I was here on Friday. It was slow. The service was decent. They surprised me with having Phở on the menu. That was a plus. Very clean place, no bugs.(Another plus). Thai tea was perfect. Not too sweet. We also had a bento box. The teriyaki was over cooked. A little disappointed, but overall decent service, clean and pleasant atmosphere and flavorful food. Went back a few days later. Phở was a little better. Service was a little worse. Dumplings were delicious! The alcoholic beverages we ordered were terrible. Still rating a 3.

Wow! This place is a hidden gem! Was a little skeptical at first about getting the pad thai, but it was amazing! Authentic, incredibly tasty, and the food was so good! Will definitely return again with friends!!!

Excellent sushi dinner. Enjoyed the selection of rolls on the menu and all our choices were good.

Barf! This ‘Thai’ food tastes nothing like actual Thai food. I ordered the Massaman curry. Good grief. Not sure how long the potatoes had been lying around… or perhaps they had been microwaved to death, but the dish was completely ruined. The sauce was heavy & thick. Like it was just barely thinned out of a can or packet. The white rice was, surprisingly, edible. Yet since I choose not to eat plain white rice as my meal, I opted for a replacement — Bangkok fried rice with chicken. It came out and, to my dismay, was covered with a topping mixture of cilantro & fried onions. I despise cilantro. Yet, I persevered and removed the affront to my, now second, entrée. I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up. I should have left this poor excuse for a restaurant(don’t get me started on the restroom– THAT should have been my first clue) and found something edible. The rice had no flavor. Very bland & boring. And some of the chicken tasted twice-cooked. Yuk! Don’t waste your $ or tastebuds here. And if someone recommends this place, question their motives. At least Moore Regional Hospital is right down the street. I may hang around for a bit, just in case I need my stomach pumped.

Unimpressive to say the least. Veggies appeared to have been frozen; pad tai noodles were greasy. Would not return.

I am a huge fan of Thai. Thai Basil has the best fresh basil rolls — GETTHEM. There is always a crowd here and they won’t seat you until your whole party arrives, but there is a ton of room to accommodate everyone. The food is always plentiful and top notch. For Thai food in Uptown, this is the spot to be seen.

Food was alright. None of it was bad per se, but the thai tea was off. It seemed like there was soda in it or watered down alcohol in it. We tried the thai food and the sushi. Again not bad, but not too much to write home about either. If you’re here, it’ll be ok. Just don’t go out of your way to get here.

This place had surprisingly good sushi based on its location. We had a variety of rolls and sashimi, each roll was well prepared and the fish was very fresh. The yellow tail, salmon and tuna was very good quality here. Service was good. Overall a nice experience. They also love jalapenos here they add the in each roll pretty much so that is something to watch out for if you don’t like very spicy food.

Food was really good. Service was great also. Nice atmosphere and clean. Price was not bad for the amount of food. Worth a visit.

We were visiting from overseas and I took my family to this restaurant. I must say, if you want good Thai food, this is definitely NOT the place to go! The Tom Yum soup was the worst I have ever tasted. Even the Edamame which is hard to mess up did not taste good… The Thai tea had a bad bitter after taste so we returned it… Rest of dishes lacked good flavor we are used to from traditional Thai restaurants… My family loves Thai food and we were all disappointed with the quality of the food there. We didn’t try the Indian and Sushi so won’t comment on those.

This place used to be truly good but lately they’ve been slipping. I’ve been sitting at the table for about 15 minutes now and nobody has come to the table to even ask for a drink or appetizer order. For shame…

This place was great. A lot of food and all delicious. I don’t eat seafood but still managed to find items I could eat. I had the hibachi chicken and steak and it was great, especially when paired with their white sauce. Yummm.

This place used to have amazing food and service. The management or ownership has changed in the past 6 months or so and my last visit was so disappointing. The sushi, service, and entrees were NOT what they used to be. Sushi looked like grocery store sushi and pad thai was just disappointing. They better get it together before all the golfers show up for the us open or they are going to have a lot of disappointed customers.

