Skyflys Guns by Gals is NOT a women’s gym. I thought it was from the«Guns» and«Gals» in the name, but as the sign on the door says, «Yes, we are really a gun store.» First of all, the décor of this store is awesome. I’ve been to gun shops where it is essentially a warehouse with some glass cases. I’ve been to gun shops where it’s a locked cage with guns just stacked loose on counters, boxes, the floor, any flat surface. Skyflys leaves them all in the dust, If I may belabor a stereotype, being woman owned appears to be a huge benefit as far as store layout goes. You’ll find handguns clearly marked and elegantly displayed in high quality and sparkling display cases. The guns are laid out on velvet backing with little trinkets and jewelry mixed in. It’s as though you were shopping for a gun at your aunt’s house. The right side of the store has more of the«Gal» stuff, I think is the layout plan. Porcelain dolls, antique furniture, jewelry, handcrafted art, what have you. It’s very well set up, looks attractive from the street, and is very clean and organized. You can tell the location used to be a bank: it’s all clear and clean and well lit, and they have a drive through window. Guns and ammo are of course plentiful(you can get the ammo via the drive through if you want). They also have a variety of holsters in a variety of make and model, including, awesomely, lacy garter holsters, if you are shopping for a holster and are also a dealer or waitress on a riverboat. The staff of the store are truly a credit to it, as well. I’ve only met two folks who work there, presumably the owner(a lady) and the manager(a man) but I didn’t ask for job titles. She has a background teaching firearm courses to police departments in Tennessee, and he… he just looks like he knows his way around a firearm, IFYOUKNOWWHAT I MEAN. We’ve not actually bought anything yet but I love the store and the staff are great. They teach full licensed Concealed Carry classes, which at the time of this writing involves evening classes Thursday and Friday with a range test on Saturday. Be sure to mention if you are a veteran for a surprisingly deep discount on the CCW class. An excellent business and a welcome addition to Pittsboro. It’s surprising to find a gun shop in the center of this little hippie town, particularly beside a Food Lion, but here’s hoping they’ll be a permanent addition.
