Now they sent me to collection to retaliate! DONTGOHERE! AI never been so disappointed. The school is ran terrible in my opinion. I have been a therapist for 15 years and know what I am talking about. The first time I felt let down was at orientation. In my mind that is when you get your books so you can be ready for school. Nope. They spent 2 hours teaching anatomy and how to massage the forearm. In my opinion that should be saved for the classroom time that is credited. They gave nothing to prepare us. Then when school started they used our credit hours to give out books and do introduction. Backwards. I was treated like a child by having to put my books against the wall during a test. I feel the instructors should give supervision if cheating is a problem. New students have to park off campus behind a dumpster and was told to us as «by the way» when we left. Staff parks upfront. Let them park in the back and give th e PAYING students the spots. One instructor spent 3 hours of class time having us cutt up magazines and pasting them on a board. I feel I did not need supervision for that. They over charge you for a massage table that that make money on. I saw discrimination with a pregnant classmate. They didn’t do anything for her. Then they wanted her to buy new shirts as she grew at $ 100 for 5. They just want your money. This is funny. They say scrub pants are unacceptable but shorts are ok. Crazy the way the school is ran! They forgot we are the ones paying THEM. I was denied the use of my table warmer when they have your butt covered by just sheet with the AC on. DON’T GOHERETHEYJUSTWANTYOURMONEY!

I tried this place because it is extremely cheap: $ 20 bucks for an hour massage. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they are students and the price is so low. There are a couple of issues why this is not even worth $ 20. A) you don’t get to choose what kind of massage you want. B) You don’t get to choose who gives the massage. C) each person receiving a massage is only separated from others getting a massage by a curtain, so you can hear everyone else talking, which doesn’t make it too relaxing. I get massages to relax, but you just can’t do it in this loud environment. Overall, they were very nice and sweet. This could be beneficial to some, but I really would just rather pay three to four times more for someone more accomplished. I felt like I was being prodded by an alien. It was really a waste of $ 20 an hour. I would not recommend this to anyone.

For a few weeks, I was hankering to get a massage mostly for the tightness in my neck. Then, in a spectacular fashion, I threw my back out. I wish it was from skiing on a volcano or from cliff diving in Papua New Guinea but alas, it was something far more mundane(I think I was putting socks on). So, push came to shove, and Cortiva was called into action. Did I say call? I meant booked online. As someone who is looking into grafting my iPhone to my left hand, I liked being able to book online. Granted it wasn’t through a mobile site, but I’ll take the ease of use anyway I can get it. Now I know you naysayers will just say, «Melanie, couldn’t you have just called?» Well, to you I say, «Yes. But I’m set in my ways and don’t use my phone as a phone.» As I leave you to ponder that retort, let me amble back to my second Cortiva review. I booked the hour massage this time(although they do offer a 90 min) and got there the requisite 15 mins early. I filled out a couple forms(patient info, Cortiva rules, etc) and then was greeted by my masseuse Lucito. After finding out what areas I wanted extra attention on(back, back and oh, my back), I was taken to the massage room. Since it is a school, the room is open yet private and quite comfortable. The curtains afford privacy as do the fresh linens. The tables are comfortable but whatever padding they have is pure magic. These mystical clouds cradle you now matter how much pressure is being delivered upon evil knots residing deep within your tissues. I’m not saying I’d steal one like a Hilton bath towel, but I’d totally steal one like a Hilton bath towel. My massage: Fantastic. Amazing. Phenomenal. He asked about pressure both before and during the massage so I never felt like I was being tenderized like a ribeye. He was able to kneed the muscles in my legs, thighs and hips. I am a runner and have 5 half-marathons under my belt. The way he kneaded these areas made me instantly promise myself to get a massage at Cortiva after EVERY race from now on. My massage felt a bit Swedish, a bit deep tissue and all tailored for me. I highly recommend booking a massage with Cortiva. You won’t regret it.

Greg Fears, the manager, is the son of Sherry Fears and the family philosophy of excellent work and high standards of teaching lives on at Cortiva Institute — Florida. I recommend that anyone considering attending massage school look at all their viable options; the people who are serious about their education will be back at Cortiva to enroll, because the quality is apparent. The senior students give massages to the public at a reduced rate in the student clinic.
