Their meat is highly overpriced. We are a Mexican family here and we prefer to go to Sacramento to buy meat and products at the markets down there than here. Their meat has a distinct«old and dirty» taste. We have bought meat in markets from Sacramento for a fair price; when purchased the same amount of meat from soto’s the price is nearly triple what we spent in Sacramento. We even prefer Raleys or Safeway. These people purchase items at local grocery stores and sell them at theirs with higher prices. Good thing they’re going out of business the end of April.

Didn’t know this place existed(I live a mile and a half from the place) until my wife mentioned it to me. This is not a restaurant review, but a Mexican grocery store review. I was looking for dried Ancho and Guajillo chiles, as two of the needed ingredients in Texas Red Chili(Bowl of Red). I was delighted for the find, as none of our local supermarkets had them. I bought the two bags of chiles of course. I talked with a very knowledgeable young lady about the store, it’s beginnings(2005), and why I hadn’t heard of them before(she was kind, and didn’t mention that I probably wasn’t very observant). She said that they don’t advertise as most of their customers know of them through their church, and word of mouth alone seems to bring in the customers. It’s also a meat market and restaurant. Well, they have a new customer in me from now on, and I highly recommend the store to all comers. You’ll find Mexican, Tex-Mex, South West, & California Nuevo Cuisine ingredients and products, that just can’t be found without expending a bunch of gas and time in the effort. Try it, and you’ll be able to make a Bowl of Red without pouring chili powder out of a plastic bottle. Go here for one such recipe:
Now that I’ve read the other reviews, I’ll go back for their restaurant offerings soon. I’ll update the review after that.

We saw a sign on the side of the road for a Taqueria opening up in the little Mexican Meat Market up on the hill. We stopped in an and had lunch there a week ago, and have been back 3 times since. This place is the BEST little Mexican food place in Placerville, hands down. Their Carnitas and Chicken Taco’s are to die for. I swear this place has made every other Taqueria in Placerville instantly obsolete. There’s only three little tables in the side of the store, so don’t expect a fancy restaurant, but if you want the most flavorful, fresh and authentic taco’s you’ve ever had, check this place out!
