Not impressed at all. The portion of pastrami was small and they plump it up in the middle to make it look larger. For $ 8.65 I expect quite a bit more than the minuscule half sandwich, fries, and drink. The rye was decent, the pickle limp lifeless and flavorless. They try to pass themselves off as a NY deli and FAIL miserably.

It isn’t The Hat which is about 3 miles North but it’s not bad. I am a huge fan of pastrami so it never fails… Prices are high and they could be more generous with the meat so they are just a mediocre 2 star joint. But if you’re close, check it out.

I think there is a consensus about this place that I will probably be following in this review. Oh well, whatever. I tried this place a few months back as it was close to work, and they had been peppering our little industrial area with promo flyers and cards. I decided to give them a shot and see what they were all about. I got there and I wound up ordering the normal pastrami sandwich and a drink. I was shocked when I found out that it was so friggin expensive! $ 10 for a sandwich and a drink totally threw me for a loop. I figured if it was good, then I would try to keep it as a special occasion joint to break the monotany of the the other restaurants in the area. Well, that was not the case. Although the sandwich did taste good, it was dry and they pile all of the meat in the middle to make it LOOK like it is super stuffed when they cut it in half. Nice parlor trick guys. Im a fat man however, and I can see through such a clever ruse. The pickle that they included with the sandwich was super soggy and I was terribly disappointed with that too. No snap? Hell, no crunch at all? wtf? I have not been back since, but my boss has. He was even less kind to the place than I was. For the money, I would rather take the trip to Brea and go to The Hat.

I guess I’m tough on giving out a five star rating. This comes close, but overall value for price keeps me out of giving this establishment the top rating. The lite ran $ 6.95, and a small fry took the total to $ 10 with no drink. You’ll get a $ 1 break if you order the combo with drink and choice of side. We split the lite pastrami sandwich. The rye was fresh and tasty. The pastrami piled high with no fat, pure prime meat! Nice dill pickle half included. Split a small order of steak fries, warm, not too salty and very good. Restaurant was very clean and preparer wore disposable gloves, a plus in my book! Quick service, as at 6PM on a week night, not too many people were there. Too bad, as we found out they have been there since late 2008. It is hard to find, in a strip mall. It on the south side of the street off the 57 Frwy on Orangethorpe. Try it, you’ll like it! We’ll go again with our grandson(with mom’s permission) and try their Nathan’s hot dogs.

I wish I was John Connor and could send somebody back in time to warn my past self to choose somewhere else for lunch on 3÷19÷10. After much discussion my co-workers and I decided to try this place since it’s close to Fry’s Electronics, our usual Friday stomping ground. We chose poorly. First sign that this place sucks is the fact we were the only living souls eating there during lunch rush. Not even tumble weeds were blowing into the door. I ordered the chicken matzo ball soup and a potato knish which I shared with my friends and a tap water. One friend ordered a «over stuffed» tuna sandwich and the other ordered the BBQ Brisket sandwich combo which came with fries/drink. My fairly small cup of soup and knish $ 11.40… eleven effen forty. I almost shyte my pants when that total came up. Beef sandwich combo cost my friend almost 14 bucks!!! Tuna sandwich with water was almost 9 bucks!!! Ok… as long as it’s good it may be worth it. To start we split the Knish. When I think knish I think of a nice baked dough stuffed with filling. This was like greasy wonderbread molded over some mashed potatoes and then microwaved. It was soggy and greasy with a very odd flavor. None of us liked it. The soup tasted like dish water and the matzo balls had the texture of a dish sponge which was fitting. Instead of fluffy as a cloud it was dense and spongy with zero flavor. The chicken was all veiny and purple and I had maybe 1 carrot chunk. If my Grandma was dead she’d be rolling around in her grave over this crap… luckily she’s alive so she’ll never know. Love ya Grandma! Your soup is soooo much better. My friend who will eat anything in front of him threw away ½ his beef sandwich. That’s the equivalant of chucking 7 bucks down the toilet. He said it was dry and tasteless and not even the BBQ sauce helped it. I’ve never seen this man throw away food, my jaw dropped. The«over stuffed» tuna sandwich was a tiny dollop of tuna served over a gigantic chunk of raw onion, he said cardboard would of been more satisfying. Now let’s talk about the pickles. I love pickles as many of you know. I’ve never met a pickle I didn’t like until today. My friends threw theirs in the trash due to the, no joke, cat piss aroma coming from them. I agree they smelled horrid. But I had to eat it. They tasted just as bad as they smelled. Hell must of frozen over because I didn’t like these pickles. Sorry for those who like this place, but my friends and I all unanimously agree this place royally blows. We will not be back. Between the three of us we spent enough money to get 7 footlongs at Subway.

My co-workeres and I tried this place a couple days ago. It is in a commercial strip mall and is easily missed. I was half a block away by the time I realized I had driven by. I personally tried the pastrami sandwich on rye. I order the lite and my co-workers got the orginial size. When the sandwiches came out, the two sizes almost look the same. On the menu it states that the original is 2 oz more, but not really sure if it’s worth the $ 2 price difference. The pastrami was very lean and did not have a lot of gristle. Flavor was full and not too salty. Since this was my first time, I did notice that it tends to get busy at the lunch hour, so come early. I beleive the rush is due to the adjacent office park and overall limited eating facilities nearby. Overall, it was an honest sandwich, no frills, no surprises.

