My husband and I stopped in to Mike’s Grill today for a burger & a beer. We happened upon Mike’s on our way to another establishment and since we’re adventurous, wanted to give it a try. I ordered the cheeseburger with onion rings and a cup of the soup du jour, clam chowder. Note: the burger was super thick, could barely get it in my mouth! I ordered the burger temperature medium, and Mike cooked it perfect(I’ve found that most places that take a temp on their meat, rarely get that temp right, so extra points to Mike for knowing what a medium temp burger should look like). The soup was delicious, the onion rings were some of the best I’ve had, albeit it was a small-sized order. My husband had the patty melt, cooked to a perfect med-well and the fries, which he said were his new favorite. The service was good and the overall experience was well, we’ll be back! We were told by Patty, our very nice server, that they were changing names as well as location. Apparently, sometime in the beginning of January 2016 they will be moving(somewhere nearby, not sure of the exact location) and will be called«Beef & Brews». So, we’ll catch them at the new location, and might even venture back in the meantime.

Absolutely one of the hidden gems in the area. Steaks were excellent. We had a filet and a rib eye and they were so tender they melted in our mouths. We came from wine tasting so we brought our favorite wine and it was a perfect pairing. You can pay astronomical prices at Ruth’s or Morton’s but they don’t get any better than right here in the little country restaurants in the area.

Time has been good to Mike’s. They have a new expanded menu with wonderful options for meat-eaters, vegetarians and fish lovers alike. I just had to update my review. We stop in every once in awhile for breakfast, and get take out for dinner sometimes, too. I’m a big fan of the fish tacos with chipotle sauce and the Garden Benedict with yummy hollandaise. The service is good.

To run a successful business in a small community you should also have good customer service. The customer service I experienced from the owner Mike himself was something I had never experienced before. My grandma had just passed away and we were going through her things at the house nearby Mike’s grill, we were all hungry after long days work at the house when we decided to order food to go from here. My aunt, who had paid for the food, couldn’t even eat her burger because the middle was undercooked. We were just up the road from there so I took it back for her. Mike comes from the kitchen and starts yelling at me that it is not under cooked that«you don’t know how to order a burger» and storms off back into the kitchen, kicking the swinging door open. I was so appalled because I was so nice about it and I even told him we all liked our food, just my aunt who paid was complaining. This made me so upset, and being already emotional that my grandma had just passed away too, I cried the whole way home. This incident happened over a year ago but I will never forget nor will I go here ever again. My parents live off of Oak Hill and they too will never go here again. Customer service to me makes or breaks you. Mike– you should really learn how to treat others the way you want to be treated.

Mike’s is HANDSDOWN the best spot in Placerville. If you want a restaurant that cares more about their quality of meat, bread and produce than they do about making a significant profit; this is the spot. Mike and his staff truly care about making sure they have the finest quality food and customer service. I have never been dissatisfied eating here with over ten separate dining experiences. You will get treated like family every time you walk through the door. The severs are always willing to work with you on changes or substitutions to a menu item. This truly is a hidden gem in Northern California. We stop at Mike’s every time we are headed to South Lake Tahoe and I encouraged anyone rolling through Placerville to stop and check out Mike’s! You WILLNOT regret it.

Was ready to give up on this place but today changed that. The fish tacos are back and great and they are doing the burgers for dinner again. After talking to the waitress it seems the chef that was burning and over seasoning everything is no longer there. My tacos were great and my friends burger was cooked perfectly. Service was great as usual. Also they started doing some craft beer’s. Looks like Mike’s is back on the right track again. Hope it stays that way.

Fine dining menu and pricing with a breakfast diner atmosphere. No wine list? Good food, Ok service. Perhaps they should consider throwing on some table cloths and linen napkins for the dinner crowd.

Wow Mikes has a new menu with amazing prime steaks! Also the salmon salad is to die for fresh salmon with cut up berries and delcious goat cheese(my fab) Service is fantastic also, very welcoming and helpful.

The experience was all around horrible. I took my husband here for the advertised Fathers Day buffet, to find dried out meat, slim options, a very rude staff and a $ 60 bill for two plates! The smell of the smoke they used was saturated in our hair and clothes all day. This was our second time at this restaurant and both times the owns sits at a table and drinks his 6 pack of beer, its not a place we will return, EVER.

Still Awesome! My husband picked up a burger at Mike’s & brought it home. One bite & I remembered how great the quality of the meat is in these burgers.

First off Fantastic food! All the meats are always fresh! Not the processed junk you get in most restaurants. The portions are enormous! You definitely will not go away still hungry! The staff is super friendly, attentive and fun. I recommend giving this place a try!

