This place is cool! Juice bar and café downstairs for all ages and a saloon and dance hall upstairs for the adults! We went for open mike night and had a blast!!! I highly recommend this joint for the whole family. The food is excellent too!

Extremely disappointed with today’s visit to Cosmic Café! I came in for an early lunch with three family members. We decided to sit upstairs because it was not busy up there and we had a little one with us. We went downstairs placed our order and waited quite awhile before the food arrived. The person delivering the food informed us that the kids table(they provide) was blocking the doorway. This individual was very rude regarding the matter and his approach surprised us all. It was a small plastic kids table that we moved a few inches while he was there to remedy«the situation». The breakfast burrito we ordered was good but the nachos were nothing special. I went downstairs to ask for a refill on my iced tea and the man working the front counter seemed very put off by my request. I do not understand attitude and rudeness when working in customer service? I felt as though I seriously inconvenienced him by asking politely for a refill. While trying to enjoy our meal upstairs the same front counter man came stomping upstairs and asked what the loud noise was. The only noise made was a plastic chair being moved on a hardwood floor. Once again the attitude and approach of the staff was extremely unprofessional and outright rude. For those unfamiliar Cosmic Café is a coffeehouse type atmosphere. At this point my family and I were so upset we couldn’t even enjoy our food. We were having a wonderful day enjoying our little town until we came in for lunch. I decided to let the man working the front counter know that we were really disappointed with our experience and how he handled himself before leaving. I waited while he was ringing up another customer and while I was standing there(he hadn’t seen me) he proceeded to talk about us to this customer. We asked to speak with the manager. The same man that delivered the food and was upset by the placement of the kids table was the manager. The manager offered no real apology and pretty much shrugged his shoulders. It is truly unfortunate that this place is being managed and staffed by individuals with a complete lack of customer service. My family member said to me as we left«I have never had such bad service in our town». As a local I do not like to leave a bad review but today Cosmic Café completely deserves a thumbs down. I really hope the owners and/or management can turn things around.

this is the best food in placerville bar none. This kitchen is open and can watch them make food. This is the third time we have come in and we continue to work our way thru the delicious menu.

Amazing! My mom & I went here for dinner. I hadn’t been in years. We both got the vegan BLT& it’s to die for! It’s not a ton of food, but it’s just the right amount. I was sad to see the cave in the back was closed, but glad to hear that they’re doing all they can to open it back up!

I’ve lived in Placerville all my life(so far) and just recently paid a visit to Cosmic. It was a really good experience. The food was absolutely delicious, when I went it was a bit quiet but I imagine at night it can really get busy. I will definitely be back.

Wowwweeeee… Great breakfast this morning! Came in yesterday for a latte and had to come back after I saw everyone’s food! My fiancé got a breakfast sandwich which comes with a coffee for a very affordable price, $ 7! I got the green burrito which is a bit more, $ 10, but so worth it! Really big burrito with lots of good stuff inside, verde salsa, brown basmati rice, eggs, cilantro, cheese, so good! Would definitely come again next time I’m in town! Live the vibe here too, awesome art and a neat upstairs where I think they have music.

Our FAVORITE secret spot in Placerville. Healthy but delicious. MUST life experience is a lavender latte made from their essential oils. We also LOVe the Righteous Ricebowl. We come on music nights and iopen mic nights are fun. Even more jamming place when a town festival is going on like Beerfest. Hungry thinking about their satiating foods and juices!!!

I used to love this place, but the quality of the customer service has really gone down: staffing, helpfulness, speed of service, and attitude. Who is in charge of hiring? A well staffed business with good customer service is how you make a business. Without that, it’s nothing. Great businesses fail when the customers are not pleased with their service. Anyway, the food is good and I haven’t had any problems with food quality. It’s just the people and that it’s not as staffed as I imagine it should be. I hope this changes. If it does, so will my review.

I’d give this place 2.5 stars, but that’s not an option, haha. I’ve tried this place a few times. Each time I come here, I’m never greeted with a smile, and feel unwelcome by the employees. My dad loves the place, so I drive all the way from El Dorado Hills to come here, but I don’t think it’s anything too special. It’s a neat location, and the upstairs is so much better than downstairs. Today I tried their food for the first time. I ordered the«Mighty Taco», which was pretty good, I’ll admit, however it took forever to get our food, and we were the only people in there. Another reason I’d give it an average rating, is because it was FREEZING inside. I’m guessing it was anywhere between 55 – 60 degrees inside. The coffee is decent, but there are much better places to go for coffee. I’d come here again if someone invited me, but most likely not on my own.

