Great dark roast coffee and the food was fresh and quick. Comfortable place to sip coffee and catch up on the news before heading out for the day. Friendly polite staff and the breakfast burrito is on point! Coming from the east coast it was great that they open at 6am.

I’ve definitely had better. Tried their iced mexican mocha, which I couldn’t take more than two sips of. The flavor was too strong and sweet. Even after mixing it several times, there were huge grainy bits of sugar or cinnamon, not sure what it was exactly, but it gave the coffee a rough texture going down my throat. I didn’t really like that about it. Their bathrooms were located on the sides on the little coffee shop outside. The key was hung on the wall. Wouldn’t exactly come by here again since it was just alright. Only chose to try it due to its proximity and convenience to where we were having lunch… aka Cracked Crab next door.

Best breakfast burrito ever. Really. Quick too. I’m supposed to write more says Unilocal. Not sure why. Do we find being succinct anathema? There’s a word I haven’t used in ages. Weather is nice. Rained last night it’s sunny now. Just a bit chilly but nice in the sun. Ok let’s give this another go.

Went here this morning since I read the reviews and it was the worst coffee ever. I had a cappuccino and my husband had a vanilla latte. They both taste like flavored water and very watered down tossed both in the trash and left. Won’t be back… Plus the place was a little dirty inside and out.

BEST coffee around! For all of you coffee snobs out there, you need to come here. The owner knows his coffee. Smooth, rich without any bitterness. A small quaint place right on the main drag with few food offerings but there are muffins, bagels and a breakfast burrito.

If you like a strong, well balanced, non acidic, smooth cup of coffee– this is the place!(Light, medium, & dark roast available) If you like home grown customer service with kicked back atmosphere, this is the place… Best coffee I’ve had outside my hometown local roaster… If you like more bite, less flavor but knowing what to expect, as found at the big green shops this coffee is not for you.

I really like The Central Roast! The baristas are very friendly and knowledgeable. My first visit, I asked about local grocery stores. Living in a beach town has its limitations… They have three selections of drip coffee as well as a good selection of teas and the usual fru-fru coffee drinks. A selection of pastries and hot breakfast items is also available. The customers are open to conversation and it’s nice to be able to get some good tips from the locals. The indoor seating area has a variety of styles of seating, from high tables to a sofa and cushy armchairs. The shop provides several copies of the San Luis Obispo newspaper for reading. There is also outside seating with umbrellas on tables for shade on those sunny mornings. Free Wi-Fi is also available

Nice little quaint place near downtown Pismo Beach(walking distance). There is ample parking but can get filled up in the summer months(common for the area). I had the«Fog Raiser» which is a darker blend but with higher caffeine level(usually it’s the lighter blends that’s higher in caffeine). Probably one of the better cups of coffee I’ve had in a while. My wife had the latte which she really liked and said it was better than most latte’s that she ha had. The workers are friendly who greeted us with a smile and engaged in small talk which personally I appreciate. We also went to Steaming Bean a couple of days earlier and this place is much better in taste and atmosphere. This will be added to our«regular» places to visit whenever we’re in the Pismo area.

When we were here last May 2014′ this place had great service, great scones. Today, everything about the place has changed. No greeting, not a very friendly server. I asked for one of their awesome scones and her reply was” we don’t have any right now, mind you this was 6:45 in the morning! Okay, so how about tomorrow? «I don’t know when we will get anymore in.» Wow, I do have to say the coffee was good though that’s about it.

This is a really great little place to grab a coffee in the morning and sit out front reading a book. The coffee is nothing fancy, they just hand you a cup and have you pump it yourself, but it tasted fresh and was overall pleasant. They have plenty of space out front to sit, and it’s beautifully warm sitting there in the sun in the morning. The chairs are pretty comfy. The place seems to have a friendly atmosphere, usually a dog or two, and strangers occasionally chatting with each other.

Stopped in for what was supposed to be a quick cup of coffee and a hot chocolate. 20 minutes waiting is definitely unacceptable. One person on the register is the same person making the drinks. The hot chocolate was terrible and the coffee mediocre at best. Literally she made one drink at a time, walked it over to another counter and waited for the person who ordered the drink to come pick it up. You try to support a local business because you’re sick of Starbucks and coffee bean and you get disappointed in a big way… bummer

The food is really good. They also serve locally roasted coffee. The service can’t be beat. I wanted a slight adjustment to my order after I received it. The owner personally helped me with my order. This is a must when your in downtown Pismo.

I would say this is an average coffee shop. The sandwich I had was excellent. But the coffee, the namesake of the business, was disappointingly average. I ordered an iced Americano. It had way too much water added and, despite me asking for room, it was filled to the brim. Also, lots of little flies buzzing us in the inside dining area.

A solid café and place to stop by if you are visiting Pismo Beach. Very friendly to tourists! They serve some alcohol-based coffee and tea drinks. I had the rum chai, which was only $ 5 for a small. I absolutely liked it and recommend that if they serve that day. All their alcohol-based drinks must be drunk at the joint, and can’t be ordered to go! :(

Cute little place. I ran in for a breakfast sandwich but they put their own little«spin» on it that made things a little confusing. They offer a meat and cheese or an egg and cheese. I wanted ham, cheese, AND egg and I eventually got it. They also warned me that it came with«tomato sauce.» WHAT? No thanks! Now, if this is some magically delicious homemade concoction that I had to taste to believe, that wasn’t communicated to me. If it’s just tomato sauce, that’s kind of weird for a breakfast sandwich. The ham was delicious and high quality Black Forest-style but I wished they hadn’t nuked the croissant. The bread got all steamy, squashy, and greasy. Still, the cheese was great and the sandwich hit the spot. See photo. I’ll be back for other items.
