hot cakes. Captain Crunch pancakes? Why not. Great experience overall.

I haven’t tried anything but breakfast so far. They have a good looking deli, and if I come back later, it might update my review. Breakfast-wise: food is good, nothing absolutely amazing, but nothing is bad… except for the prices. There are places in the area with similar quality breakfast at 3 quarters the price. Three of us went for breakfast today, a meal each, and coffee…47 dollars. That is insane. To be fair I will try to make it back for lunch soon, but if it’s the same as breakfast, this will not be my new sunday breakfast place(which is a shame since it’s a block from my house).

More like a 2.5(I’m very serious about my breakfast). I found this place as a surprise as I was in the area and decided to check it out. As usual, I first pulled out my Unilocal application and the reviews seemed solid and the pictures had some great looking dishes! As I walked in, I was pretty shocked with how big this place was, I expected some tables with possibly a little bar area and one or two waiters, however I was met with a large floor plan, a lot of seating available, TV’s on the wall, an exposed brick wall(great design), a large to go counter attached to a deli section with countless salad and sandwich options and an area full of a number of candies that will satisfy your sweet tooth and little ones! I opted to get my meal to go, I ordered a plain 3 egg omelet with home fries and a plain toasted bagel with butter! The meal was just OK, I didn’t feel that it was well seasoned and I had to go top chef with my salt and pepper… The bagel was good but I’ve experienced better at Einsteins(just keeping it real). I feel that the prices are appropriate and the portions given were good in size! I feel that the star seller in this place is the options provided in the deli area, the employee at the counter was so nice and offered me to sample some of there dip and salad options such as the Tuna Salad an Shrimp Dip… These were real good and you could tell it was made with quality ingredients! I honestly wanted to purchase a tub of it but choose to hold off. I feel that with better seasoning being used in the back kitchen for there breakfast options, this place would be a huge contender for my repeated business but I will probably be back to get some dips and salad options!
