I went there for the first time last night… only because Chinese restaurants in this area are generally rubbish, so I’d given up trying. So glad I went!!! The hot & sour soup was amazing… in that’s it’s HOT and sour with lots of pork in it. and the ‘small’ is easily enough for 2. The green onion pancake was excellent and the egg rolls… seemingly pricey at $ 6.95, weren’t when you consider you get 6! My lad got vegetable chow mein which was super tasty(and cheap!) I had the cashew chicken which was superb in a kind of hoisin sauce, plus the hot & spicy pork belly which is not for the faint hearted when it comes to spicy!!! Service was great, very friendly, portion size excellent, price very reasonable and will definitely be going back!

Currently sitting and eating here as well. Food is just amazing. Well cooked and delicious. Portion size is well sized out. I got the yong fried shrimp and terraki. Prices are well priced as well and beer is 4.50 for a bottle!!! Just awesome.

This place is AMAZING… great food & excellent service. We’ve drove by this location for the past 10 years… We are so glad we stopped by. Absolutely amazing flavor. We will back soon.

Solid Chinese food in the area with an expansive menu. If you’re looking for exceptional Chinese food and willing to travel, I would suggest looking in Diamond Bar, Rowland heights, or Irvine area. If you’re just looking for solid Chinese food, this place is good. However, their dishes are hit or miss, depending on what you order. This was a 3 star restaurant before in my opinion, but since upgrading their restaurant, it feels cleaner and more food options in the menu as well. I would hate if the only decent sit in Chinese food in the area shuts down. For the lack of competition, I give this place a 4 star and would recommend for the locals not willing to cook or go further.

It is not the same restaurant as before. If you look for authentic Shanghainese food, this is not the one. I noticed there are more spicy dishes in the menu. So I think the chef is not from Shanghai.

Visiting family in OC over Christmas holiday, I had been craving good Chinese food from some of my favorite places in San Gabriel, but we couldn’t find enough time on such a short trip to go. On our last night, we’d been driving around near our hotel looking for soup when we stumbled on this gem! The staff were wonderful. They accommodated us down to the letter, and all was wonderful. Crispy chicken with chilies and prickly ash, comforting tofu and greens soup with pork… we only expected typical westernized Chinese food(which they have, so if that’s your scene, they have you covered!), and I’m cool with that, but to find a little place in a strip mall in Placentia that let a delirious sick lady order whatever she was craving was sooooo awesome. Thank you! You guys were so kind to us, and we will definitely be back next trip when I’m feeling better!

Food is average the wait staff is very good one waitress told me the owner keeps most of the tips and distributes the rest on a percentage basis I wanted to give my waitress more tip as a Christmas gift and this is what she told me

Authentic Shanghainese Chinese food. Highly recommend the beef roll, Shanghai rice cakes, green onion pancake, and the whole fish! The soup dumpling were ok.

I hate myself saying these, but I do really need to confess that it’s not the real Chinese cuisine. I was look forward to having a lovely and perfect dinner before coming here. Have come to the States for a long time, as a Asian, I missed the Asian food a lot. That’s why I came here when I Unilocal this Chinese restaurant. Although the foods were so fine, I still feel thankful for the restaurant owner. She was friendly to her customers which made me feel at home. The previous comments were just my own feeling, it couldn’t represent anyone else’s opinions. Hope everyone can still enjoy your meals here:)

There isn’t much in Placentia when it comes to Asian food. A few Vietnamese and Japanese restaurants here and there but not much in the way of Chinese food. So when my friend and I randomly dropped by this plaza for lunch the other day, we were surprised to find a Chinese restaurant hidden at the back of the plaza. Without hesitation, we stepped on in to try. Up entering, we were pleasantly surprised to find one of our favorite restaurant owners standing in the door way and greeting us with a happy smile! Sometime last year we were disappointed to find that her old restaurant(A boba café shop in Downtown Fullerton) had closed down and were under new ownership. It was nice to see that she had found a new niche in small town Placentia! From that point on, we knew that we were going to get some great service. * Restaurant cleanliness and layout: The restaurant was small, however they were able to arrange the tables/booths so that guests can have as much space as possible. The natural lighting from the windows gives you a sense of calm and relaxation(it also helped lit the restaurant up nicely). The overall restaurant was very clean(which is always a plus in my book)! The seats looked new and well maintain(hopefully it’ll stay that way). * Menu/Price: Honestly, I found that the menu was quite large but very typical of a Shanghai Chinese restaurant. However, you can find all of your favorites on it! From kung pao chicken, to beef and broccoli, from rice, to noodles… seriously, there’s something for everyone on it. I believe that the majority of the menu was meant for Family-style eating. However, since we came in for lunch there was a separate lunch special menu(came with your choice of rices, soups, and an eggroll). I ended up ordering the Kung-pao Trio(Chicken, beef, and shrimp) lunch special while my friend ordered the House Special chicken. Price wise, it seems about average/typical as compared to other nearby Chinese styled restaurant. * Taste: Overall, the taste was good! I honestly expected the kung-pao sauce to be a bit more spicy but it was okay(you can always add chili sauce on). My only concern with the Kung Pao Trio dish was that for something that is called a «trio» the majority of my protein was chicken. Very little beef and shrimp. I tried the House Special Chicken that my friend got and it was good. Very light, perfect for a lunch meal. * Service: Like I have stated above, when I saw the owner of the restaurant — I knew for a fact that I was going to get great service. The server who took care of us was sweet and very attentive, coming back to make sure we were okay and also took care of refills on our waters. She accidentally charged us for an extra dish on the bill but once we pointed it out, she apologized and quickly removed it. The owner even came by to apologize to us and made sure we were okay after doing so. Like I said, great service! * Overall I got a feeling that I’ll be coming back here to try their other menu items as well. I hope that they continue to improve and thrive in the near future.

