I’ll be honest, I tried Little J’s about 2 years ago, after passing it for a few years before that – since I literally live around the corner, but always kept driving because the storefront/location is not that appealing. And our meals were not the ‘best barbeque’ we’ve ever had, so chalked it up to just not my taste. But I kept hearing about how great the food is, and the owner, is very visible in the local community, sponsoring youth sports teams, so tonight, I gave them another shot. I went in and got a friendly greeting and asked to order, but since it’d been so long, I said, ‘never been here, let me look’. The guy behind the counter said sure thing, let me walk you through the menu. I reviewed my options and went with his recommendation of the Sourdough Burger. He suggested adding mayo and I also got an order of onion rings. He was pleased with my choices, said ‘we’ll take good care of you’. While I waited for my meal to be cooked, he greeted new customers, and thanked those as the finished their meal. As he handed me my order, he asked if I wanted any sauces, and I said, «Do I?» and he gave me bbq, ranch and something like thousand island only better! He said it’s the dipping sauce for their fries. I asked his name and he said ‘Aaron’, and he was the owner. Told me the place was named after his son or grandson? I left feeling like I was leaving a true neighborhood place! I went home(the rings barely lasted the short drive), but I was able to have a few with my burger, and it was fantastic. So glad I went back. This place is on my list of go-to places for a fast, delicious homemade burger/bbq fix. Thanks!

The burgers are great and you get a pretty good portion for your money! You should call ahead and order because depending on the time you go the wait can be extremely long.

This is one of the best restaurants in the Pittsburgh area. They have a reasonably priced menu with terrific food, and kind customer service. I always go for take out and am pleased every time. I suggest almost their entire menu. They have great burgers and sandwiches. The Tri tip is some of the best in the region, and I’m particularly partial to their chicken. I definitely suggest this place

Had the cajun chicken basket. A little pricey at $ 11.63 but the sourdough roll and french fries were really good. Basket included a 20 oz soda. It had just the right amount of mayo and the stream of people coming in was reassuring.

I LOOOOOVE this place! I used to work here in Pittsburg and my old co-workers and I used to eat it all the time. I just started working here back in Pittsburg after a year and OMG I am so happy I got it! I forgot how DELICIOUS the burgers were! Cooked perfectly! The fries were fresh and crispy just like I like them and the gentleman working the front counter was such a sweetheart! I would eat here everyday if I could! Best burger in the area for SURE!

So I ordered the shrimp, fish, and chips combo with garlic fries as my sides. Mmm yummy right? NO! I was charged a little over $ 11 bucks for 2 battered pieces of fish that tasted EXACTLY like caption John’s fish from the frozen food ailse at the store, with store brought butterfly shrimp, and fries topped with NOTFRESH, BUTJARRED tangy minced garlic. Like are you FREAKINGKIDDINGME? Furthermore, my advice is to save yourself some cash, go to the store and purchase your own frozen foods to pop in the oven and you’ll get more for your dollars.

«The Best Tri Tip Sandwinch in Town» That is the motto they stand on and are happy to agree with if you ask any of the employees and the owner Aaron himself. But is it the truth, the whole truth and nothing but… The Truth? Well all I have to say is read this review. 4÷20÷2016 And no, I didn’t have the munchies considering the«day» that I visited. But, I was still indeed recovering from the«epic» night I had the night before on my birthday. I was still on vacation and I was sure that I had more party in my system. I needed fuel to keep me going and what better way than to go and get one of these.“Best Tri Tip” sandwinches and enjoy my time off. I had been to Little J’s a few times before and met the owner Aaron @ my job back in 2013 when he came in to buy some supplies. Of course if I was« Unilocaling» then I would propabubly have a crap ton more pics and such to post but, now is better than never right? Little J’s is one of the few small businesses that deserve to be in the spotlight. Little J’s gives back to the community, and from the decorations, support«Pittsburg High School» to the fullest degree. Little J’s is real a real true to nature«Burger Joint» of sorts, although they have much more to offer. They have something for everyone’s taste here, and even options for the kiddos and those of you that decide that you don’t want to eat anything that once was living. yes i’m talking about you plant and veggie killers out there ;D On this visit I wanted to really treat myself, it was my birthday week and a regular or double burger wasn’t going to suffice. «The Best Tri Tip in Town» was what I had my sites set on, and in sandwinch form is how I wanted it! So, after taking a few snapshots and getting in the line, I placed my order, the«Tri Tip’ sandwinch $ 10.65, with onion rings and a drink which came to a total of $ 11.82 with the tax and I got to «Fry Sauces» to dip my onion rings in $.50 each. I got my sandwinch pretty simple, tomatoes, a little mayo, and added BBQ Sauce. The sandwinch was pretty well balanced and«The Bomb!» The Tri Tip was cooked a perfect medium well, it was tender and held up in the sandwinch. Nothing like eating a meat sandwinch and you take a bite and then you end up pulling all the meat out in one bite. Was this the best«Tri Tip» sandwinch I ever had… Yes! and kudos to Aaron and the staff for staying true to their word. I’ve had«Tri Tip» sandwinches at other similar joints before and this one takes the«Best» title forsure in my book. The onion rings were a nice support, not over the top by any means though. They were hot, crispy and had a nice flavor and with the fry sauce it amplified the taste. I really recommend getting the fry sauce for dipping, it’s the bomb! Will I go back? Yes, and in fact as I write this review and look at my pics… i’m getting hungry, the food is worth the hype and the good reviews from me and my fellow Unilocalers should be proof that this place is pretty legit.2 Legit too Quit! In Conclusion, if in or around Pittsburg, you’ve got to stop in here and get something. Not only will you be partaking in great food, but you would be supporting a small business. Little J’s has a lot of character, and it’s refreshing that they’re bringing a whole new vibe to this side of the east bay area where the food scene is kinda… repetitive. As always Unilocal your own experience if or when you visit, and don’t forget the fry sauce!

