Holiday Inn Express Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

The location was super confusing, don’t attempt your GPS. I called ahead, and they gave me directions led me right to the hotel.
The hotel itself was outdated and def could use some work. The room was fine, with the standard amenities that is offered bu Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast area was in the lobby, a cramped area, but the breakfast was delicious. They also have cookies and popcorn machine in the afternoon.
The biggest disappointment was the «fitness room». The bike’s display didn’t allow me to change anything, the buttons were broken. One treadmill was completely broken, the other made a weird whiny noise, and the elliptical made such a loud, constant noise, I was scared to be on it. Plus, all the machines look like they were from the 70’s. I couldn’t run outside, because, the location is basically at the airport, and there was no where to run to.
Despite needing upgrades, every employee was friendly and welcoming. They basically made the place. And my teenage son, said the breakfast attendant was his favorite, since she made sure he had every item he wanted for breakfast.

Clean, spacious bathroom, newer furniture, flat screen TV, friendly staff, and plenty of easily accessible parking. I would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if using the airport, a shuttle is provided. The bed was firm, but with enough give to be comfortable and it had several great pillow options.

wanted to charge the extra night even if I did’nt stay the front desk made sure this did not happen, they helped me cancell and optain a full refund then just rebooked me for the one night i stayed. The staff was great and made every moment pleasurable. THANKS HOLIDAY INN STAFF.

I would so give 5 stars for the wonderfully helpful and friendly staff here! However, the hard bed and mildew (vinegar or pickles) smell was hard to deal with!
They did their very best to make things as wonderful as could be — but they told us that all their beds were the same! So, no bed is soft!
If you like rock hard beds — this is the place for you! If not — keep searching! If it doesn’t matter… You couldn’t ask for a more friendly and helpful staff!

Clean, friendly staff, decent room, convenient location with a good bar and restaurant across the lot makes for a great place to sleep.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn in Avoca because it’s next door to my project and I figured I’d give it a shot.
The hotel is pretty new and the rooms are on the larger side and are very well furnished. The King room I had came with a mini-​fridge and microwave a plus for a standard room. The rooms were also very clean.
On the downside the ceiling in the bathroom had a drop ceiling. The grid was starting to rust, most likely from the steam from the shower. The other problem was that the tile was probably absorbing some of the moisture and the bathroom had a slight musty mildew smell.
I’d stay at this Holiday Inn Express again but only if the Courtyard and Hampton Inn one exit North in Moosic were booked.