Best Chinese food ever! Szechuan Hunan and Mandarin, all three are available. I have eaten here over 10 times in the last eight months, each time with a different friend or family member and everyone was impressed. The service is amazingly quick and thorough, I have never had to wait more than 3 to 5 minutes for service, and the owner herself came out each visit to greet me and ask how the food was. My first time I met the owner and she recommended«Hot and spicy mini skewer lamb» and«Chongqing spicy chicken», mmmmm! The first was spicy hot and the second made my tongue and lips tingle with Szechuan pepper corn, both were wonderfully tender! My next visit I asked for«twice cooked pork» and was asked if I wanted American-style or their version and I said why not?! It was amazing! It was spicy and savory and better than I could have made. Their hot and sour soup made especially sour with special brown vinegar on request is amazingly authentic. I am a Szechuan cook myself and this food is better than I am able to make. That is the requirement to me for a top level Chinese restaurant.

OMG! What happened to this place, it’s wasn’t the best before, but descent for a local craving. This new management is TERRIBLE!!! $$higher$$ and every entrée was soaked in oil with some Chinese spice thrown in the top, YUK !! COMPLETELYBLAND !! And oh, YUKAGAIN!!! I was so hungry, I ate the lo mein and hot&sour soup takeout, but we threw the rest away, it was completely inedible!!! But as I write this review, wish I hadn’t I just pray now that I make it through the night without a heart attack from all the oil or puking from food poisoning We almost went to PixUpStix too, but thought a restaurant would be much better quality. WRONG!!! My tummy and wallet are paying the price! If not for your hard earned ca$h, do it for yourheart and Dr Oz. Totally bummed now how much extra time at the gym I have to add on, just because they choose to be heavy handed on the gross oil and waste precious calories that didn’t even taste good!!! ARRGHHHH!!!

I live in Placentia and swung by to get takeout. Recently I saw a new sign hanging and thought the restaurant was gone, but it was just a new logo. I ordered Mu shu chicken and special friend rice. My favorite was the fried rice — amazing. Mu shu was good as well. I didn’t eat in, but the ladies working were very nice. The prices were in line with other Chinese restaurants in the area. Service was relatively fast. Plus they gave me a coupon for next visits. I hadn’t been to this place for a long time, but will go back the next time I crave Chinese. It was very good.

Seems like they are under new management now with their«grand opening«. Prices have gone up for lunch specials, portions are smaller, and less meat to veggies ratio. Guess they have to pay for their new POS system somehow. Used to come here a few times a month, but now not so much.

Worst service ever if they had negative stars I would put them… We came in sat ourselves and waited about 5 minutes to order drinks we order our drink and when our food comes out they have the wrong orders so we had to wait even longer for our food. When I was ready to pay I had to get up ask for my bill and get my own boxes for our food worst service ever.

I am a shanghainess native and this is the closet shanghainess restaurant I could find around Anaheim hills. I ordered Ma Po Tofu as lunch special. It’s good and I’m glad the lunch special is available at weekend. The Xiao Long Bao is disappointing. Not sure whether they make them in house. Decoration is simple but clean.

Planning and habit offer consistency, but often prevent us from finding an agreeable surprise. Shanghai is my agreeable surprise that I plan to make a habit. Laziness first prompted me to try Shanghi; I didn’t want to drive any distance for my old familiar Chinese takeout. Second were high reviews and multiple check-ins by smart Unilocalers who I would trust with my daughters at a Motel 6. They are smart, so I have to be smart! That cancels lazy, I think. I like spicy beef and pepper, so Black Pepper Beef is a must try. Worth every penny! Succulent, vibrant, spicy. I think it was $ 15, through the online menu says $ 9.95. Can’t wait to try other less pricey things on the menu. Darling sweet staff. And the looks, smell, and everything seems authentic to me.

Pros: — Family-friendly, booths and tables, has a somewhat cute look to it — Shanghainese-style food(better when ordering there than take-out), taste isn’t too bad but can get a little salty(ask for less salt) — Prices are average, somewhat pricy but not enough to turn us away(it’s 2 minutes from my house) — Service has always been tip-top, my dad comes in for takeout weekly & as regulars my family knows all the servers & the new boss Cons: — Before their takeout was literally the worst thing ever, maybe under new management it will be better — They open late on Sundays(4pm), so no lunch orders