Use to love going here cause it is so close to home and the food is good, but tonight was the last time we will go. We walked in was greeted and told to sit where ever we want to. Then we sat at the table for 15 minutes as the two waitress helped the other 3 tables that had customers eating. We were never brought menus nor did the two waitress that clearly saw us even try to come over to us. It’s really sad because we really do like the food but have had it with the bad service the we have experienced on more then one occasion.

Great meal — except a transformer blew up across the street during a storm! Like 5lbs of C4 blew up — we had a limited menu and they served us! We were happy about that, Cuz we were just served our drinks!!! Then BOOOOM! And way Their Turkey sandwich had a ½″ thick of Turkey(2slices 1−4″ thick) Chicken sandwich grilled was huge and 2 Vegetable sandwiches with Asiago Cheese bread — I had the Ghost Pepper Cheese(SPICYHOT) and I was not disappointed! We’ll be back the next time we go to Leoni Meadows! Thanks Mike’s Grill — glad I jumped on Unilocal to locate Ya! Please add your menu to Unilocal and full menu to Face book…

Insanely good food. Seriously a hidden gem in Placerville. It’s a little off the beaten path but we are sure glad our friends recommended this place!!! They are spot on when it comes to price, quality & quantity. Steak and lobster on Friday and Saturday nights. On Saturday they have prime rib which I was able to upgrade instead of the NY steak that comes with the steak and lobster special. Cooked exactly the way I asked!!! The servers were very nice and made us feel right at home. We can’t wait to come back I’ve been craving their garlic fries all week!!!

Two of us enjoyed a nice late lunch here. We both had burgers — cooked perfectly with nice big patties and fresh fixin’s. The staff was super nice and the food arrived quickly. They serve wine, not sure about beer — I did not see an adult beverage list. Surprisingly nice décor on the inside, the place is cozy with a casual ‘Bay Area’ feel to it. About a 10 minute drive out of Diamond Springs and totally worth it. We’re going to come back for dinner soon!

Okay going wine tasting looking for quick meal before we start and stumble across this place. Service is excellent but the food, the food is insanely good. I ordered Mikes Famous Dip never confuse with French Dip, grilled mushrooms and onions and big slices of beef. Wife had an enormous chicken quesidilla with guacamole and sour cream. Both dishes were excellent! Highly recommend you find and try this place you will not be disappointed!

Pretty amazing food. The burgers we ate we’re off the hook insanely good. They serves up a serious burger that we both split. Garlic fries that had real garlic. Drinks were the normal. TVs were there to watch football. The inside is ok. The ceilings are low so it makes you feel a little crowded. It’s a great place to go check out and being some friends. The price is right and the people are very nice.

I so wish I had shared the experience of the other reviewers. Have been waiting for Mike’s to open and because we couldn’t make it to the ribbon cutting, went the next day. Got there at 11:30. Met an older couple coming out as we were going in. Asked how it was. They just looked at each other then then said, «Well, it’s really loud.» and then added, «but there were a lot of kids in there and they are gone now, so you got here at just the right time.» I asked if they would come back, they just both silently shook their heads. Our experience. It was loud, lots of kitchen noises. Waitress told me that breakfast was available until noon that day. It was 11:30 so i assumed that meant both breakfast and lunch were available. My bad. I was corrected with a «I guess you didn’t hear me.» it was only breakfast it turns out. Then she went on to say, «if you could see the size of our grill you would know there was no way we could do breakfast and lunch at the same time.» Wait was ok. but then they messed up husbands order and she came out to say the cook had dumped it in the trash. Brought mine out while his was being remade. Noticed that with other tables, meals did not arrive at same time so it is either let it it get cold or let someone eat alone. Biscuits were great, homemade, fluffy, wonderful. Gravy? Tasted like old grease and flour. Texture was not right and there was no flavor other than grease. Eggs(over easy) perfect, sausage great(except was asked if wanted them well done, never had that question on sausage before). Hash browns, great on the outside, raw on the inside. Asked for a soda, it was never brought. Waitresses seemed scattered and unorganized with out clear stations, every waitress visited every table to see how things were. Asked how their opening was the night before and waitress actually gave me the dollar amount of how much she had grossed. Then she left through the very visible back door again for a smoke. Husbands food was less of a success than mine and he had to abandon his and we shared mine. Which was fine as the portions were big.(So paid for two meals but really only had one.) Smoking area– 2 chairs directly outside of the front door, so every time was opened it was smoky. I hope they get the kinks worked out. It is too sad to see another local business not make it and we won’t go to a chain. But honestly, after waiting so long for Mike’s to open, it was extremely underwhelming in all areas, food, décor, services and atmosphere. Husband vows never to return. I will give it a couple of month and might venture back… maybe. Oh and after we paid we were told we had been charged for another tables food«but it was almost the same amount,» so they hadn’t corrected it.(And no, it was not less than ours had been.) Nice.
