Weiss’ is superb! The meat is better quality than anything you can get at the grocery store, and the prices are much better. Feel like you’re getting away with something! The butchers are friendly and knowledgable, and have given me great advice from how to grill perfect steaks to what meats to put in the chili to win the cook off. All other butchers pale in comparison. I recommend them to everyone!

Weiss is one of the best butcher shops in Pittsburgh. They offer a variety of meats and chicken. The prices beat anyone else’s hands down. All of the guys who work there are very nice. You can ask any question and they always have great suggestions. We have been using them for years.

Great place. Busy, even on a Monday morning. Everyone was super friendly. First impression I got was how clean it was, no funky smell or questionable dirt. Quality of the meat was great, can get steaks cut however you want. Better and cheaper than the grocery store!

I have always heard of this place, and since we moved close by it was time to try it out. Decided to go in and get some stuff for fathers day. Felt like a noob when i went in but took my ticket and waited my turn. Watching everyone order and how quickly they got what they needed was impressive! No fuss and they are willing to do what you need. The employees were all very personable to the customers! When it was my turn, i ordered 5lb of ground chuck and 4 lb of kielbasa.(small order, i know) all for a great price and quick packing! Cooked up the burgers and kielbasa and they were amazing! So fresh and tasty! We will no longer by our meats from the grocery store. Weiss Meats all the way!

A carnivore’s delight! I’ve never gone to a butcher to get my grillin’ meats before. Usually I’d hit up the local grocery store, grab something from the meat section, and fire up the propane. But the BF informed me about his local butcher shop. Typically he and his family pre-order steaks, burgers, sausage, pork chop, and other various yummines for the month from Weiss. This month he made a quick trip to see the specials and I decided to go along… my world has been forever changed. HOLYMEAT, Batman! Pick out a cut, they’ll slice it up for you. And no, there’s no cows hanging from the ceiling or anything. Nothing resembling an animal… just the tasty protein they provide. If you have a big order, they recommend calling and pre-ordering. If you’re just looking to check things out and pick up a few steaks, they offer that option too. They operate with the ticket system– Grab one and wait for your number to be called. During the weekends it can get pretty busy, but if you pre-order, you can typically walk in, grab your pre-order ticket(yes they operate on different numbers) and get out quickly. When you see a busy butcher shop, you know they’re doing something right. Did I mention that they’re cheaper than your local grocery store? Yeah… there’s that perk too. If you love a juicy steak, a sizzling burger, succulent sausage, crispy chicken wing, or whatever makes your tummy rumble, check out Weiss Meats and get your grill on.

This place is awesome. Old time butchers and great deals on excellent products. Just make sure you go during the week because on Saturday you will have a very long wait.

In 1948, Weiss Meats opened its doors and since then has been tacitly purveying fine meats to restaurants and the general public from their modest Pleasant Hills storefront with utmost professionalism and attention to quality. This evening, at my parent’s home, I had the most exquisite prime-rib I’ve ever sunk my canines into. Luscious, flavorful, falling apart, it made our Christmas Eve dinner quite memorable, and there’s still a bit left. Stop by! I kid the freeloaders. Also worth mentioning is their ground chuck(ground to order and $ 1.50 cheaper per pound than area supermarkets), baked ham, hickory-smoked bacon, fantastic Italian sausage, and ham salad, all of it prepared in-house from scratch. Free parking is in abundance as well. With local butchers currently en vogue in the en vogue ad nauseum East End, it’s interesting how Weiss Meats has been selling their own fresh meats in this seldom-discussed suburb for 64 years on, well before someone in their 20’s wearing a beret, tight clothes, and a handlebar moustache decided it was fashionable. Come ye carnivores.
