Thursday November 5, 2015. Only thing worse than the food is the lack-of-caring customer service. My BBQ plate was very small portion and somewhat dry. Seems like management does not know how to get the best out of his team. Lots of sad faces. I will not return. Signed, Randy

Compared to the BBQ I had in Austin, Texas, recently, this place is fantastic! Generous portions of flavorful, juicy meat. Maybe because Texas is known for BBQ, the popular places there charge an arm and a leg for tiny portions. When I tried Dickey’s for the first time last week, it was a revelation. Even better than what I’d had in Texas and at fair prices. I love BBQ turkey and chicken, and especially loved how juicy those meats are at Dickey’s. The cole slaw is mild flavored, which I like. And the mac and cheese is ooey, gooey awesome. Not a huge fan of the potato salad, which is kind of runny. I like the thicker stuff. But then to top it all off, free ice cream! What’s not to love? The only thing preventing a 5-star rating is the environment. It’s small and crammed in a tight shopping center. I’d love to see this kind of spot as a larger family-style restaurant.

More accurately 3.5 stars, but no problem rounding to 4. I came in as they opened and wanted a variety of things including chicken. It was explained to me that they had just opened and had no chicken yet. What the heck? Due to dietary issues, some people in the house couldn’t eat their other meats, so I had to have chicken. The pitmaster came out and told me they could have chicken in 45 minutes. After calling home, I opted to order and come back for pickup. I made a large order, and to my surprise, the pitmaster came over and told the cashier to give me the ribs for free, due to the inconvenience. This was much appreciated. As for the food, the meats were very good. Chicken was tender, brisket had the nice smoky flavor(I like my brisket a little better, but it’s way easier than doing it myself). The pulled pork was great.(We made pulled pork quesadillas with the leftover, which were raved over). The ribs fell off the bone when you put a fork to them! The sides were kind of hit and miss… Waffle fries, not so good. Mac and cheese… I dunno, it was scarfed before I could get to it. Beans were ok(may try jalapeño beans next time). I did enjoy the coleslaw, but it’s one of my favorites. The BBQ sauce was good, but I like it a little spicier, personally. We’ll be back. This visit wasn’t without flaws, but we appreciated the efforts to keep us happy.(I see other reviews complaining of service, maybe this means Unilocal reviews are being read and acted upon)
I came in at 5:00 pm restaurant was out of bread for sandwiches, and out of sausage for their daily special. What is going on here?