Highly recommended! I’ll start with the only minor negatives of heavy, syrupy plum wine and the dishes being brought to the table at varying times, which was odd. That said, they had plenty of other wine options and brought me a replacement glass of Savignon Blanc without complaint. We had my daughter(age 3) with us, and they brought food for her quickly. The house made ginger salad dressing was the best I’ve had in any Thai /Japanese restaurant and the miso soup was definitely more flavorful than at most places. We had shrimp rolls, sushi, sashimi, and teriyaki hibachi chicken, which were all excellent. Definitely check it out if you’re in Pinehurst!

Of all the Sushi places in the Moore County(North Carolina) area, Thai Basil is by far the best. The sushi chef(Sonny) takes true pride in his work and is always eager to create a ‘custom’ treat which meets your tastes. I would highly suggest eating at Thai Basil if you’re in the mood for sushi and/or Thai food. Or just in the mood to support a locally owned restaurant being run by hard working and nice folks. Enjoy!

Really good Thai food! Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star rating was because we only got one rice order for our 6 person takeout order. I should have looked but I assumed there were more in there. Got the Pad Thai and Chicken Curry. One of the better Thai food places I have been.

I have been hearing about Thai Basil as the place to go for Sushi for quite a long time. So when my wife and I went here and had a horrible experience I was really let down. First off, the table had not be cleaned off properly when we were seated. There were crumbs all over the table! I swept them off with my hand and pushed them on to the floor. Next, for a place that is supposedly known for their sushi you would think they would have a sushi menu at our table. Nope. Instead of waiting around, we got one from the table next to us. We did order some Miso soup. I did not know that Miso soup could be messed up, but this was horrible! I think the chef had added lemon grass to the soup, but it tasted more like lemon flavored dish detergent. Our sushi order was messed up and at the end of the meal the waitress brought out some pieces of tuna from the chef. This was shocking because the tuna was so frozen it felt like we were eating a tuna-popsicle. It was disgusting. I think when people recommend this place it is only because they have never eaten Thai or Japanese food before. There are much better Thai and Japanese places in the area… skip Thai Basil, it does not live up to the hype.

We got take-out from here while we were in Pinehurst for our anniversary weekend. We decided to have a night in with movies & thai, so this was our choice. When we went in to order our food, they sat us at the bar & brought us water. They answered all of our questions & gave us recommendations. Amazing customer service! We went with the curry chicken dish & the chicken pad thai. They have a spicy scale(1 – 5 — it was explained that once you reach 3, they use a thai pepper. 1 – 2 is american spicy.) My husband went with 1 on his curry chicken, I went with 2 on my chicken pad thai. We also got calamari as an appetizer. The food was delicious! The calamari, at first, was different because it was not seasoned. Once we dipped it in the sauce though, it was good. The curry chicken was quite spicy & very very good. It came with white rice & was a very generous serving size. My chicken pad thai came with the peanut sauce and was also very good. We’d definitely come back anytime we’re in Pinehurst!

I wish there was a 4 and a ½ cause I would rate them that. This place was amazing. We were welcomed very warmly by whom I assume to be the owner of the place and the rest of the staff. We told the waitress it was our first time there and she took the time to go over the sushi specials with us. Then we met the sushi chef, Sonny. What a great guy! Very friendly and very talented! We ordered 5 rolls and received them all in a very timely manner. Sonny told us his specialty is fusion sushi cause many of the patrons don’t tend to order classic Japanese style sushi and sashimi. I loved the fusion! One of the rolls had a blueberry reduction on it, which gave it a delicious sweetness. All the rolls we got said spicy and boy were they! The perfect amount to give it a real good kick. We loved everything! When the sushi chef found out we do enjoy traditional sushi, he gave us some samples of some fresh Opa and Marlin he had just gotten in. It was amazing! He was very informative and generous. Overall a great experience!!! I highly recommend this place and the best seat in the house is at the sushi bar. Didn’t have a chance to try any of the Thai food, but I am sure it’s good, it the sushi tastes like that.
