Really good Mexican food for Pittsboro! An extensive menu and we have always been satisfied with our food.

We have lived in the PBO area for the last ten years. This place has NEVER let us down. Take out is ASGOODAS eating in. The people always smile. It’s the same crew and I feel like the genuinely appreciate our business. And the FOOD? DELICIOUS!

Excellent Mexican cuisine for central North Carolina standards. Very good price & always fresh, flavorful ingredients used. Quick service, with very personable servers.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant by far. I go here probably once a week for a good reason. The food is not overly spicy like many Mexican restaurants. I do think the food is better on weekdays at lunchtime for some reason.

My wife and I stopped by here on the way home to Fayetteville from Jordan Lake. We weren’t expecting much. It was a Mexican restaurant in a small strip, but we were hungry and Mexican is usually a pretty safe bet. We went in and were told to seat ourselves. Our waiter promptly came over to deliver salsa and chips and took our drink order, water and margaritas. The margaritas were good, but not made to order. The salsa was great, fresh with distinctive hints of cilantro When the waiter came to take our order, I asked him what the house specials were. He pointed out some items that were go-to american palate types, likely popular dishes but not terribly exciting. I was hoping he would point me to something special to the house, but I don’t think he picked up on my adventurous appetite. I ignored his advice and selected the enchiladas suizas with a chile relleno pablano on the side. In my opinion, the chille relleno is the go-to dish to judge a Mexican restaurant. My wife had her usual chicken quesadilla. The enchiladas were presented beautifully. Presentation isn’t something I usually think about at this type of restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised. The tomatillo salsa was bright and fresh with lots of flavor. The tender meats inside were seasoned very well. It came with a side of beans, salad, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream. They also used a variety of lettuce, not just the iceberg type most places serve. Overall that dish was great. Probably the best enchiladas suizas I have had. The real treat was the chille relleno. It was battered and fried beautifully, topped with a homemade mole. That mole. I’m still thinking about it, trying to pick it apart. It was incredibly complex. At times it almost had hints of asian influence. There is a definite taste of sesame in there, but the owner wouldn’t give up any secrets. I asked if there was sesame seeds/oil in the mole, but he just smiled and said, «We use a lot of ingredients in our mole.» It was delicious. We are happy to have stumbled onto this place. We will definitely be stopping by again.

Service was absolutely horrible. Waiter was rude and didn’t refill our drinks once. Food was bad quality, too. Don’t eat here!

Food and service was great. Chori queso seemed a bit more like hamburger meat, rather than chorizo. But the arroz con pollo was on point, and very reasonably priced.

This place is decent, but not the greatest Mexican food I’ve had. Many times the food will come out far more greasy than it should. On the other hand though, I think it has improved the last couple I have been here. My kid loves their mac and cheese(they put queso in it). Could use some improvement but not bad. Some more authentic dishes would be nice.

For the price of the food, it was great! You won’t expect fantastic food, but that’s what you’re paying for! Their meat(chicken, beef, shrimp, etc.) is salty and very flavorful. I love their rice. For a cheap Mexican dish, San Felipe can give it to you.

I have to admit that I’m a fan of this place, although it’s the standard McMexican fare. I’m addicted to the queso, and they will actually serve you more traditional mexican food if you request it. The Horchata is pretty darn good. GolTV is always on if you want to catch a football match.

OK, usually this place is pretty good and I have enjoyed the times I was there. With that said. I’ve always ordered the same thing. shrimp & chicken fajitas. So tonight I decided on the t-bone steak with shrimp and rice. NO! The rice & shrimp were fine, but the hulk size piece of steak was terrible!!! I couldn’t tell if the cow was already a leather jacket before someone decided to cook it. Maybe tonight was just a miss, will I go back? Probably, but I’ll stick to my usual.

No other casual Mexican joint holds a candle to this one. I have lived in Pittsboro for over 8 years and eat here once every week to ten days. Love it. Great service. Great food.

My boyfriend and I have eaten at San Felipe at least three times since moving to Pittsboro and it is fantastic! We were worried that we wouldn’t be able to find authentic Mexican food in NC, but San Felipe proved us wrong. They have genuine Mexican food that is delicious, and served up quickly. I do have to say that some meals lack a little flair and spice, but overall I thoroughly enjoy eating there! Its worth noting that they are very reasonably priced as well.