Their burger and fries combo is excellent. Gotta love a burger from these smaller places they are few and far between but way better when you are just looking for a good burger fast for lunch without going to a fast food joint. Next time i’m definitely going to try the Tri-Tip sandwich, it was a tough decision!

Well al’righty then. This places Tri-tip sandwich is good enough to make you punch your best friend and ask them, why haven’t they told you about this place before now. And don’t ever care that it’s their first time being there too. Sandwich bread is nice and soft. Meat has a flavor you taste in every single bite. The French fries have a variety of toppings where you can’t go wrong no matter what you put on them. I will be coming back again and again.

Went there for the first time. The place was lit. The fries were bomb. Everything from the fry boy Daniel(special shout out to him for frying the fries with passion, I could definitely taste it) and the tables to chairs set a welcoming vibe. I felt at home. I would definitely go there again. I would go there for Daniel, especially. That place truly is magical, enchanting and alluring at most. Those burgers, and those fries caressed by the fry boy captivate every of my senses. His eyes hiding behind those lenses reflect the sizzling oil that he maneuvers with dexterity, which simultaneously represents his burning, yet delicate amiable personality. Oh, and the place was okay by the way.

This is the place for red meat! Tri tip or burgers are the go to, but their chicken is also great. This place is an institution in Pittsburg and has a long standing relationship with the Pittsburg community. Prices are great, service is always friendly and quick. The only downside is seating. The restaurant is tiny with only a few tables so it can be tricky during a rush, but not so bad that i would opt to eat somewhere else.

I always look forward to the one day a week I am in Pittsburg when I can go to Little J’s. I’m a huge fan of their Tri-tip sandwich with horseradish. Comes with fries and a drink, making it the perfect sized lunch for me. The owner is always there and is very involved, and the staff is super friendly and always asks how everything was and is always very helpful. They’ve got a TV with NFL network playing all the time, which gives me a chance to get the highlights from the weekend’s big games. Highly recommended!

A Pittsburg institution with the best tri-tip sandwiches around these parts. I like mine with horseradish but you also have the option of BBQ sauce or the just the lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise served in a soft roll. Unfortunately, you can only order it in a basket(fries & a soft drink) so the price goes up a bit. Fortunately, the fries are great. The cooks here have perfected the fryer. Whether its the fries, onion rings or the fish, they are cooked crispy without a drop of discernible oil left on them. The fish sandwich served with tartar sauce on the same soft roll is pretty good too. Hamburgers are really good. You have a choice of a quarter pounder, third-pounder or two-quarter pounders in your burger. The latter is a mean-lover’s delight -.a whole half pound of ground beef. Little J’s is a favorite with the cops. You’ll often see a couple of police cars parked outside around lunch or dinner time. That’s an endorsement of sorts. What Little J’s does really well is a BBQ catering service. They have a portable smoker and grill that they can haul to your party and cook on site. Unfortunately, none of the BBQ items, tri-tip, ribs, chicken, beans, etc. are on the regular menu. If you’re planning a party, ask for details.

I have driven past this place for YEARS until my dad kept pressuring me to go. We finally went and I was blown away by this place! The burger was phenomenal! Cheesy, beefy, bacon goodness! Service was great. The girl behind the counter helped us choose and told us the 4 cheese burger was the most popular, so of course we got it and added bacon. Fries were perfectly crispy and they gave us their special sauce for free. I wasn’t a fan of the cheese sauce that we ordered on the side though… really bland. But the BURGER is great! I can’t wait to go back.