The husband and I stopped by here for lunch and split the large Pastrimi sandwich on rye and steak-cut fries. Man, was it tasty. It was a good price for the amount of food that you get. They also have Nathan’s hot dogs served here, the infamous hot dogs from NY, that get eaten on the 4th of July hot dog competition. Great place for lunch, too bad it’s in a industrial area that doesn’t get much traffic.

Tommy Pastrami is a counter style deli and thus has a somewhat limited menu compared to your usual sit down Canter’s & Jerry’s Famous Delis. Sandwiches come in different sizes, so you can’t really complain about prices here because of too much meat. Just order the amount you want. If you want quality, you pay for it. Most people in socal can’t tell the difference between $ 5 pastrami and $ 12 pastrami and try to compare the two only by price. This place has good quality pastrami and corned beef, so don’t expect your local greasy burger joint’s prices. I ordered the 9oz Corned Beef & Pastrami Double Decker Mile High. There wasn’t that much difference in taste between the two meats and that surprised me. It was sliced very very thin. I think when you do that you sometimes lose some of the rind on the pastrami, which is where most of the unique flavor is. Both meats were extremely lean. Too much for my taste, I like my Pastrami & Corn Beef to be fatty. As long as it’s well heated, it’s juicier that way. For those that like their pastrami and corned beef lean — you will love this place and claim it to be the best in town. Even though I found it kind of dry, the flavor was very good. It reminded me of the Hebrew National sliced pastrami and corned beef that you can get at the store. Same flavor, thickness, and leanness. The Chicken Salad was also very good. This was very smooth like a tuna salad, rather than your traditional chunky chicken salad. Nice flavor and served with fresh lettuce, tomato, and thinly sliced red onion. The french bread wasn’t anything special and next time I would get it on their good Rye. The potato salad was very Jewish tasting(meaning dill) and had lots going on with it(Red potatoes with skin, chopped egg, celery, black olives, and dill). Steak fries were also good. I can’t say the same about the Potato Knish. One of the worst, I’ve had. Mashed potato inside was very unseasoned and the outside dough was blah and too thick. It was hard to tell where the dough ended and the potato began. Good deli quality pickles and I totally noticed the Batampte Deli Mustard. Nice touch and I bought a jar to take home with me. Dr. Brown’s sodas are always a plus. Although they just don’t look right in the bottle. Whatever happened to those cans? Not sure if it was the owner behind the counter, but whoever it was, was very friendly and you could tell took pride in his deli. While it’s not my favorite pastrami and corned beef around, I still enjoyed it and I’ll be back to try other things on their menu.

OMG oMG!!! PASTRAMISANDWICHANDCHILICHEESEFRIES??? I’m eating healthy!!! Call the doctor I need a check up after this!!! Just because i forgot to bring lunch which happens 3 out of 5 days a week i ended up going here cause I’m craving for some italian food. I know right? How did I end up going here? Blame the flyer here at the office i just saw it and stared at it for 20 minutes browsing trough over and over again. They have a lot of meat choices but since their names says Tommy’s Pastrami how can I go wrong with a pastrami sandwich. So I got a lite Pastrami on a rye bread and CHILICHEESEFRIES!!! Actually I’m more excited about the fries than the sandwich. The pastrami was alright i wasn’t blown away its not bad but again I’m not a sandwich person the meat is flavorful, and the chilicheese fries its good nice chunks of meat they don’t use ground beef they use chunks of pastrami i think but it looks like they don’t cook it long enough or whatever its just a bit different but i liked it somehow but next time i’ll go for the large one. The price is kinda steep and i would say i’d rather go to The HUT or Tommy’s Burger…

Food taste good, some prefer Philly’s best, some prefer Tommy Pastrami. I really enjoyed the philly cheesesteak despite the price of it. There is enough parking, this place is the busiest of all in the striplet its in. The service is freindly, even when they announced they were OUT of Pastrami. The parking is ample, it is in a rectangular striplet in an area of Placientia with less traffic. We got a huge $ 12 Ruben, $ 10 Philly Cheese, $ 11 Philly, I enjoyed the fries very much, for the 3 dollars and change I paid I better have enjoyed them. To me, the steak meat was very flavorful, I enjoyed the soft tender meat and bread, but it could have used a little more seasoning. The bread was great, not too soft. Do not tell Philly’s best fans but I like the thicker fries they have here at Tommy’s pastrami. They also have potato chips, a variety of candy and sodas. Not to mention the diverse menu which is also online. My boss liked the Rueben from this place so I may try that in the future along with thier pastrami, if they do not run out.

Although this place is a franchise, the place feels like a family owned business. The owner is normally present and he is very friendly and ambitious. The food is awesome and the service is great. People might think it’s a little pricey but the portions are huge and worth the money. You have to try to homemade chili. Soooooo delicious! Overall a great experience and I would come back anytime!

This location is a franchise of the original off of harbor in Costa Mesa. The location is spacious and the food is «close» to the original. It can get a bit pricey though. My wife and I had one Jumbo Rueben and fries to share between us, with a soda, the ticket came to $ 17 and some change. That’s a bit much for a simple lunch if you ask me. Now their sandwiches are good, but the rueben at Togo’s is just as good and less than half the price. Try it for the New York Deli experience, but save your money and go to Togo’s for better sandwiches.
