very rude and inefficient. Checked Unilocal and filtered for places that were opened, samurai x came up and close to home. Perfect for a lazy Sunday. I finally decided what i wanted and called at 2:45, the man who answered seemed upset and he told me that they are closed and open at 3:00. To call back to place my order to go. I had a big order, glad i didn’t spend all that money!!!

The sushi is the best around and the prices are amazing. My daughter and I go here often. WE adore the waiter who can be a little dry until you get to know him-He’s Great. We always have great service and the selection is unbelievable. So many fresh delicious choices.

One of my favorite sushi spots in the Pittsburg/Antioch area for sure. The sushi taste great and the service isn’t bad. I usually get the Eagle Eyes and the Freeway. They give you a lot of wasabi and ginger which is always a plus because sometimes restaurants give this little teaspoon of both. I’ll be getting my sushi here whenever I’m in the area.

One of the best. No actually the best sushi spot in the Pittsburg/Bay Point area hands down. This is definitely my BF’s and I’s go-to spot whenever were near home or want to fulfill our sushi craving. I always want to go here whenever I’m in town! You get good portions of food/rolls for the price, generally around $ 7+. Alot of places in Concord are priced a bit higher and they come with smaller portions. At Samurai X the portions are huge! Their appetizers such as the tempura veggies and shrimp are delicious and my BF always orders their chicken teriyaki plate. Sushi is great too! They have this green mint colored sauce Ive never seen at other places and it adds a nice spice to the sushi(maybe it’s creamy wasabi?) Service is always fast, constantly asking our table if we need anything else and very professional and welcoming which is a great plus. Giving four stars as it is not the best place in the East Bay Area but definitely comes in second or third and is great for the Pittsburg area.

Tasty rolls, fresh ingredients, in the hood next to Walmart in tha Pitts, prices are really good. I would not bring a first date here due the atmosphere being a bit drab, but for a quick, tasty economical Japanese meal, this place is pretty good. Service is super fast. I saw some of the other reviews that mentioned the«rude» guy. I’m not really sure what kind of fluff these folks are looking for, especially in the tha Pitts. In all honesty, the guy is fine and the food, at least the food I ate there today, is great.

This place is okay. Quality isn’t a huge thing here. I got the cherry blossom and the beef Ramen. The Cherry Blossom wasn’t flavorful as it is anywhere else. The ramen was a joke. It had little overlooked cubes of beef in it and the broth was too spicy without having any flavor other than salt. It might have been instant Ramen.

The staff is very nice, but it’s not a very exciting or overly interesting place. The seating is decent with plenty of televisions and it seems that they are college and pro basketball fans as that seems to always be on. There is not very good wheelchair access and it doesn’t appear to be overly accommodating for much service to the disabled. I also have noticed they have strange hours closing for a few hours in the afternoons and I have encountered a sign on the door on numerous visits stating that they would be open in an hour or two usually around 5 pm. They also close very promptly at 9 pm and are not accommodating for later Dinner service even on the weekends. I am a sushi lover and somewhat spoiled over the years and this seems to be more of a middle of the road«Ma & Pa» Family place. Although I have never had what I would consider a bad experience there, I have been turned away when I attempted to place a phone order at 8:30 pm and at least twice when I arrived at approximately 8:45 pm despite the fact that I have eaten here or placed to go orders 30 – 40 times. I wouldn’t «beat the door down to get in there,‘but unfortunately because of a very busy schedule and limited options they are really convenient to my location. They are priced slightly higher than comparable places in Antioch but on a regular basis I’m not willing to spend 45 minutes in Hwy 4 traffic to drive 5 miles. I often order their«Rainbow» which is approx 8 pieces of decent grade and fairly fresh variety of Sushimi. It contains he usual Tuna, Yellow Fin, Salmon, Shrimp etc and costs about $ 12.00 out the door. Comparing to a place at Hillcrest Ave and Hwy 4 where they serve 2 – 3 more pieces plus Miso on their lunch menu for about $ 8.95 +tax. If your a freak for good Wasabi you might be disappointed here as its more of what I would call a «Korean style» Wasabi and its usually more of a runny consistency and not like the typical fresh«PlayDough» consistency. I will probably continue to eat there occasionally unless a new place pops up in the immediate area. I want to give them more chances but hey could use some improvement and possibly try to become more oriented to the customers and not their school schedule or Family time. Some more front line customer interaction and enthusiasm would also be nice. For now I would give them a 6.5 out of 10 but hopefully they will improve as the younger staff evolves and gains experience.

RUDE!!! First time I came a few weeks ago the young Asian man was rude during ordering! I chalked it up to a bad day and tried it again today… It was raining and I had my wife and baby in the car… I tried to borrow a menu so my baby wouldn’t have to be exposed to the rain… Make a long story short after I explained my situation he said«I don’t care, park, I don’t lend menus for take out.» So never again!