The upstairs is way cooler than downstairs. It’s quite spacious and a great quietish place to study or to have some alone time. Got the hot chocolate medium which was $ 3.50 I think it was a 16oz. It tastes really bland to my disappointment but was a bit milky/creamy ish. due to the whole milk. Couldn’t taste the chocolate that much. Their whipped cream tasted way better.

I went to this place after hearing it was good. I ordered the Nirvana Nachos which barely had anything on them. It was basically chips, sprinkle of cheese, a few spoonfuls of beans and rice, and ranch dressing squirted on top. My wife ordered the Nutburger which was dry, had no condiments, and came with black tortilla chips with nothing to dip the chips in. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich for my three year old son which was dry and had been on the grill a little to long. It to had tortilla chips with no salsa to dip in. the customer service was non existent, nobody checked on us or asked if we needed anything like ketchup or napkins. Don’t waste your time or money here!

I used to love this place. I would come here at least 3 – 4 times a month from 40+ miles away. I brought my mom and a friend here and it was such a shitty experience. Everyone that works here is an asshole. I have never met such bitter rude people. It took them 10 minutes to take our order when we were standing at the counter first and ready to order. There café was full but everyone left because they were taking so long. I still can’t get over how rude these people were. Whoever the asshole making coffee was rude and the girl who took our order, wow! What an attitude for no reason. Stoned people shouldn’t run a kitchen. At least say«we’ll be with you in a moment» instead of making people stand at your counter and give them attitude when you make them wait forever.

Me and my husband made a decision to go to this café because of all the good reviews it has. We actually were super excited, images looked good, awesome menu. But once we walked in it went pretty bad from there. Because I didn’t see anyone at the front I went to the back of the café to ask for a menu. In the back room one of the guys(tall guy with bunch of tattoos on his arms and long dirty black hair) was putting tables together and he told me that I should wait in the front of the café. When he came out I was told that they don’t have food and clean dishes in a really rude manner. He also added that they a short on staff. And you know what it is totally fine but the fact that his attitude was so bad that I didn’t even know what to say. The words«Thank you» wouldn’t come out out of my mouth! I am sure that the guys was tired and everything but common don’t be mean

The food was tasty, and the building is unique and cool. However the service was dreadful, which really threw off the whole experience for me. Our experience started by requesting some coffee, then being told no, we need to pay for our entire meal up front before anyone would be willing to serve a coffee. So we spent a few minutes figuring out what to order, scrambled eggs and a breakfast quesadilla. We then pay in advance for the food and coffees, get our coffees, and start to wakeup a bit. During this time, the place is not packed, there are only 2 other tables with guests there. Somehow making scrambled eggs took 40 minutes, and was served with cold toast. Feels like I’m not reviewing the same place as everybody else, maybe it’s just an off day for them.

While headed to Tahoe(because that’s the only time you’ll ever find me in Placerville) we stopped off for a much needed meal at this hippy vibing place in the middle of downtown. I was kinda feeling brunch but they really only had one brunch type item that was Vegan which was the scramble. Their Vegan BLT looked good but when you add avocado for $ 2 it costs you $ 10 for the sandwich. I ended up getting the taco. Or as it’s written on the menu«Thee Mighty Taco». Once that bad boy arrived on our table, I can see why the need to give it another name than just plain ol’ taco. It’s pretty big, about plate sized in length if not girth. It comes standard with avocado and a side of blue corn tortilla chips for $ 8. It was really quite taste and I’m happy I ordered it. I wasn’t too sure about the«crumbled nut burger» when I read it on the menu but in the end it was the best part. My babygirl ordered the tofu scrambler and it was delicious as well. A superbly seasoned, perfectly cooked scrambled was laid upon a bed of spinach. If it weren’t for all the oil, this would be a supremely healthy dish. I could taste a heavy presence of tamari and it worked great here. I might have to add a few dashes of that to my own special recipe. Upstairs is the bar area with pool table where you grab can grab some beers. They had a pretty good selection of local craft on 8 or so taps. This is the place I would stop in again the next time hunger strikes while crawling through Hwy 50 traffic on the way to or from Tahoe

