I really like this place. It has a great, cozy vibe. Their drink selection, while not extensive, is adequate. They have a pool table, ample seating and decent music. The only problem is, they never seem to be open. I moved to Placerville back in May, and walk past the Folklore all the time. I’ve always wanted to try it, but they’ve never been open when I walk by. This past weekend, they were open! We went in, had a couple beers, played some pool, and had a great time. I wanted to do it again, so a few days later, we walked down about 6pm on a weekday. Closed. No hours posted. I would love to frequent this place if I could ever figure out their hours! If you can catch them open, stop by, it’s worth your time.

Jeff Chamberlain in Friday nights is super fun! Humorous bartender. Sweet regulars. Yummy desserts.

Really wanted to like… no…really wanted to LOVE this place. Pville needs a good tap house. Sadly, this isn’t it. She has a good beer selection, but the hours are hit and miss, music seems to cancel more often than not, and there is never a good crowd to add life to this cozy place. Every time we visit FL it falls flat… just«meh». The atmosphere is good in terms of décor, but there is no personality from the people here. I hope it picks up and hope they don’t settle for being mediocre.

Very warm and comfortable feeling room, a few sofas, intimate tables, long bar. The original 1800’s vintage stone walls and lots of wood give a wonderful ambience. Decent selection of beer and wine. They often have music, excellent acoustics in the room make for a good listening experience. In a rare show of good sense, though they have TV over the bar, it’s never blaring. Generally a nice place to hang out in Placerville. . Limited food selection. more in the range of appetizers, but what they have is pretty good, I don’t consider this a minus as they don’t really advertise as a restaurant. Update– have been here a few times now. Above still applies, but gets crowded quick due to due only a limited amount of seating in the larger room especially, but not SRO. Would like to see them add some more seating areas.

Great space, nice beer/wine selection and a «short but sweet» menu. We stopped in with some friends on a Monday night and I’m glad we got there early. It was an open-mic night and the place really filled up. Four beers on tap — a nice selection of microbrews — and a small eclectic wine list. Seems like everyone in our party found something at the bar they liked. We enjoyed a couple of appetizers too… good, but not great. This place is probably less than a month old and I think they are still working things out on the food front. They really did a nice job rejuvenating the space, I’ve always loved those rock walls and that long bar — nice job with the lighting! If you’re looking for a low key place to hang out and have a beer or a glass of wine — this could be it. I’ll be back for sure!
