Come for the inexpensive beer and drinks and the banter of good and very real people, do not come for the food. Antlers is a good local watering hole, a place where locals male and female gather to watch sports, talk sh! t, shoot the breeze and periodically boozily flirt. What more could you want in a local dive bar? Simple mixed drinks will be stiff, so you’ll get your money’s worth. Just don’t order any frou frou drinks. Bartenders and patrons will give the look, and rightfully so. There are multiple tv’s(including one guant proje tion screen) upon which to watch games, so get your local team thing on! If you are hungry, I hope it is only when they have the steak special; otherwise I think you are an intrepid soul and stomach. Oh, if you meet Mississippi, let him regale you with some sports tales and be sure to reciprocate. The man is wonderful and generous, and that’s perhaps why the drinks are so too.

Most racist bar in Pinole. I walked in and immediately heard some hick trash locals start yelling(oorah) at me and looking at me crazy(I’m of middle eastern descent). The bar tender walks over to them and talks to them for a while. Mind you I’m still waiting to be served and the bar is almost empty. After about 5 min the bar tender walks over to me and then proceeds to ask me about my background. I just want a drink… Racist idiots.

Antlers Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast are the best, especially with Irish coffee.

I am a fan of old watering holes. This is the landmark bar for Pinole. It is just a bar but the pictures and character of the building give an enjoyable experience down memory lane for the locals. We had a couple of draft beers and enjoyed taking in the atmosphere. It looks like they have live music at times and a small dance floor.

Sooooo I walked in to have a beer and watch some sports. First off, it smelled horrible. Smelled like someone literally took a piss on the floor. Second off, the bartender is STILL making me wait for my beer that I haven’t even ordered yet because he’s deciding to take shots with other people behind the bar. Im a bartender myself and that is completely unacceptable. He’s drunk and can’t even understand me right now. Mind you I’m literally writing this review while I’m sitting and watching him. 20 minutes to get a PBR on draft. If it wasn’t for me being a bartender he wouldn’t get a tip. Please do something about this. It’s unprofessional and flat out rude. He’s a grown man, not a drunk child. Thanks for making me finally use Unilocal sir. I’ll never come back again.

I like antler’s. I like that I’m saying goodbye to my dumb partying ways. I can appreciate an older, wiser, mature crowd who just wants to drink and bullshit with friends. Vibe is mellow, yet not boring… Just my speed. And, Prime Rib night is something to which I look forward. Yep, mellow yellow is the perfect speed for me. Ahh.

We have stopped in here 2 times because the signs outside promise food not just a bar. Both times we sat at a table and waited. Nobody came to talk to us, there was no indication that we should order at the bar or what. It was like a noisy guessing game! Both times, we walked out without anyone even knowing we had been here. So is there prime rib good? Only the regulars know for sure.

My step mom and I went in for food and a beer. The beer was the only thing decent, sadly. Wanted to like this place so much! The very not so great wings and a quesadilla took almost 40 minutes to come out… and it was slow! The service was mediocre at best, too. Locals clearly got whatever good service the bartender felt like giving, the rest of us had to jump through hoops to get 2 minutes of our bartenders time on a slow afternoon! Too bad!

Mississippi Dave is an excellent Bartender and has some of the best stories, great drinks to accompany them, and always a smile or laugh to top it off. Been here twice, and it feels like home by the time me and my boyfriend leave. Gotta try and make it on Prime Rib day! I’m sure it’ll be great too.

Antlers is a corner tavern in downtown pinole. dropped in to get a beer to clear my mouthful of msg aftertaste from eating Phở nearby Antlers has large area to mingle around. on tap: many buds, apple cider, a few standard micros, 15 in all. brew: drake’s Denog.(5) –thought bottle was stronger. bartender informed me draft beer has .2% more alcohol. on draught: –above average clean bar –didn’t see designer spirtis, micros. –ok pub to grab an average brew, but nothing exceptional –pricing seems reasonable, didn’t inquire about pricing. 3.5 stars

Went here Friday night with a few friends for the first time. The bartender was amazing-super personable and accommodating. I read some other reviews and have no idea what these cranky people are talking about. He was amazing. The live band was playing to the crowd-which was rather on the mid 30 early 40 age. So basically… awesome music. Journey and Beatles… great way to spend a Friday. This place is close by and there’s plenty of parking. Any time I need to chill out this will be my go-to place.

Good spot. Good prices. Good food. Nice bartenders. Weekend nights might be more rowdy?.

I’ve driven by Antlers for over a year and decided to try their food. It’s a cozy looking tavern once you get inside and it looks welcoming, but as other reviewers have noted, the bartender isn’t friendly, and doesn’t make you feel welcomed at all. Usually when you enter a pub, the staff will greet you, instead I got a look as if I was his enemy. Is it because I was a new customer? I sat down for dinner and waited. So I’ve been in the place for ten minutes and no staff has smiled or even said hello to me. I eventually get my own menu from the bar. The waitress was nice when taking my order. Service is slow and there’s no one on the floor to help if you have a question besides the cranky bartender. Food was okay, worth the price. Won’t be returning there again. As other reviewers have stated, Antlers isn’t welcoming to new people, and I guess that’s how they keep out people they don’t want returning. What’s a shame is that I’m a local and the convenience of the spot looked promising. People keep calling this a «local bar» as if it’s on some creepy back road and only locals are allowed in — it’s actually on a main busy street next to shops! There are many other restaurants and local pubs in the area who are super friendly, so I’ll take my money over there.

What are you expecting? A dark tavern like feel with regulars abound, tv’s showing sports, plenty of seating, antlers mounted on the walls? You got it.

This place is great if you’re a local, if not you’re s**t out of luck. I walked in, looked right at the bar tender and when I started to order he turned and walked away. I thought to myself, «maybe he was in the middle of something, he’ll be back»… Nope. I waited 15 minutes while he talked and served the other 10 people in the bar; who were clearly locals. Finally, I got up and walked out. I don’t mind waiting for a drink in a busy bar and I don’t mind not being served but if you don’t want outsiders in your bar, have the balls to say so without wasting my time.

It was used to be very redneck few years back but now it is changed quite a bit. I generally go there to have a drink. Sometimes to dance if they have band. This place is more like a meat market. Lot of young kids, loud, obnoxious.

Against my better judgement I came here again on a Friday night for some drinks. Once again, had a difficult time getting my order in, but once I started drinking I had an overall good time. You have to realize that this is just a neighborhood bar, you’re not coming here to impress anyone or anything, you’re here to drink, relax, and MAYBE have a good time. The bartender, Mississippi Dave, was friendly… he did make my drinks so I’ll count that as being friendly. The bouncer… yep, that’s right… you need a BOUNCER in Pinole, haha… Anyway, the bouncer told my friend and I to try the rootbeer… I don’t know what’s in it but it was surprisingly rootbeer-licious. The crowd is a mix of older folk, young folk, and wannabe«gangstas»… I had a slightly better experience this time so had to give ‘em an extra star.

Love the bartender, why else go to a dive bar? Southern charm goes a long way for us ladies.

Sort of divey and even redneck. On the upside, some good drinks, reasonable prices, and a couple of attentive bartenders. And I do have a certain gratitude to the place for serving as my lifeboat back in 2001 in the interregnum(which I think of as the Dark Ages) between the closing of Tommy’s and the opening of Pear Street Bistro.