My family and I visited the Cozmic Café on a road trip to the coast. We were looking for something yummy and relatively healthy, and we were far from disappointed. I’ll begin by describing the restaurant ambiance, because that’s what hits you as soon as you walk in. Actually, as soon as you see the building. The entire theme is very bohemian and quirky(I’m trying to come up with a more linguistic way of saying«super hippie» — which it very much is). But it’s also very rugged and has an almost dark ages feel. There’s even a mine shaft inside! The layout is incredibly unique and sprawls far back, and then winds upstairs into what seemed to be a sort of club. There’s beautiful stained glass in the high windows. The décor is vibrant and colorful. The walls and flooring really showcase the antique-feel. In other words, the restaurant building itself is as interesting and exciting as the food. Speaking of food; it was SO good. Everything on the menu is organic and local. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and added«Fakin’ Bacon» inside. And boy was it all delicious, I’m not fakin’(ba-dum-pshh). The ingredients were hearty and the burrito itself was huge(see picture for exact size). I also ordered an iced chai tea latte for my beverage and I kid you not, that had to be the best chai tea I’ve ever had. Ever. And it’s usually my drink of choice everywhere I go. Their chai was rich and spicy, but still sweet enough to ease my sweet tooth. My family also ordered the pesto rolls, as well as the hummus and pita chips, and both were as delicious as the burrito. I recommend ordering both appetizers to share with your party. The hummus is amazing; it clearly tasted authentic. Nothing like the tubs you’d buy at the grocery store. And the chips were still warm. The Nut Burger was also ordered by a family member and, let me tell you, there wasn’t a bite leftover for the rest of us to taste. I’m guessing it was tasty. I loved visiting the Cozmic Café and I predict making another visit(or more) when I make the road trip across state again. For those of you passing through Placerville — stop here immediately. This delightfully eccentric restaurant will make your tummy so, so happy. Happy feasting!

I came here for lunch today. It was just after 11 and not very busy. This is an order at the counter situation, so we checked out a menu and did so. I did the combo lunch with the vegan BLT and a salad. My husband got the nachos. The service was friendly and nice, but quite slow. This isn’t the place to go on a 30 minute lunch, but if you’re in no particular hurry, as we were, it’s fine. There’s a lot of interesting art on the walls, and the building itself is interesting. Upstairs there is a stage for live music and a bar area for beer and wine. Our food arrived. My sandwich half was on the small side, the«bacon» was soggy. I’m not sure if that’s the normal for veg bacon or not as it’s not a part of my normal rotation, but I wasn’t crazy about it. All the veggies were fresh and awesome, but my salad came with no dressing. Again, not sure if it’s the norm, but by the time I got my food, the line was long so in lieu of waiting in line for dressing, I stole some salsa from my husband’s nachos. He liked his nachos, although they were on the spicy side. Toward the bottom half of the plate, it was very watery so the bottom chips were soggy. I like this place, although the food is not the best I’ve ever had. I like that there are a lot of healthy options, as well as veg and vegan options. Lunch set us back $ 24. **later edit** on Thursday nights, they host open mic upstairs. We went to check it out. It felt like American Idol tryouts. Some good, some adult, but free and entertaining.

I found Cozmic by accident. We saw the large Dalai Lama watching over Main St last night and i thought it was so cool. Driving back from Reno, and taking the more scenic route. Which means we need coffee, frequently. I Unilocaled for coffee and vegan/vegetarian joint and this was in the top 3 or 4 within about 36 miles or so. Well, after seeing Dalai Lama, I decided it was fate. We only had coffee(café latte) and the vegan breakfast wrap. The wrap was good, loaded with veggies(which, on a typical day, are not my thing.) Everything on the menu is fresh and organic. Great joint to grab a healthy bite to eat. The mine shaft was closed for renovations, but that’s obviously necessary for everyone’s safety. Managed to snap a quick pic thanks to the girl up front(^_~) gonna have to come back for some exploring. The artwork is very eclectic with a buddhist/zen feel. Not surprising since Tibetan Monks come here yearly to create beautiful, vibrant sand mandalas! Going to have to visit when the monks are there as that is definitely something I would love to see(^_^) Great vibe, friendly staff, good coffee. 5 stars for Cozmic.