The first time I ate here, I tried their beef teriyaki and tempura bento box combo. It was pretty good. The only thing was my beef teriyaki was drenched with the sauce but it’s okay. The waitor who helped me had a somewhat dry sense of humor, which I didn’t mind. He was very informative, attentive, and would ask if I needed anything. During my second here, my friends and I ordered the lion king, fire attack, dragon, samurai, and bodega bay sushi rolls. All of them tasted delicious. The portions were a decent size for one person. The waitor who helped us was the same person from last time. While ordering a sushi roll, the waitor mentioned that a roll we were interested in was raw sushi. I didn’t look at the menu carefully, but it’d be nice to have it labeled which are raw and cooked. Overall, I enjoyed the food here and the service was good. It’s a good place during lunch time to come have a quick Japanese cuisine fix.

Two stars only because the food was great(past experience). But right now, I Just walked in to place an order to go, and was told that they were closed, and re-open at 4pm. The store says 11am-8pm. I understand most sushi places close for a lunch hour. But it was not even 3pm yet and I couldn’t get an order to go. Disappointing, and loss of money for them, considering I was just about to order many rolls. Well, time to call the next closest place to feed my sushi craving.

Came here on a whim at 8pm on a Friday. Once we walked in the door at 810, we were told we were the last customers. The restaurant was more than half full, and the staff told us they were literally out of many ingredients which is why they were closing early. Unfortunately we did feel a bit rushed — we let our waiter know it was our first time and he came back to us after about 3min, apologized, and asked for our order given the hour. Their menu says they close at 930 and the door/online says 9, so when we arrived at 810, we weren’t expected to be rushed. The waiter suggested we come back during the week when it was less busy, but we had already been seated and wanted to eat, so we stayed. I ordered the two rolls and received a free salad which was nice. My first roll was the CAA Roll(fried asparagus, avocado, cucumber) for about $ 6 which was amazing — I loved it! And a Bay Island Roll(California roll with spicy baked scallops on top for about $ 10). I really enjoyed the CAA roll and wish I had ordered two of them, but I was not a fan of the Bay Island roll. Not sure what it was about this roll, but the taste was just not there for me. I love that this is a small, local sushi place for me, their prices are affordable and I’ve found a roll I love here. I didn’t like their adjusted hours which made us feel rushed but things happen, and I didn’t like one of my rolls.

There are plenty of sushi/rills for you to choose from. My boyfriend and I are always here to the point that the owner knows what we want(we usually get the same thing). Its cheap and its good. You guys must try this place.

Review is based on service: I came to eat dinner with family after a long shift at work. I was hoping not to eat a large portion because I had to sleep within a few hours. I asked to order a kids beef teriyaki dinner(soup, salad, beef, rice) but the waitress looked at me and said«its only for under 12yrs old» … which, might i add, is not indicated on the menu. I proceeded to tell her that I wanted the kid portion because I couldn’t eat a normal adult portion. She then points out that there is an appetizer chicken skewer. 1st i wanted beef not chicken 2nd it didn’t come with the small soup and salad that I wanted… Even being a smaller size I understand that at buffets its based on age, but if one person in the party of 4 would like the kids meal you should allow it. This place needs better service. I should have called for a manager but I was too tired. Ended up sharing with another person I was with… Smh not racing to come back here.

I wish I lived in Pittsburg for this sushi place alone. Traveling for work and found them on Unilocal.Have been coming here for lunch dinner and every chance I could! Their lunch bento box deal is incredible! From 11am to 3pm Only $ 7.95 for miso, salad, rice and your choice of 2 sides. My favorite is the salmon teriyaki and salmon sashimi, although I did try the salmon sashimi and salmon roll and that one was very tasty as well. Price changes to 9.95 for the bento box for dinner time, but still well worth it! The waiter also remembered my drink by the second time I came here. Quick friendly professional service. I wish I can eat here everyday for the rest of my life, but since I live a few hours away, that would be a bit of a challenge. I’ll definitely be here Everytime I’m in town!

A hidden jem nestled not in San Francisco, Berkeley or San Jose, but in Pittsburg. This is now my go to spot and its very close to where I live. The food is fresh and made to order and the ending result is dynamite! I ordered one sushi roll being it my first time there. The roll here at Samurai X was called the«Yellow Stone» @ a whopping $ 7.95 which is a tempura fried roll with Crab, Avocado and Cream Cheese…“Yummy” and I forgot to mention the sweet and spicy sauce drizzled across was pretty good too. The price for the same roll«Different roll name» at another establishment I like is 3 dollers more. The prices are low here and I look forward trying more on the menu. They have other menu items outside the sushi rolls as well, assorted ramens, bento boxes, appetizers, korean specialties, Donburi just to name a few. So I end this review saying in the words of Chairmen Kaga of Iron Chef… A La Cuisine!

I love this place. It’s not too fancy or too expensive. They have photos of each roll so you know what to expect. The rolls are so delicious and the customer service is great. The establishment is a bit of a hole in the wall considering its in the hood of Pittsburg lol. I eat here at lest 2x a month.
