A couple of months back, my wife and I took the family to Fish In a Bottle, a restaurant we had not been to in some time. My daughter has a peanut allergy, so we are very careful of the items we order off the menu. We simply do not order any items which contain peanuts. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer. The calamari was pretty good, except for the fact the breading flaked off the calamari. The bigger issue was that once we almost finished the calamari, we then noticed the calamari was served on a bed of slaw style cabbage with an Asian dressing and PEANUTS sprinkled throughout. The peanuts were not described on the menu. My daughter had an immediate reaction, with her lips and tongue swelling up. My wife complained to management, and the manager was extremely apologetic and seemed to understand that persons with peanut allergies could be harmed by the kitchen staff’s placement of peanuts in a menu item that is supposedly peanut free. The manager was so apologetic and said she would make sure the cooks and staff knew that peanuts should not be included if it is not disclosed on the menu. She gave us a gift card to come back. Well, we went back yesterday, and ordered the tempera shrimp, another menu item that did not disclose it was prepared with peanuts. The tempura shrimp arrived at the table… on a bed of slaw style cabbage with Asian dressing and … PEANUTS!!! The food at this restaurant is pretty good, but if you are allergic to peanuts, or have a family member allergic to peanuts, I would stay away from this restaurant. It’s just not worth the risk, and management does not seem to care or have the ability to serve food as described in their menu.

I’ve been going to «Fish in a Bottle» for 8 years. It is definitely a place that’s there to stay. I’ve taken many friends there and they were never disappointed by their amazing rolls. I’m a sashimi fan. It’s fresh! The atmosphere is so pleasant both indoors and especially outdoors in their lovely decorated patio. Very cozy! Service is excellent.

Amazing! This place is awesome. We didn’t expect much, we were just killing an hour. The service was great, Stella was super attentive and helpful in making suggestions. She knew the menu very well and didn’t mind us making special requests. The menu is incredibly creative… It was just awesome. Food was delicious. When I as eating I thought to myself… «This is what eating should be like all the time». Definitely worth it, we’ll be back.

I came this past weekend with my friends and I completely forgot what we ordered because I was stoned. It was so good tho. Like wtf? Is this real? So good. And I LOVE the wine the waitress recommended. AMAZING. Loved it. Def going back.

The fish is good here. Especially like the speciality sushi. It’s a bit overpriced but otherwise… completely and thoroughly enjoyed. The patio casual but good.

A little pricey, but I like the original rolls they have. I had a hard time trying to figure out which one to get.

Love FIAB. I regularly order to go and my go to’s are the YaYa roll, the Mountain or the Baja roll. All are delicious. I like to ask them to «double cut» them so I get more slices per roll and they are easier to eat and they always accommodate. The fish is good quality and it’s always consistently good and made the way I like. Love how close it is to my house.

RIDICULOUSLYLONGWAIT. Food was not that good and the service wasn’t much better. We arrived and they told us it would be a 20 minute wait, it turned in a 30 minute wait for the table. We were starving at this point and ordered right away. The appetizers took at lease 45 minutes to arrive. The sushi rolls took another 20 minutes after that. Our waiters were completely lost and didn’t try to anything to satiate our hunger. I will NEVER, EVER go there again.

Start with the garlic edamame! Crunch crunch roll is great, and ya-ya roll is out of this world. The butterfly roll taste and looks like a rainbow roll. Overall, food is great!!! Service can be hit and miss though especially at lunch but definitely quality sushi and FRESH.

One of those rare moments when I visit OC. I went to see one of my best friends! I remember this place back when I was in high school. The restaurant is on the smaller side but with the patio included it isn’t so small. Something about the décor and the lighting makes the place feel so cozy and warm.(Although it was… FREEZING yesterday) While me and my friend wait for our friend to end her shift we decided to grab something small to eat so we wouldn’t just be… sitting there hahaa we ordered the truffle butter edamame. OHYES. TRUFFLEBUTTER… BUTTER haha It was very savory and you can definitely taste the buttery truffle but… once you pass the shell and get to the actual beans the taste on the outer cover doesn’t get to the beans so you’re just left there hanging with no taste but the bland edamame. Yes, of course the edamame itself is very delicious but we ordered the truffle butter… because we wanted the full blast of truffle butter. We asked for some salt… and did our own little work but the more you eat it you get used to the taste even without the salt/soy sauce. We then ordered the sashimi platter.(light snack… haha) They give you a choice of california roll or spicy tuna roll. It comes with tuna, salmon, yellowtail and white fish sashimi with a side of soup or salad. The salad dressing was delicious! The salmon and yellowtail tasted very fresh and buttery. Especially the cut of the yellowtail was more towards the belly part.(which usually has a shimmery white color.) But… the tuna… was okay. I LOVE tuna but their tuna was fine. It wasn’t anything to go crazy over but it wasn’t bad. For a sushi restaurant in OC this place had many interesting option on their menu. I wish we were there to eat but we wanted to snack on something and go eat together with a friend. I’d recommend this place if you’re in the area!

Came here with a friend for some sushi on a weekday night and really enjoyed it! The staff is over the top friendly — we even met the owner and had a lovely chat with him :) Some of the sushi options are very odd(not to my taste), but the spicy edamame(MUSTTRY) and the normal sushi rolls are great! I recommend sitting on the cute outside patio area as well!

Great sushi spot for anyone in the YL/Brea/Placentia area. It’s been a go to for good sushi. You definitely pay for the quality and portion size. I have been over two dozen times now and I have tried almost every roll on the menu. I prefer the rainbow and butterfly because I like the variety and simplicity of fish that come with the roll. For most people, one roll is plenty but if you’re on an empty stomach then shoot for two. Edamame is great, just had the garlic(usually get salted) and it was great! I will only rate 4 stars if I have just one knock on the restaurant. For me, it’s the service with Fish in a Bottle. It’s very unpredictable and I have had both extremes. I think from reading other comments that it is the one issue with this place. To fix that issue, I recommend you come in and get straight to business. If you ask for time the waiter/waitress will be generous in giving you your deciding time. I’ve learned to order quick and then socialize. Great place! Favorite sushi spot in town!
